I left disliking that James Somerton faggot a lot. He obviously wrote fan fiction of "White women" that no doubt rejected him when he was younger and "finding himself". That's probably when he decided to be a fag and never grew out of it.
Now he's larping as some insightful critic when most of his videos were just straight out reciting books/articles.

My thoughts is that this whole video is essentially part-hitpiece, with the addition of "safe"/"decoy" targets (Illuminati, James Somerton, and the like) to "butter up" the hit against his "main" target (Internet Historian).

Internet Historian's "plagiarism" stuff was resolved months ago, and I'm 100% certain that the reason Hbomberguy is bringing him up now is because he's mad about Internet Historian's political opinions or continued friendship with JonTron or whatever, and is just using the plagiarism stuff so he doesn't look pathetically petty about screeching that a big YouTuber is a "chud".

Did you watch any of the video? Do you know what a hit piece is? Why did this guy bother to mention IH's efforts to "fix" his video then? He could have just left all of that out and conveyed the exact same point. If anything, he was fairer to IH than he should have been. James Somerton was clearly the main focus and the bulk of this video, everyone else was there leading up to his exposé. Not going to lie, you sound like an IH fanboy. That guy is a millionaire and doesn't know you neither would he care if anyone defends his honour on a forum he probably deems problematic.

It doesn't really matter that James Somerton is the majority of the video when the most politically "charged" bits are for Internet Historian. The length of time that Hbomberguy spends on Somerton can be argued to be a "distraction" from his real goal.

This is just dumb. He straight out called that Somerton sodomite guy a misogynist and claimed he's "erasing queer people". You can't get anymore politically charged than that.

You can only tell a story in so many ways without it sounding the same retard.

He regurgitated the article verbatim. He just straight out made a voiceover of it with fancy animations. He could of just reached out to the guy and did a collaboration of sorts, share maybe 10% of the revenue. He'll end up saving money without having such a mess to deal with.

It literally would have cost him nothing, and it would have saved him a good deal of trouble. Nobody views him as an authoritative primary source, he's entertainment.

I thought the bit in Hbomber's video on him was a slam dunk, but I still disagreed with Hbomber's interpretation that Internet Historian being dodgy with the facts meant he was being deceiving.

That kind of thinking is predicated on the notion that you need to do ritualistic public apologies every time you make a mistake as a YouTuber. IIRC, Internet Historian hashed things out with the article's writer after the original video got copyright struck, the video was reuploaded with full credits, and things were settled from there.

At this point, I'd be clenching my buttcheeks if I were IH and hoping that this was the ever-popular excuse of a "rogue writer" and not a problem that went all the way to the top (him). Because if he has plagiarized elsewhere, it's gonna be found now. Even if there isn't any other plagiarism present, his comments section, twitter feed etc, are gonna be full of critics til the end of time, because he got caught.

Who cares? The kind of person who starts hating such-and-such well-loved YouTuber because Hbomberguy told them so is just a retarded drone that wouldn't ever put a dent in said well-loved YouTuber's numbers. Those like Internet Historian and AVGN can just ignored these retards and have them seethe impotently until the end of time.

It's very obvious what he tried to do here, he started with some completely inexcusable well documented cases like Mucin to give himself credibility to try and go after people he hates and try and act like their minor quibbles were as bad or worse.

I don't think he ever claimed that the story of the cave incident is his own work. Just failed to credit the article, that's not the same as claiming its your own work.

i think its really important to understand that most people watching video essays have them going on in the background while doing something else, in my eyes that makes it inherently transformative, none of the people, who watched a video about homosexuality in anime would have read whatever article was written about the subject in the first place. because ultimately its garbage that nobody actually cares about apart from being white noise, thats why he was able to get away with it for years.
