Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I wonder how far into production this one will get before it's tossed in the trash as a "tax write-off" like the Wile E Coyote film.

OK, gotta get this off of my chest, since apparently no one else is talking about it:
is it just me, or does Migration, the new Illumination movie actually look.....decent? Not amazing, but not bad either. Kinda reminds me of an early 2000s kids movie, you know the kind. The kind that your mom puts on on a dreary rainy day to give you something to do. I dunno, I'm actually intrigued by this one.
Late, but...
Okay, I've got to admit the inner autist in me is going wild for this, I really like the premise. I love birds too much to not be excited. The flying scenes are going to be so pretty. Illumination have really stepped up their visual quality here regarding the lighting, environment, the characters, and I see a lot of good cartoony stretchy squashy movements in this trailer alone.

Everyone talks how Looney Tune's Show is an underrated classic, I will NOT rest until Duck Dodgers gets its much needed recognition and due diligence from the audience

@Romeo Can't quote but it's this post

Based. I watched Looney Tunes Show as it aired and got pissed when I heard critics online pan it. Duck Dodgers is also great.

These are examples of good reboots/remakes. Those words are so tainted for me now that I forgot properties used to have different iterations you can enjoy eve.

"Modernizing" and "Marketing to a wider audience" is studio cope for sanding out as much personality out of a media til it is digestible enough to the lowest IQ moron. And the twitter speds and industry bootlickers who support these decisions should be mocked.

Anyone who thinks they can't make older properties (or anything really) appeal to people today are creatively bankrupt and should not be working in entertainment.

I said this post on the record in the General Wrestling thread when quoting someone about how that movie was cancelled and how stupid it was. It was because Tony paid Warner Bros. to cancel that movie to publicly fuck with John Cena.
Absolutely fucked up, but somehow not surprising. That's how Citizen Kane almost got yeeted from existence, people with enough fuck-you money can and will get a movie pulled for any reason.

I think it’s easy to assume that anyone reading this enjoys cartoons but most of all casual racism. And if so watch this Flip the Frog cartoon (a character created by Ub Iwerks the co-creator of Mickey Mouse) the stereotyping of Chinese goes harder than the infamous Warner Bros Censored Eleven.
Now sure WB mocked blacks and had African cannibals but this is the only cartoon I’ve witnessed that involved a METH DEN! Animation wise this is stellar, these Flip The Frog cartoons are like an edgy Disney.

I wouldn't be upset about Coyote Vs. Acme, it's fundamentally this same sort of movie.

A big studio owns a cartoon IP, but animated movies are considered a risk unless they are standard Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks formulaic piffle. Some exec thinks for a moment and then says "We have to Roger Rabbit this." Famous actors are added because cartoon characters aren't considered real stars. These kinds of post-Roger Rabbit live-action/animation hybrids only exist because Hollywood does not "respect animation".

I think it's not getting released for stupid reasons is indeed stupid but if it were a hit, the Hollywood execs would just ascribe that to John Cena, and that might result in at most the greenlighting of another live-action/animation movie. This isn't the late 1980s when the success of Who Framed Roger Rabbit helped in part to usher in the 90s renaissance in American animation.

I thought it was opium

Yeah that was a typo on my end. More used to thinking “drug den” means Crystal Meth. Anyway here are the other two racist Flip cartoons. They’re far closer to the WB Censored Eleven.

There’s just something special of this kind of racial humor. It’s not the focus it wasn’t made to offend. It was just funny to the audience.
