Minecraft

Why PolyMC? Prism is the pozzed tranny one, but PolyMC is the one who revoked trannies access to the project.
PolyMC, despite its name, is based and redpilled. It's the one that the owner kicked out all the trannies and they all left to form Prism while doing as much damage as possible to Poly on the way out. I still just use MultiMC, but PolyMC is good if you want to piss people off.
And it's also completely dead, the last update was in February, because everyone who actually did work on it flocked to Prism, so PolyMC is a dead project that has it's reputation tarnished by misinformation from both Prism devs and from Mojang employees.

Plus, ATLauncher is vastly superior when it comes to installing and maintaining modern modpacks, so PolyMC/Prism have nothing to offer, while both MultiMC and it's forks have the issue of lack of proper support for versions up to 1.5.2, such as player skins, which is something that the BetaCraft launcher is meant to fix for a proper Beta experience.

but PolyMC is good if you want to piss people off.
legit, i was once in a discord server where i showed a screenshot of some mods i was using for a pack with PolyMC, some random fucking tranny, who wasnt even in the convo; lost it's shit because i was using it.
it genuinely asked me why the fuck i was still using it and i responded saying that its a fucking launcher for a block game, who the fuck cares.
it shut the damn thing up at least.

i know that the prism fags spread misinformation but some fucking mojang employees got in on it too? never knew that.
also ATLauncher is fucking aids, it managed to wipe clean an imported instance clean of everything, (luckily i had a backup) i also had trouble getting it to play nice with some older versions (1.7.10 and 1.12.2) it did better with 1.12.2 but 1.7.10 was temperamental.
ended up using prism begrudgingly only because it gets regular updates so my fucking microshit account doesnt get stolen.

Looks like the leak was fake
waiting for someone to mod this mob in less than a day
The fact that the fake leak was very believable in the first place showcases how garbage and overhyped the mob votes are. I'm going to echo the same sentiment already said before here, but the team behind Minecraft now is so fucking lazy. Mod developers create in months worlds and shit beyond what Mojang does in many years, and they have the audacity to push out these updates like they mean anything. I've seen entire games from start to release made by a single person run circles around Minecraft in both time, functionality, gameplay, and performance. Hell, give a few people a year and they could probably remake Minecraft entirely in another language and it'll run 100x faster and contain every feature accurately up until now.

As I am exploring alternative games in this genre, I cannot help but feel upset and irritated for the disrespect and lack of effort a decent game of the "simple quality" has ended up with, especially one as genre defining as Minecraft.

Rant over.

Surprisingly haven't seen this thing posted in the thread, so gonna add it myself.

In a since deleted series of tweets, one of Minecraft's devs unironically said they don't have enough manpower to add 2 more mobs per update and would have to cut other features if they did.

obraz_2023-10-10_195057910.png

He then got called out and wrote a 9 part thread about why a 600+ person company working 8 hour shifts can't add less features in a year than the average modder does in a week (lol).

Every time people think Mojang's laziness hit rock bottom they use a power drill to break through the floor.
At least Hytale is coming out circa 2029.

There are open source projects that follow these same standards that get more features and updates with nowhere near 600+ people. So is he just trying to blame Bedrock or something? I thought the Bedrock team was like the Terraria console/mobile team, where they just have access to the main development version (PC) and then work from that, or is this Microsoft's super corporate restructuring of the company and them trying to make Bedrock the main version? Either way this just outs them as having absolutely terrible project management, not the point he was trying to make.

His reasoning is full of shit.

Java Edition has massive performance issues to the point modders refuse to mod for the latest updates.

Also lol, lmao even at 3 mobs being too much when the fucking Sniffer is just adding two decorative flowers in.

Reading some of the replies under that tweet gives me an aneurysm. Mojang bootlickers finding any excuse to not blame Mojang for this.

Out of curiosity I decided to look up how many people work at Wube Software, the team that made Factorio.
>Originally "a garage company" of 2 programmers and 1 graphician, with an interesting idea grew to a team of 32 in-house professionals and contributors around the world.
32 full-time employees. Thirty two. And they are able to constantly add new features to their game, work on a fully-fledged expansion, AND port their game to Nintendo Switch.

And mind you they're an actual independent game studio out of Czech Republic, the only reason they can fund their shit is because Kovarex came up with a solid idea and it sells like hotcakes. Or rather got inspired by Minecraft tech mods.

How. The fuck. Can anyone excuse Mojang not being bothered to add two mobs, when they have over 600 full-time employees and the absolute giant supporting them that is Microsoft? This is some higher level Kool-Aid drinking.

Plus, Mojang's way of working doesn't excuse them of anything. It's just two mobs, and having to implement it to two codebases, run tests and release is 100% within their company's capacity. They just refuse to acknowledge that they can't be bothered to do actual work because the money they're now earning is so good they don't need to.

Because those are the modern industry standard, as little effort as needed to get a paycheck. No passion, no effort, just mindless droning.

