Honestly I think a paywall is realistically the only way to make a profit on long form commentary videos. I don't think there is enough interest in public domain movies to bring in the viewership. People want movies they are familiar with which can't be shown. Which comes the next issue where your average viewers just wants to click on a video and watch it. If they have to find a copy of the film to sync up with the commentary, most aren't going to bother so inevitably those videos will get very low views.
I think that with RT's prebuilt massive and heavily invested fanbase it could have worked. Remember they wouldn't have been jumping into this with nothing and building an audience from scratch, they already had a legion of ride or die fans at this point and this was back when they hadn't squandered their goodwill with those fans.

Look at YMS. His regular videos get hundreds of thousands of views but his watch a long channel struggles to break 1k on a video. Even the full commentaries he posts on his main channel get far less views. You can see here the difference between a full length "audio only track" vs the condensed version with spliced in footage.

Probably due to the length, the spliced up version you know is the "best of" track and the full length is an hour twenty of nothing and twenty five minutes of funny. I think if RT had done the spliced up version it might have worked.

They used to do that. It was called Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures.

I miss Rage Quit.

But all good things must come to an end.

I think Michael could have had an extremely successful streaming career. If you watch his solo LPs from before RT hired him they were hilarious which is pretty remarkable for solo content. Rage Quit was consistently funny and entertaining despite being predictable.

I'm sure he must have considered the move at some point, it's sad to watch him be a corporate husk now

Ray sniping about AH ending was something I didn't expect, but it's still fucking funny. The RT higher ups tried to fuck him over to make a buck so I don't blame him for pissing on their already dug graves
I'm curious about this in particular. Since I do know that the RT higher ups were massive retards, I never quite understood exactly how bad they tried to fuck him up. But, it's still hilarious to see RT go kaput and Ray having another W to his long list of wins.

Long story short, Ray started a twitch channel. Higher ups attempted a hostile takeover of it where they were going to take a majority revenue. He told them in no uncertain terms to fuck off and was basically on their bad side from that day on.

Damn it's worse than I thought.

I was expecting it to be an attempted NDA and retarded contract or something that had some shitty terms sneaked into it.

Yeah it's really pathetic. Every other original AH member has either left or been forcibly removed and he's still there doing these dogshit "comedy" sketches. Even Jack, as big of a faggot as he is, saw the writing on the wall and pivoted away.

Not quite. Ray started up streaming for fun, and RT saw that he was building a solid audience and thought the best way for them to get AH into livestreaming was to hijack Rays channel, rename it and forbid him from running one himself.

This is how I remember it. They more or less stole Ray's Twitch channel with the obvious lie that "we just can't have you representing AH without our management" (and then proceeded to let everyone at the company have his or her own channel), and from that moment on Ray was miserable in LPs. The correlation is 1:1.

I was like 16 or something at the time, and I remember being so pissed off. It was obviously all an excuse to take his channel. It's so gratifying that he's now extremely successful and diversified while AH is in the grave.

It's more insulting knowing they cared about making profit more then... You know, cutting checks on time, if what Ray said is true in that he wasn't paid on time because Geoff being Geoff probably lost paychecks a lot.
Edit: to add to my point, here's Burnie throwing Geoff under the bus for losing their first royalties check. I'm willing to bet Burnie never trusted Geoff with important shit like that again until he had to be corporal to a bunch of kids playing video games.

God those views are so fucking terrible, how are they still attracting any form of advertising.

I have a really strong feeling an OnlyFans isn’t far away. Because everyone is jumping on that bandwagon.
No way, she looks way too much like Geoff to have any form of success. But I guess there are plenty of RT fans who would pay to see her pussy at least once. So maybe a good first month, then 10 subs after that.

Why did they let Lindsay post this the outfit is good but it’s the fucking smile that gets me like it’s just looks silly. They should made do something more serious with a slight smirk or something. Also Lindsay seems be getting slimmer as well which is good for a mom of 2
So Lindsay has an OF as well. How many RT personalities have one now? All that’s left is Kara Eberle and I think that’s all of Team RWBY on OF.

This is the best I've seen Lindsay look in a long time. But please, just smile, instead of a smirk.
