I didn't want to get into the details of incel and mgtow stuff, but since you mentioned it. I disagree with Josh about incels. I think most are a victim of circumstance, such as being in male dominated careers that have few chances to meet women. Then there's women's ridiculously high standards. To get his foot in the door, a man these days has to be 6'3, own a house, own a new car (no older than 2020), make 6 figures, have 6 pack abs, a 6 inch penis, have no kids, be fine with her kids, do all the house work, and have a university degree.

I have personally witnessed this shift of focus within the fandom.

I missed this post, but I agree. I grew up on anime like Akira, Appleseed, and Genocyber. ie. Cool anime that will rip your head off if you go in unprepared. It was after Evangelion went mainstream I noticed a change from Ghost in the Shell style adult themes and hyper violence to arguments over which teenager is "best girl".

I'm told my kind of anime still exists in droves, but I've not been given an example of it. The Netflix Ghost in the Shell reboot is full of wokeshit, and Knights of Sadonia seems okay though I never really got into the anime and the manga became a collectors item.

Yes. That is a thing. Like I said, I didn't want to derail the thread with a debate on incel mgtow mra etc. I just wanted to point out how Drex's whole "I'm mayor of MGTOWn, here's how much snatch I'm getting." shtick doesn't make sense and he's an idiot.

Without getting into the weeds, incels, mgtow and the like have a bunch of jargon for it, but the basic gist is this. The ideal man I mentioned that women are chasing are exceptionally rare, and those that do exist have better options than some angry land whale. So instead, those women fuck a cavalcade of guys that each provide one of the many traits I mentioned. This is what PUAs are taking advantage of, and is part of why MGTOWs hate them. There's an argument to be had over which is worse. I don't care either way.

PUAs like Drex also hate women and they have no problems getting laid. Even serial killers have armies of female fans that want to fuck them. So hatred of women is not a factor.
