Laurentian meaning the land around the St. Lawrence river / watershed. Basically where all the exclusive Universities in Canada are. So yes it's the Candian Old boys club.

In fact the main reason for the Upper Canada rebellion in the 1830s was this same network which was called the Family Compact because it was a few elite families of United Empire Loyalists (who were kicked out after the American Revolution) and who dominated government positions which were handed out through the patronage network. Justin Trudeau has angrily denied claims he traveled to India on a plane 'full of cocaine' and that he didn't leave his hotel room for two days.

The Canadian PM's Office has dismissed comments from former Indian diplomat Deepak Vohra over accusations he made on Monday on Indian television.

Vohra, a former Indian ambassador to Sudan, told Zee News: 'When Justin Trudeau came to India for the G20 this month, his plane was full of cocaine. He did not come out of his room for two days.'

Given how awesome Canada's doing... has anybody else considered leaving? Nothing here is going to change, so I've been looking around for information or peoples thoughts. I'd love to just up and move to the US tomorrow (not feasible I know), but hell if I know a pleasant state or city to even live in.

Just to be clear, while there is a "Laurentian" generational wealth elite that run the country and a shittier version of a Canadian Ivy league of aforementioned universities, the actual Laurentian University is unfortunately named and has nothing to do with any of it.

Tried America, personally I would not recommend living there as a non-citizen. Any class of visa, even the best once (executive transfer) or even the mighty greencard doesn't mean shit. One lay-off, one mistake, one phone call and its pulled and you are essentially unpersoned and told to GTFO. If you don't and get caught in a basic traffic stop you'll be spending a year+ locked up with cartel hombres and other savages before your deportation hearing, eh? Own a house? Have a stock portfolio and bank accounts? Have a job? Have kids in school? No one cares. Get out. Now.

Best bet is to find the most empty, racist and xenophobic non-francophone community in Canada and live there as a perpetual outsider. Maybe within 5-10 years you'll be accepted. Or not, who cares. Stay anywhere regular people live and as a native born Canadian you'll be an outsider and disposessed soon enough anyway.

It really is in most markets, especially Ontario where they are funneling all these people into. Just browse Realtor.ca which is Canada's Zillow. It's not uncommon form million dollar homes in Toronto, and because of the spike in interest rates, rents are skyrocketing as landlord mortgages are spiking.

It's about 50/50 but even with a locked in mortgage rate after 5 years you have to re-sign at a different rate. So it's only a matter of time until you get fucked. Of course most of them will still vote Liberal because they think it makes Trump mad, so a lot of them deserve it.
