The more.. ardent ones consider anything outside of the visual spectrum a meme. Lind's book is a tour de force of their ideas taken to the max. There's a section where a bunch of national guard F-16s jump a flight of F-22s over an airbase. The F-16s turn off their radars and fly in visually, which someone how makes them undetectable. After breaking up the flight, they just turn around and leave despite several F-22s still being up. They just turn their back to armed and pissed off fifth gen fighters and it's fine.

To be fair, that was largely down to a deficiency in electronic IFF systems combined with imperfect communications causing a lot of friendly fire incidents in the early days. More effective IFF is one of the less glamorous but still incredibly important improvements from 3rd to 4th generation fighters.
