DOOM

It's standard sequel escalation.

A lot of the people who write for games now grew up on poor stories where the next "arc" had to kick it up a heavy notch. See Dragon Ball Z.

You're already fighting back significant demons, so where else do you go except up to the standard JRPG bullshit of killing God?
I hate that shit. I mean yeah I'm catholic but the whole idea of fighting God is just stupid because he's unquantifiable. Even if you solve that issue(you can't without making him something other than God or Some idiot pretending to be God) what's the endgame? How do you snap your fingers and take his place?

The only reason why eternal got away with it was because they implied everything was sci Fi as opposed to truly spiritual

doom 3 was active from launch till about the time the orange box came out and now suffers because obtaining it is impossible thanks to bfg edition. It had a long run it's got tons of full mods and really it only died because physical copies of games died, it didn't come to steam for many years after that.
My favorite was the weird Lego Elvis mod

Normally I'd hate it, but with Doom I don't care if it goes over the top as long as it's fun.

Besides, you're not really killing God, the series just takes heavy inspiration from Christian mythology for its imagery. It always felt pretty sci-fi to me from the beginning anyway, I don't think they necessarily meant it was the literal Christian Hell so much as something inspired by it.

I need to get back to Doom 3 I haven't played it almost since it launched (looking at the release date of 2004 makes me feel ancient).
I remember really liking it and behind scared by it until I figured out that 90% of the time is you entering a room, the lights go out, door closes shut behind you and monsters appear. Still I was entertained by it but I don't know how much of that is just me being a teenager with bad taste in games as opposed to now where I'm an adult with bad taste in games.

As a poster said some pages back, play it in VR, if possible. Everyone that done that swears by how good the game is in that.

So it seems like John Romero and John Caramack are going to be getting together on Twitch. It'll be an open chat about Doom ofc and they'll be answering questions.
It'll be happening around December 10th at 8pm.

Now, who would bring up the most concerning things onto the questions table? That'll be:
Ronero's involvement with mermaidsUK
The state of community that is overfilled with degenerates and sex pest, mainly troons and pedophiles, one of which was an important figure in gzdoom' "evolution".

Calling it now, Romero is mostly going to answer softball questions about the wild days at early Id and respond with dudebro stories. Maybe talk a little bit about the pop culture influences at the time that inspired the game and level design/aesthetics.

Carmack is going to be in his usual robot mode and is going to spend most of his time talking shop about the programming side of things. The man's about as dry as a popcorn fart, but he knows his shit. Possibly a rant on VR at someone point or another, but VR is one of those things he's been fascinated with since he saw a Holodeck on Star Trek as a kid, so that's a given.

Romero doesn't even need to dodge those questions, Twitch will probably ban you for even asking. What I'd love to ask is why his latest game flopped and why the only successes he's had in his solo career, aside from coasting by on name recognition, were paid Doom wads.

Maybe the "rockstar" thing had to go his actual career instead of game developer. Cuz as the latter he's rather shitty.

So here's something a little funny, I was at the store and I saw an Xbox promotion on a bag of Doritos. Guess which massive Xbox/Bethesda game was being promoted.

That's right, Doom! You know, the series whose last game came out like 3 years ago, and not their big new game Starfield.

Starfield is such a poorly received and forgettable game that Xbox had to go back to their last actual hit, Doom, to market their promotion.

Rumors have it that John "suport trans rights and mermaidsUK pedo-ring" Romero is threatening us with an actual 32-level wad called.... "Hellion". For Doom 2.
I'm not sure if I have to remind you of this but, Sigil 2 have supposed to be a wad for doom2, not yet another Doom episode yet here we fuckin' are.

While the og cover art for 93 DOOM still remains the best vidya cover art ever made, the 2016 cover art is good just...not this versionView attachment 5555655
2016's art is pretty fucking dope.

But DooM II has my personal favorite. Especially with the Marine's zig-zag haircut. Shit just looks cool.
