I didn't witness any of this first hand.

So we had a client, with Alzheimer's, who was a sweet, forgetful lady who lived in the countryside and loved kittens. Didn't much care for cats. The situation was... We'll say complicated, she had managed to cultivate a massive feral cat colony. Her family managed to get the numbers down, somehow, and got her down to 41 cats. Authorities can't do much, and she was far enough out of town that there weren't any associations to help. I don't know what the family did, but don't get optimistic.

And since dementia is a bitch, well... Again, she loved kittens. Loved, loved kittens.

My colleague came in one day, at lunchtime. Opens the freezer and finds... "A bunch" of dead kittens in the freezer.
She apparently wanted to preserve them?
Anyway she went into a home.

Its one that i lived under for a few years as we bought and paid off and fixed up an older house in 5 years. We started with the rv because it was easy to pack and move. Moved into an rv resort ( a KOA actually) for $700 a month that included every amenity possible ( All utilietes included, including internet, water, elec, sewage, nice perks like apool, hot tub, dog park, store, yard maintenance and cleanup, etc). Lived there about a year as we saved and looked for property.

Then moved rv to property to live in as we fixed up the house ( it a small historical beauty about 80 years old and so very solid).

That can be a wise choice when done by people who take responsibility for their lives, appropriately downsize ( aka not have 15 cats) and have an appropriate exit strategy . RVs will not last long under the neglect of morons who piss away money and allow small issues to become huge issues.

And guys, holy shit , thank you so much for this lovely gift of a thread you have here. I hadnt been able to access kf for so long ( a year maybe) so this glorious comeback is a personal holiday miracle to me.

I live in the south and such idiots as this live and breed around us and they amaze me. So its nice to have a snark zone for discussions of such shenanigans and for the frugal thread. This is my new fave thread. Lemme go read up from the beginning. You guys are the best for creating this.

I think it's safe to say that Polissa has all but completely checked out on Josh. Josh confessed to his sister that he despises the cats, so I think it's also safe to say that he has all but completely checked out on them. Maybe we are getting an actual divorce arc in 2024.

The worst part about ol' Piss is the animal hoarding. Watching dumb people being dumb is a time honored human tradition, but the innocent animal victims put a damper on the fun. Because they buy shit like Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls when they could buy potatoes, eggs, and bulk sausage, and cook their own, for a lot less money.

Basically, it boils down to being low-IQ people who always go for the easiest option because to do differently might require some thinking and effort on their parts, and that's too hard. They are also functioning on the emotional level of young children, so they prioritize spending on wants, which they categorize as needs. So readymade convenience foods and soda take precedence over nutritious, less-expensive basic ingredients, and spending money to win a Halloween costume contest and throw as much candy as possible to the crowd takes precedence over keeping their cats adequately fed, much less getting even one female cat spayed.

they both survive on a steady diet of the most overly expensive trash possible. if they were cooking themselves and making bigger meals that could be frozen and eaten later they would be fine. they could make their own jimmy dean breakfast bowls for cheaper than the actual bowl but they refuse because that is effort.

I would not be surprised if moms also left them to die, killed them or they were born very sick. Assuming they are still very little newborns and that’s why she hasn’t seen them. If they never appear at all it’s easy to assume one of the three or they were killed by the elements/other cats.

She has no real connection or relationship with those cats. She will likely never with the kittens if they do survive or live to adulthood. These cats are all officially feral.


I already was MATI due to lurch looking like my cat who passed but this is worse.

The bolded part particularly struck me. PL, but I have a very fluffy kitty that sometimes comes to my wife and me sadly meowing for some sort of help, like he has a tangle in his fur. That he trusts me enough to think "I must go to Toilet for help" in his little kitty head is touching to think about.

Most of the cats haven't trusted Polissa for a good bit, if ever. I think she only got to get close to Lurch because his mother was one of the only cats that actually liked her at all. If a cat appeared in Pissa's videos, it was almost always Matilda. What did that get her? Pissa trying to get rid of her so she didn't have to deal with spaying three cats.

She said that two of her cats had kittens, but she had three unspayed females. Which two were they? I don't know. I don't think Pissa even knows how many kittens there are at the moment. "At least fifteen [total] cats" was her estimation. There may be more kittens we don't know about as of me typing this.

Just a fucked up situation all around.

Agreed on it being weird the cats didn't dump the kittens on her. Even our cats know if you want something done, you bring your issues to the humans. Need a door open? Bam. Yell at a human. Cold? Snuggle up to a human. Food looks disgusting and boring? Pester a human for Churus. I find it weird they are worried about their members of their colony enough and value Polissa and Joh little enough they left and took their kittens in the old. I think if our cats had kittens, they would park on the bed.

i'm going to powerlevel a bit about something sad about feral cats. cat lovers probably shouldn't read it.

i'm thinking about stories Meemaw Meowzers would tell me about growing up on the farm and how cats were just, like...disposable? there were all these inbred half feral barn cats everywhere and they were pests, if anything. they would just regularly find half eaten corpses of dead cats in the corn field, or litters of kitten skeletons. the farm boys would shoot at the cats for fun. this old habit never really died, because great pawpaw meowzers would shoot at beloved pet housecats until he got too old and the family had to take away his guns. this was obviously all very horrifying to hear as someone in a generation of sensitive sissy snowflake animal-lovers, but uh, yeah.

but white trash doesn't die in just two or three generations. it's still there, out in the country i still hear the half feral farm cats fighting at night, and the idea of an indoors-only cat is unthinkable to family out in the country (honestly i didn't even know it's frowned upon among normal cat owners to let cats outside until i was an adult. i thought indoor-outdoor cats were the norm, like dogs). it's not as bad now that fixing cats is more accessible and my generation is a bunch of animal-loving city slickers that will psst psst psst at any mangy stray they see in the target parking lot and think the cat distribution system theory is cute and funny. but like i said, white trash doesn't just end, especially in the south where society seems to move backwards. cycle of poverty and whatnot.

anyway, i'm just thinking about how sad it was hearing about what happens to unfixed cats in the country owned by white trash hicks. just being silly and reminiscing about stories grandma would tell me about life in the country! this has nothing to do with polissa. it would never happen because she loves those cats so much, she's a rescue for wayward cats, after all. ahahah...haha...ha.

I didn't know it was frowned upon to let cats outside until I was an adult either. My rescue contract specified that I must provide outdoor access and people still come at me about it ffs.

It boggles my mind that people in the UK keep indoor only cats. I can see in other countries where predators are a serious risk, that you need to keep them indoors. But most people I've met who don't let their cats outside also don't provide enough enrichment indoors, so the cats are just miserable and make for the door whenever its open.
