Looking back it is insane to think that Jeb! wasn't even close to the worst that the GOP could do in terms of out of touch campaigning. Jeb! at least had the excuse of not having 4 years of TDS and 2 years of Joe Biden on his hindsight to plan for, unlike DeSantis.

He got out of touch very quickly on the campaign trail. I'd guess he was heavily reliant on information sources in Florida that he did not have elsewhere, or he fell to greed and stopped listening to his supporters. His downfall would make an interesting case study.

I think DeSantis bought into his own hype, that he was responsible for the rightward shift in Florida. DeSantis was a struggling candidate until Trump came along and endorsed him, in doing so DeSantis hitched his wagon to the MAGA wing of the Republican Party when he was always a Bushite when in the House. The working class Cubans loved Trump and came out for him to give him a 1.2 point win over Hillary, they REALLY came out for him in 2020 to give him a 3.3 point win over Biden. Miami- Dade which used to be a hardcore blue county only went to Biden by 7 instead of 20+ like in previous elections. DeSantis rode that wave and got matched up against one of the worst candidates in history in Charlie Crist.
Crist was a RINO governor of Florida when I lived there and he used to praise Obama all the time, he ended up becoming deeply unpopular and didn't even seek reelection, instead he ran as an Independent for Senate and then later became a Democrat after he came out in support of the LGBT shit. People tout DeSantis' win in 2022 as how popular he is, but never mention how Crist won the governor's race by 7 points, only to lose the Senate race by over 20 points to Marco Rubio. A governor's race isn''t on the same level as a federal election be it president or senator.

People liked DeSantis when he was doing things they wanted, like pushing back against Covid bullshit and grooming kids. Now they don't like him because he's doing shit they don't want, like ignoring his job as governor to go against the guy who got him the job in the first place.

Its honestly comical how bad Desantis has done in terms of keeping his positive momentum from around 2021 or 2022. You take someone like me, who was glad to hear people talk about him as a good governor, to just being annoyed with him every time he's brought up due to his consistent bumbling of optics and etc.

Some said that when his presidential campaign started DeSantis may of decided he wants to run because the opportunity may not be there in 2028. It now looks like that could be the case either way for all the wrong reasons.

Meatball should've stayed in his lane. It's crazy why he would run for prez when he was doing an amazing job as governor of Florida. He was influencing the entire nation in a positive way simply being governor, more than what he could accomplish as president.

Checked, it would pretty much make it easier for voters to directly pass stuff without having to rely on politicians to pass it. It was being used as a idea to help stop abortion and got a lot of press on that, so of course baby killers came out in force because Science forbid we can't abort at will on a whim!
Seems like a interesting idea that was trashed into a retarded yes-no choice by abortion worship hijacking it.
Also in other news Portland is now so openly commie you can get away with intimidating the jury on the court room to have your way if you are Antifa.

Anyone who thought Zion Ron remotely gave a shit about his base while he was flying to Israel to sign bills that were meant for Florida was only fooling themselves. A lot of the pushback against things like CRT had a lot of fine print. You just couldn’t call it critical race theory and it was okay, even if the content remained completely unchanged otherwise. Then the budget for holocaust education doubled. Many people called this out but many were only excited about the headlines. In the end, it’s all about what they do, not what they say.

So I don't get who Mike Pence is even trying to appeal to. Liberals don't like him no matter what and middle American conservatives will forever remember him as the guy who betrayed Donald Trump and the folks that attended January 6th. Even if you agree with the mainstream media narrative on the 2020 election, Mike Pence still comes across as a guy that would accept the 30 silver shekels.

Like a lot of Republicans Pence seems to somehow believe the United States is still 90% white and Christian and they're all clamoring for an inoffensive, clean cut, nice guy, Protestant who loves Israel and tax cuts.
