In order for Nick to understand, he'd have to be able to accept reality. He's very far from that right now. Denial is a huge part of addiction so again, this isn't surprising -- just more proof that Nick is a textbook drunk.
This quote isn't explicitly the one I should use for my forthcoming comment, but it will do.
Some people here are convinced that Nick will never quit drinking. That Nick loves drinking more than his wife, children, career, etc.
All of that is true. There is one thing Nick loves more than booze- and that's Nick.
Within the next 1-5 years, a doctor will sit Nig Rackets down and talk about cirrhosis. Narcissists don't like to admit they are susceptible to normie issues, and Nick will quit drinking.
Here's how it will go
" How would my wife and family survive without me"
" Poor Kayla is so wrecked, I have to stay alive to take care of her"
" No one else is capable of coordinating this family- I have to take care of myself."
Blah blah blah. Me Me Me.
Unfortunately, I am way too familiar with the lazy narc drunk lawyer archetype. I found it especially telling that Nick's son wants his Mom to teach him how to drive ( as someone mentioned in the thread- I assume it's an accurate report). In a functional family, the teenage son would beg his father to teach him how to drive in the snazzy Mustang that girls would drool over.
Instead, Nick's son prefers that his mom teaches him. Probably because she isn't an egomaniac that will spend all the time trying to assert dominance by denigrating her own child. You all know that Rekieta views his son as a threat- it's part of the mid-life crisis thing. I predict (hope?) that boy kicks his ass sometime soon.
And as far as AA is concerned: As Nick's views dwindle, he will embrace AA. He will go to meetings because he will have a captive audience to talk about his favorite subject-
not booze, his favorite subject is himself. The Very Special Boy that is Nig Retarda.
He'll have to drive to Minneapolis to avoid the locals, but that just means he's earned a happy ending massage, right?
