I don't know this furtuber but watching the video, I think he's half right: these poketubers aren't in it for the accomplishment, they're in it for the money. How else do you clickbait a bunch of kids and teens? Make fake encounters. How do you keep an audience? Put out regularly scheduled videos. It's a community of video engagement to get a career sitting around and playing pokemon, but then realizing how hard it is to keep topping yourself and keeping an audience involved. The Poketubers I watch (I am not immune to autism) usually stream challenges or disclose cheating if they do it (since they admit to being more for entertainment and they have a real job). The ones who take on wild challenges usually need extra time because they have other obligations and have to put grinding in a children's game on the back burner, so they don't often post as much. That's not a bad thing, it just doesn't earn you consistent asspats and money.

I imagine youtubers like this have a harder time opening patreons since a lot of their audience is underage, but I would imagine nuzlockers might be a bit more wide age appeal. Even then, your audience is fleeting if most of your videos are clickbait.

Why can't we get some quality drama out of Jan instead of this exact same shit? He's a creepy weirdo whose very existence screams male feminist incel.
