Lots of prey species have pretty camouflagy fur colors so it would make evolutionary sense for men to be better than women at distinguishing hues.

What's the evolutionary advantage of having hair on your back, or balls? Nobody likes either of them.

IMO women being better at colors is a random artifact of the X chromosome, not selected from. You don't have to be able to recognize chartreuse from ordinary green to distinguish between ripe and unripe berries.

The real advantages that human visual perception have are the ability to see fine details and the ability to easily notice things that are standing still.

Perception of colour's a pretty interesting topic, actually. There's enough cultural differences, like how aoi means both blue and green in Japanese, to make me think that it's probably not biological. I.e. men can distinguish between crimson and scarlet, they just don't care to.

Actually, no. Colour blindness is an advantage when it comes to seeing though certain kinds of camouflage, because you can see shapes much easier, where the mass of colours and patterns confuse normal sighted people. It was put to use in WW2, where they used colourblind soldiers to spot areas of camouflage which would be hiding things like tanks and planes.