NONONONONO EVEN FUCKING BETTER
NOTCH MADE A FULL ZELDA-LIKE MINECRAFT CLONE IN 48 FUCKING HOURS. A FULL TOP-DOWN VIEW 2D GAME. IN 48 HOURS. ALONE.

NO. FUCKING. EXCUSE. The only reason Mojang refuses to add all the mobs at once is because they are absolutely lazy. They aren't afraid of the mobs breaking balance or game feel, they aren't incapable of that amount of work in their workflow. They are just lazy and complacent, and they refuse to expand on the game that keeps getting sold because the community behind it that they're trying their best to suffocate is the sole reason still fueling the sales.

@Slav Power it's actually very easy to expain. Notch and the Factorio devs were passionate and dedicated to their projects, unlike modern Microsoft/Mojang, simple as. There is no love poured into modern Minecraft, except by modders, which is evident. Working on Minecraft is just collecting a paycheck from Microsoft for minial work.

They already threw any semblence of game balance out the window with Shulker boxes and Elytra rocket boosting back in 1.11/1.12, and then killed it even further with the villager changes in 1.14, so the game balance excuse is just bullshit.
ALL of their excuses are complete and utter bullshit, but nuMojang's dickriders buy into every single one of them.

Too hard? They have 600+ employees, they're fully capable of implementing it to two codebases.
Need to playtest it? What, are all the playtesters you're hiring the type of useless tools Twitter used to hire until Elon realized they did nothing and threw them out so now they're fighting against him? Can't let them do their work or else they might get upset and you'll lose your diversity quotas or what?
Need to bugtest on both versions? My brother in Christ you notoriously keep marking crucial bugs in Bedrock Edition as "won't fix" unless they can cause a seizure or anything that might cause a revenue loss.
Will feel like it's modded? PISTONS AND HORSES WERE ORIGINALLY MODS. The creator of Mo' Creatures is credited in the game for his contribution. You had modded content in the game for over a decade.
Will offset the balance? The game is already piss easy compared to what it used to be back in the day. There is no balance to be broken.

Every single one of their excuses can be refuted, or shown as being hypocritical.

But that's the thing, back when shit like horses and pistons were added, Notch still owned the company. After Microsoft took over, now everything has to have the approval of five thousand different suits to not cause even the slightest revenue loss. But Mojang can't say that or even say that they simply do not care about the game anymore, because money. Money money money.

Shulker Box + Ender Chest combo.

Store all your valueable loot in Shulker boxes and keep them inside an Ender Chest.

729 slots absolutely safe from griefing.

Tfw bundles are absolute garbage and finding rabbits for it is too much effort.

That's one of their dumbest excuses. You can get infinite resources from villager trading halls. Everyone is aware of this and there tutorials with millions of views showing how to set it up. I haven't played Minecraft in quite a while, but I'm sure this is still something you can do on current versions. Hey Mojang, Why haven't you patched that out if they're so concerned about balance?
Have you tried vintage story? And what are some gems in this genre?
Vintage Story scratches a different itch. With modern Minecraft being more of a creative sandbox than a surivalist game, I don't think a lot of the current Minecraft audience would appreciate the tedium of VS, especially the early parts. It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you figure it out you'll have enough food to last you years by the time you hit your world's first winter.

Also, Mojang has 600 employees? I wonder how many of them are involved in the actual development process.

The vast majority of Mohammed employees are probably in hr, translations, and other weird random support shit.

It’s a Microsoft shop, it’s entirely filled with all sorts of weird shit you have to do before you can even shit out a snapshot. The dog’s list of shit probably takes six weeks.

My real feel is that they know there’s only so much you can do to Minecraft and yet they DO want to keep it alive, so they’re slow dripping content.

I really can’t quite get into the minds of those who play unmodded javacraft- I guess for the “challenge”? I mean it is a kids block game after all. Maybe mojang should just fully open source 1.7.10 and leave us alone lol.

lol at autocorrect for mojang. Gonna leave it.

I wonder how Jeb feels about this, he's been there since 2010 so he has seen Minecraft evolve from a passion project to the corporate monstrosity it is today. He released a combat rework years ago that went nowhere, is he just as pozzed as the rest of Mojang or has he been simply broken by it?

Simplicity (I don't want to read a wiki) and design philosophy (a mob with a complicated model and ten 256x256 textures is retarded).
Modern Minecraft is modded BTW.

Notch once said that he may release source code under "Public Domain" if/when the game stops being profitable. Unfortunately Minecraft became the most sold game in history. (:_(

i mean it doesn't really matter, the complete decompiled java source is out there, probably even better commented and named than the actual original sources

I disagree.
Without open/free/libre/whatever source code mods are restricted by EULA, which may be enforced my Microsoft to ban "problematic" projects. From what I remember MS forced some server with guns to replace them with blasters because "EULA says that projects shouldn't break age ratings".
