Why do some journalist keep bringing that up? I am not aware of a single law of war that forces you to feed and supply enemy civilians in (!) enemy territory. I also can't really think of any examples in history (police actions pseudo wars don't count). I think in late WW2 the Americans provided food for the Netherlands but that were allied civilians in German occupied territory.
It's only after you occupy the territory that it becomes your responsibility again.
I think it's just that following the Ukraine debacle, where a small nation attacked a nuclear equipped nation with near unlimited manufacturing potential, no one considered that a suicide mission. But now these guys are morons. You can see how people can get a little confused considering the previous narrative laid out.
