I have no idea if this is the case with Fatrick, but an occasional annoyance for we bartenders was when a barfly regular was a friend of an owner or manager.

Sometimes they would be a pre existing friend and therefore think they were also an owner/manager by proxy, but sometimes they were just liked because they did spend a lot of money there.

While it’s a generally accepted belief that Fatrick is an unlikable character and has no in real life friends, it’s possible that someone key at hooligans does or did actually like him.

Again, referencing bar experience, I have met people who were easily as contemptible as Fatrick, but still seemed to have a friend or two.
Sometimes not just the same kind of awful character.
A bit like when people have a terrible sibling that won’t stay out of trouble, but they always help them out.

Patrick is a just a concentrated intensified version of a very common personality type (people call them narcissists now but I don't know if mental health terminology is really useful) who has figured out he can get endless entertainment value out of the legal system.

He will never stop.

The real question isn't how dumb is he exactly and what diagnosis should he have. The real question is how people like, oh, say, Katie Herzog and Jesse Singal came to the conclusions they did about him.

People like that make up the class that run our country's legal, educational, and medical institutions. When a Patrick shows up they cannot immediately identify what he is. You can, but you're not running shit.

I deal with milder versions of Patrick in every aspect of my life and I hear about them from my colleagues and they cause chaos and fuckery all the time everywhere, and you can't do a goddamn thing about it, because every system in place is ultimately run by someone with the beliefs and ability to assess risk of Katie Herzog and Jesse Singal's parents - people who absolutely are equally upset by niggeroni jokes as they are by abuse of the legal system, people who are incapable of looking at someone's internet history and distinguishing jokes from insanity.

I don't know. I think Fatrick genuinely has below average IQ on top of his severe narcissism and elements of antisocial personality disorder he displays, no doubt compounded by his alcoholism. He genuinely has no sense of self-preservation--he was about to walk into that courtroom last week with an insane screed sourced from a Xitter loon ordering the judge to dox the plaintiff for getting an illegitimate judgement against him by virtue of being the son of a federal judge. He cannot stop engaging anyone who messages him. His books are incredibly awkward at best and despite being a science fiction writer doesn't know words like "ecliptic" (among many others). He is mentally disabled enough that the idea Jackie is a deep cover troll out to ruin his life for shits and giggles is actually plausible.

Another cow here, Nick Rekieta, is similar. Similar age, clear NPD, self-professed ODD, alcoholism, boasts about his Mustang, pals around with pedos, drugged out wife. But I don't get the "wow, this guy is genuinely retarded" sense from Rekieta I get from Fat Rick, because Rekieta discovered things like "how to make people like him" and knows at least a few tricks to manipulate people into ignoring all the skeletons in his closet. He seems like someone who is clearly above average intelligence but increasingly crippled by his personality disorders and his substance abuse.

Now I would say Rick is not a literal retard, in that he's capable of basic functioning in society and only suffered the dirty crapped briefs once (that we know of). Removing around 8 hours for sleep this works out at around a new tweet every 10 minutes, and this ignores time needed to use the shitter, eat, or shower because in the former two cases he almost certainly xeets while eating and shitting and in the latter case he is too fat and gay to shower.
