Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

So is Linus actually going to say anything to quell people or does he believe that abject silence and business as usual are going to be enough to cause this to blow over? These are some pretty severe issues going on and yesterday's responses on his forum were legendarily bad. I can't believe he's just staying quiet today.

They even uploaded a new GameLinked video just a few hours ago as if they're not the internet's punching bag right now.

FRESH OFF THE PRESS
There is one added piece to the puzzle that Steve didn’t ever bring up that I feel Linus just got away with.
During the Newegg drama when GN went out of their way to reach out to customers and build a case against the company they forced them to not only respond, but to let him in to grill the execs on camera in an unedited video, Linus came out on the WAN show defending Newegg and claiming that people fake stuff to return all the time.
This was before the backpack drama and was honestly one of the larger moments of Linus being a corporate shill.

But for me the ethical issues started when he did the big video about how “higher refresh rate monitors do make you better at games” with some of the worst testing possible, then like a month later he was in a commercial for a high refresh rate monitor during the game awards and said “I’ve done my own testing, I know just how important frame rates are to performance”

Steve wanted to be more recent but the issues with Linus go back years are this point

I enjoy the bullshit disclaimer at the bottom and how that was promptly ignored

About those disclaimers.
My past work required knowledge about how it works, these ones are worthless and only meant to CYA if you send the e-mail to a wrong person.
For a confidentiality conversation/agreement both parties needs to agree on that in a clear way, you can refuse(or agree) it and if they still send you the e-mail, it's their fault because they sent an e-mail to someone who didn't accepted that conversation to be confidential.

Iirc, disclaimers like that have little to no legal basis in terms of enforcement by the other party, even if it is used by actual corporate entities such as those in the health or legal fields. It's mostly done to cover the ass of the sender from liability if the information contained in the email is misued.

I do appreciate GN's calm and collected responses to the entire shitfest, given that they're not even remotely in the wrong and are having their name dragged through the mud by Linus and co. and that they don't nearly have enough resources to fall back on if support is taken away from them. I wasn't even aware that Linus' YouTube channels have the ability to change part of the video in place post-publishing - a power granted to only very few YouTubers - until GN mentioned it in the most recent reply video.

They use it to only replace parts, but the feature is not restricted to only a part of the video. Theoretically, they could replace the entire video. They just haven't, not yet at least.

Kind of guessed as much, if I, the recipient, haven't signed shit, and this isn't some government military document, well fuck you, it's mine now. Glad they keep taking Ls

After the GN video and poor response, their fanbase is beginning to see how hypocrite and anti-consumer Linus is on the subreddit and forum but unlike when those facts happened, most of the community is going against him and LMG in general. Here's a few posts that got traction:

The main thread on their foruns is 206 pages, I wonder if they will surpass our thread here about him in the next day

Allow me to simplify. Newegg is the number one sales account for most PC brands that will pay marketing dollars for any influencer content. Linus would be very, very, very fucking aware of this as he spent his time with his previous employer butting heads with brands over Newegg being the dick stomping market force they are. If you want sponsor dollars to flow you do not rag on Newegg. If you don't rag on Newegg over something that effects how customers are treated you are choosing dollars over marketed integrity image of being on the side of the consumer.

TL;DR "I'm a gigantic faggot and got so winded by GN that I don't even have the energy for a proper comeback"

It came out a bit scuffed, but I still like it.

I'm a broke and simple man. I see man creating media conglomerate empire out of YouTube channel that was already looking long in the tooth with awkward sponsor segues as early as 2019, I turn away in disgust. I see other man create hardware analyses with autistic and painstaking levels of detail, I say "keep bookmarked for when I eventually decide to build new PC."
