Youtubers are the worst type of people

You mean you don't get paid a dollar for every winner sticker you have?
We've had a pay raise to keep up with the cost of living due to inflation, but I was mostly referring to users singling out people.

Why do you think so many Youtubers end up with threads here? You thought celebrities were attention whores back in the day? Well, now attention itself has become an easily measurable and tradable commodity. Sure, there was shit like the Nielsen ratings and box office numbers, but even the amount of time and what parts a person watches can be dissected and analyzed extensively, and other people can very publicly attack you for it.

YouTubers are conditioned to be the biggest attention whores on the planet, because not only do they have to try and pull in as many people as possible, the system (algorithm) is fickle, and can change at a moments notice for corporate interests. Try NOT compromising your morals in that situation. Also stuff like, you know, actual art that takes time and effort, like shorts films or animation or whatever, may get a decent amount of views, but not make shit in revenue, requiring the channel to do some gay ass podcast or something, where they either are not entertaining, or overshare and get stuck in some nonsense drama. I've seen it time and time again, it's getting very tiresome.

This also causes the reliance on previously created properties, people have to talk about Nintendo shit or whatever because that's what will attract the most cattle viewers, as it's harder to project an original idea or concept. That or they have to struggle session their original concept with internet drama and/or culture war bullshit, not allowing the concept to stand on it's own two feet. Say what you will about the old school studio systems, but at least it was just the movie, or the show, as itself, as opposed to, "hey, you don't like this, that, or the other, so see this to show em", it IMMEDIATELY makes your idea look a grift, no matter the actual quality of it.

Additionally, the bringing up a subject, then declaring " I can't talk about __ on YouTube"
Then why bring it up?
I've only seen that done in order to shill another website where the content creators has more videos but you have to pay a subscription for it. I'm guessing it is just more milquetoast takes but there is no risk of losing ad revenue.

I have some sympathy for Sinatra in that YouTube is still holding over $1,000 in superchats he had on his main channel before it was demonetized. However, that was like 4 years ago and he’s still just relying on YouTube for his living instead of doing anything else so… Maybe time to grow up and get a job, you have a white and three kids for fuck sake.

The thing is, this works.
There have been studies that revealed that people are more likely to like, comment and subscribe if they're told to do so.
Look it up.
Well of course it works. That's the point. It convinces some people to like/comment/sub even if the video otherwise didn't make enough of an impression for them to do so without being prompted.
The issue is that youtubers feel like they have to do this. It betrays that ultimately you'd rather employ tricks to see those numbers go up in lieu of just making a better damn video.

That wasn't sin, just a post that came up as I scrolled.
He used to be entertaining, but most of his content is begging or crying about some new expense. Once in a blue moon someone will suggest getting a stable job, and he'll sic the chat on them and whine that begging for 1k donations is gruelling labor.

Most of these autists have no financial skills. They blow all their paypiggy money on frivolous shit thinking the gravy train will last forever. The rest they sponge off mommy and daddy. Unless you’re a “legacy” YouTuber like AVGN or PewDiePie who were just people there at the right place and right time, it ain’t gonna last forever, much less be a “career”

Once mommy and daddy die and once your fifteen minutes of fame are up, people will move on to the new flavor of the month, leaving you panhandling and whining online to the dwindling handful of remaining paypigs, no different than a bum on the street. At that point, you’ll be middle aged, no work experience besides “I made da funneh video online!” and will have to settle for some entry level wagie job like flipping burgers or pushing buttons on a register because you frittered away your time playing around instead of developing skills that apply to the real world.

Don’t hate them, pity them. Laugh at them too.

I extensively use the "do not recommend channel" option to filter out undesirable channels. It helps a little. I'm mostly sick of reaction channels that provide zero substance. Like just a literal who or a group of literal whos reacting to something popular.
It blows my mind how bad youtube is at suggesting new content to its users. I exclusively use the site for music theory related videos and the occasional (metal-adjacent) playlist. Yet my suggested feed is swamped with react content, flavor of the month mainstream pop and whatever annoying influencer the site decided to push this week.

Literally just give me more of what I want and I'll use the site more, instead it feels like I'm at a BBQ and you're trying to force a bunch of tofu down my throat.

Youtube 2010: I eat a spoon of cinnamon (30 seconds)
Youtube 2023: A woman ate a spoonful of cinnamon, here's what happened to her liver. (30 minutes)
But first! This channel has been demonetized, but fortunately, I have a sponsor! Let's hear it from Established Titles!
------
(Footage of woman choking on cinnamon is blurred to shit)

The blurring shit pisses me off.
I used to occasionally watch "meme compilations" or whatever with my friend but like a third of them had the entire screen blurred? What's the point of even including them then?

How do you expect me to earn a living if I risk YouTube demonetizing ot copyright claiming my hard work? This is how I earn my living

My youtube is mostly just shit I've already seen. Discovery is a pita.

The other side is, it's fucking hard to find shit you've seen on youtube. I watched a music theory video on "bad guy" from eilash or w/e. Talking about how a certain cadence in the music goes back centuries. can't find it again.
