Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I don't know what I'm doing (Chrome, using uBlock) but I've never seen the strikes prompt, and I don't have to reset uBlock nearly as much as other people in this thread do.
Same, with the exception that a couple of weeks ago I got a series of block prompts one after the other. I just clicked ok and it did absolutely nothing, then they went away.

Maybe they're "diversity hires" who were hired regardless of their coding abilities, just because they're of "marginalized groups"?
Modern web dev retardation transcends race, sex, and gender identity. But yes, that's probably part of the problem.

I used to use Youtube on Firefox until it literally started crashing my browser. I'm stuck in my ways and will not use Chrome unless totally necessary, so I took the invidiouspill.

I've seen talk about how this whole anti-adblock shit is a sign they're financially struggling; weren't they also playing with the idea that they would charge people to playback videos in 4k and higher? They've already done something like this with "high bitrate 1080p" where the video will look better with a higher bitrate.
If they eventually go through with charging people for higher resolution, that's pretty much a telltale sign that something is veeeeeery fucking wrong on the inside that's probably gonna result in a big crash in the forseeable future.

They aren't struggling with money, so much as struggling to wring as much money as possible from the pockets of everybody involved, being a public corporation in a capitalist economy. Can't wait for some shit like Rumble or Odysee to bludgeon them in the free market after they do some retarded shit like charging for 4k, though.

I'd think it was just me, but I've talked to several people that are getting really screwed up stuff recommended lately from the algo with all this too. I thought it was just me, but I'm seeing some shorts that are borderline NSFW pretty often. I basically gave up for a few days to let ublock get better on it but it's pretty jarring.
Same here. Youtube has been recommending me lots of weird shit this week, including a couple low view lives with Asian guys showing their junk.

At least the warnings have stayed away with Brave & uBlock.

They actually already had this for like a day when all this anti-adblock shit was just starting, when you checked your video quality setting there was a "Premium Bitrate" option that isn't there anymore.

Also I haven't had any issue for a couple days now with uBlock. Without fail, if it starts acting up it gets fixed within a day by updates. Suck my cock Google.

Can you imagine watching some ambience video to relax, but every so often it's loudly interrupted by advertising? Like ocean sounds interrupted by "HEY YOU BUY PRODUCT"?
Late, but ads being louder than actual content is actually illegal on TV. Congress literally passed a law back in the early 2010s banning the practice. It was a unanimous decision, too.

Unfortunately, the law on applies to television, and not to the internet, or streaming services although there are current attempts to try update the law going on.

My point is that nobody, not even the soulless, decrepit ghouls of congress, likes ads, and if even they can unite to tell the agencies to fuck off, or at least force them to make them not as loud, they're probably gonna do it again once this adblock situation starts affecting them as well.

I haven't been hit by the detection but I occasionally get ads now even with an adblocker, they are always <10 seconds long , kind of rare and only at the beginning of videos.
Also the screen always stays black during them, anyone else have this?

This is wrong. Absolutely no one should be subjected to ads on youtube.

Use Brave with the shield on, works 100% to block the ads.

I'm using Brave but I'm still getting that pop-up that says Adblockers are not allowed on Youtube. It doesn't play an add but it has a timer on the X button that I can't click for at least five seconds. It hasn't driven me to murder yet but I wanted to see if anyone here has found a way around that.

Tonight's update: I accidentally opened a YouTube link in my locked-out Opera browser instead of FreeTube. And guess what? The ad blocker lockout window didn't appear. Only a small pop-up appeared in the lower left corner, offering a premium service.

I haven't done anything else with that browser since YouTube stopped working, so I don't know what has changed. It is unlikely that they are already giving up, though.
Maybe the lock resets after a period of inactivity? Anyway, I'm glad they left me alone tonight.

Opera Mobile continues to work without ads or lockout screens.

It's really some bush league adblock detection. All it takes to circumvent it now is going into ublock's config menu, purging the local cache, and updating the filters again.
I know the ublock team isn't updating filters that rapidly, a fresh set of them just completely boggles Google's attempts to detect adblock. If you have the browser set to hate any and all cookies they probably can't even conjure up the nastygram about it.

Been using Brave on mobile for the past 6 months or so. It doesn't have the "pip" feature like the YouTube app does, but I'm not getting hit with another ad literally every 2 minutes. Been working like a charm, not even getting that pop up in the corner others have brought up.

I actually turned off uBo on youtube a couple days ago and let brave do its thing. Haven't been hit with any ads yet. It seems like this is either a) maybe dying down or b) something about Brave's blockers are working better. But I thought they were the same rulesets uBo uses?

Daily reminder to install Adnauseam. I for one fully support advertisement platforms, and if everyone installed Adnauseam, I'm sure that businesses will see the value in using them.
Does anyone know if adnauseum was working throughout this whole shitshow?

They force you to have a gmail if you wanna sign in on youtube. At least they did, years ago, what were people supposed to do?
I never had a youtube or gmail account personally. I realized the other day that I haven't watched (with that I mean looked at a video more than 2 mins) anything on youtube in probably about half a year now. (Or whenever shorts started showing up) Even the videos that weren't complete total retard clickbait are usually barely informative. 30+ minutes of video for about two paragraphs of usually very basic knowledge. I literally do not have the time for that, or lets say, I don't want to make the time for that. Most youtubers I liked have stopped, the few that are left are just sad to watch with their incessant attention whoring. (and all youtubers do that to a degree. You do not become a youtuber if you don't love to bask in the attention, they all have that attention-addicted, sometimes narcissistic streak that also makes actors and politicians) I sometimes do look at parts of videos people link me on alternative frontends like piped.video. I'm not sure what composes the default mainpage on piped, I guess it's probably youtube's algorithm untouched by any particular biases. I only see the thumbnails but it's absolute bottom-feeder drivel that takes away all desire to browse. It feels kinda like cable TV used to feel. Mental fast food.

I guess people could just not watch youtube? It's not really a requirement. They can't really "force" you to do anything. At the end of the day, that's all on you. I maintain that I don't think there's anything on youtube you just *have* to see. I don't really think anybody is truly richer for having experienced youtube at this point. I now take my puzzle pieces.

it's still there, at least for me, it seems like it appears on certain videos/channels only

I switched to uBlock when this all kicked off and haven't had a single issue in weeks. Either the trannies google has working on this anti-adblock thing are too busy dilating to do good work or google just isn't trying that hard.

If its the latter, I could see the entire thing being a one-and-done attempt to trick the low IQ people using adblockers to uninstall them and buy youtube premium before backing off. There is probably a significant fraction of adblocker users who would fall for that.

i doubt it's not trannies. more likely it's israel-worshipping indian contractors. the deerself types don't lower themselves to writing actual code

if it was a one-and-done as you say-- which it kind of seems like it might have been-- then it's similar to how for a LONG while (like a couple months) there was an unremovable nag block taking up the top 1/3 of gmail mobile telling you to download the gmail app. it was so infuriating but eventually it just went away on its own.

uBlock Origin on FF was working fine this morning, now I'm back to YouTube blocking the entire video. Not sure what to do other than wait for the uBlock autists to update their fixes.

This is really annoying. I just don't understand how hard YouTube must be bleeding money if they're going after ad blockers, which are a very small percentage of their viewers.
