Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

This is what happens when literal retards work at Pedowood
At least Kevin Smith MIGHT have watched he man as a kid. Stevenson knew nothing about she ra and was born 3 years after the last classic he man property was made (the Dolph Lundgren he man movie) maybe Smith could have helmed a good he man reboot once...before he sold out.. and had that thot he calls a daughter.

Watched the new Aqua Teen and I had the same reaction as the new Beavis & Butthead in which the nu animation might be too difficult to get used to, but the writing and humor are still the same and it's nice that Aqua Teen hasn't lost touch

Figuratively speaking, if Kevin Smith could've helm a He-Man movie in the late-90s to mid-to-late 2000s, then yes I could see it be pretty decent. After all, he was this close to helming the more infamous Superman Lives at Warner Bros. during the mid-to-late-90s. Sadly, the good quality of Kevin Smith has died by 2010 onward

Noelle Stevenson admitted to this with She-Ra. She was stupidly honest enough to admit to it, so it really makes you wonder how many others have done this but were smart enough to keep their mouths shut.
I always found it funny that a woman who clearly had issues with her femininity was allowed to make a feminine show for women.

Considering Mindy Kaling was able to use her fading Office fame to produce a Scooby-Doo adaptation that didn't even feature Scooby-Doo, it's safe to say the bar is lower than sea-level.

at least it didnt turn into another "twelve forever" situation.
it could've but thank god it didn't.
What happened? This is news to me.

Edit: so apparently 12 forever is a mixed bag it feels like was trying to be Harvey girls forever but where as common sense media gave that show a positive review they'd probably have a few words to say regarding the fact that the main character and sone of her friends are ambiguous lefties and there's an imaginary gay couple in the show. (because of course that's in this show. western animation and that go together like coomers and hrt)

But that can't be why it was canceled, Netflix as mentioned allowed she ra and dead end paranormal park which had a pooner as its leading role...there's something else isn't there?

First episode of the second season of the Total Drama reboot got leaked. I think others did too, but I only saw a link to the first. I don't think we can post leaks like that, can we? Favorite contestant got booted off first, and I'm really not sure this batch can be good for two seasons in a row with zero changes to the roster.

Not gonna stop me from watching it all, of course.

I never understood why Total Drama has the same contestants appear in multiple seasons, instead of having a new set of contestants with each season. It's probably to cut costs, in terms of needing to design new characters, and hire VAs to do them, and some VAs already voice multiple characters in the TD series, i.e. Scott McCord (I think that's how it is spelled) voicing Owen and Trent.

I think it's more that people tend to get attached to characters and not giving them what they wants isn't good for the business. It might be less like the parody topic but when it's obliviously fully scripted fans are going to react like any other show. It's just easier to get fans to return to see what their favorites are doing or how they are going to expand an early kick out than get them excited on completely new characters that are going to be done after the season.

Only scripted shows that have mostly new characters all the time are mystery shows. They tend to have few regulars around the main detective(s) but otherwise give all new cast to each mystery. The fun of mysteries is seeing if you can figure it out before the show tells you the anwer. All new characters tend to give more freedom for motivations, hidden traits and less meta information about the production to work with.

It's probably partially what you said, but I just enjoy seeing characters I like come back for another shot at the money. Also gives another chance for characters that barely got to do anything to get some spotlight. Like Noah was basically a nobody that was only known for being annoyingly shipped with Cody. After World Tour, he became a fan favorite because he was just funny and stuck out way more than he ever did before.

One detail I always liked in underfist (billy and mandy spinoff) is not only has hoss Delgado gone from 33 to 48 (though the kid characters haven't aged whatever) he does indeed have a streak of white around his hair and isn't in the best shape he was in his prime. Sure it's no where near the snow capped Antarctica of white his inspiration kurt Russell has gone, or even Bruce who's grey around the sides, but it is still a nice touch.

Really sells the idea hoss may not be the same young, spectral exterminator he was when he first appeared but he cam still strap the chainsaw Hand on and kick ass when he needs too.

I don't know, maybe I just miss the days where stories about old heroes, meant them coming out of retirement to show they may be old but they aren't obsolete. Unlike today.
