I think that it's safe to claim at least 9 hours/day of dickingaroundfor work.
That is an insane claim. DSP does not do anywhere close to 9 hours a day of work. Dark Dave's mirror barely posts 9 hours a day of illegal restreamed content, and dark dave usually has 1 to 1.5 hours of dead air where phil isnt online on top of phils normal 30 minutes pre stream music and 30 minute post pre stream break.

If phil turning on the stream then dicking around in his own house counts toward his total hours worked then so should the commute time to mcdonalds.

on top of thathe has to do sode-work to upload his videos, make titles, make the daily wrap, etc.
"Current game playthough pt 15 - I finished the BIG quest, or did I!?"
*do zero editing*
*dont check to make sure its even in the right order*
*click upload*

Took me about 30 seconds to think up that amazing title and would take another 3 minutes to click upload 2-3 times.

i know we've kind of gone past the AVGN comparisons but I'm slow and I just realized the only reason he started the Ask the King shit is because Doug Walker did it with That Guy in The Glasses mail or whatever. 9 years later and Phil starts "reviewing" commercials because guess what? That Guy in the Glasses did it too

then there is this:
I can't link the WPIG episode because i'm too lazy to clip it. But Phil is asked whether he got the idea for his food reviews from The Cinema Snob and the idea for his wrestling show from Spoony. And he FREAKS out. He goes on a giant rant about how it's not plagiarism because if he wipes his ass it's not the same as the charmin bears or something. The question wasn't even about Plagiarism. But he's so insecure his mind instantly went there

Just from personal experience the math you lot have done showing that Daves averaging 26-35 and hour put him in to my knowledge in the bracket of a trucker the mid 20's for a starter or small timer and for the mid 30's a UPS truck driver. Personally I got a buddy who's pulling around 31 an hour doing interstate line haul and that's not including all the overtime.

Considering how late he is to adapt to what other people on YouTube are doing, I think AVGN-style robust rage-style humor khantent might be his next move.
Brace yourself for "DOOOOOD, THIS GAME STINKS! IT SUCKS BUTT OUT OF A RECTUM'S ANUS! ACKACKACK"
Phil has always cited AVGN as one of his inspirations for his content. You can see this sometimes when he gets mildly frustrated, but not enough to reach his rage-breaking point, as he'll often go on a AVGN-esque swear spree ("Fucking shitty ass balls and dick!"). However, Phil fails to realize two key points about AVGN:
  1. The Nerd is just a character. While James Rolfe and The Nerd share a lot opinions for obvious reasons, The Nerd is a foul-mouthed manbaby who blames video games for "ruining his life," while James is a calm, collected, intelligent, and articulated individual, who carefully scripted his episodes to express his feelings on the games he's reviewing through the persona of The Nerd.
  2. There was more to AVGN than just swearing and scat humor. For instance, in his two-part episode about The Atari Jaguar, The Nerd gave the audience a quick overview about the history of the console, the context of which the system was released in, how the system was marketed, and how it eventually failed to live up to the hype it was presenting for itself. This meant you could walk away from the video with a better understanding about the console wars in the 90's beyond just Sega vs. Nintendo. As for Phil? The only take-away that you could gather from watching his videos is that he suffers from some kind of mental retardation.
So yeah, Phil is an AVGN wannabe, and always has been. He merely copied the surface-level qualities of James' videos and tried to adapt them in the laziest way possible.

Always remember Dave took the time to draw this autistic sign

With Dave not understanding that the AVGN and NC are characters, he seems to have gotten that now but also he wants to retcon his entire careers as "him doing a character". Which of course doesn't work because it's a lie and he contradicts himself about it constantly. Like in the sidescrollers interview where he simultaneously says that he does the character "darksydephil" where he hams up raging at games but also his streams are about the real raw Phil opinions and takes.

WRONG MORON!!!!!

You forgot to factor in him splitting up the part, uploading each part individually, and then babysitting the uploads just in case those dumb fucks at YouTube screw him over with getting his parts uploaded out of order. He has got to label them, describe them, fill in tags for the algorithim, review comments made, make tweets about them, say something on his community tab, geta thumbnail from his dents to use, make sure they have full 1080-style resolution, captions work, add them to playlists.

He does a lot more behind the scene than you think you dumbfuck moron, his work is literally 10x more stressful than a Congolese child in the lithium mines or a Bangladeshi t-shirt factory worker or some Indian actually enslaved in Dubai. So shut the fuck up about how he does no work when he works harder than you! Get banned moron *snake laugh*

Anyways guys, Phil really needs your support right now. Anything can help, likes, superchats, tips, anything. If we reach 50 dollars tonight I will put on the Gunner Glasses for you all.

After watching DSP rage quit Mario Wonder, I got curious if he somehow beat the final challenge from Mario Odyssey ( Even harder than the one from Wonder and took me a solid 2 hours to complete just now ) and SPOILER he used a bug to bypass the whole stage after 30 mins of failing miserably.

King of Retro that doesn't use guides btw

That poster isn't very 'Proud Ally' friendly!

Anyways. Yeah, that ad episode reeked of Nostalgia Critics Attack of the Ads episodes, but you gotta wonder how much connection Phil really has to these ads since he's in his 40. Most of those commercials were from when I was a kid/teen. Doug seemed to know them, Phil seemed to just know the product. And Derich, who suggested them all, sure as fuck doesn't have any connection to them since he's around 21 and wasn't born. Someone younger than 9/11 ain't gonna know Crossfire or Popsicle Zone or Lion King fast food toys. Derich likely grabbed them all from just randomly grabbing commercial playlists.

We all know that Phil only said that to protect his ass. It's blatantly obvious that he's not "playing a character", it's just that Phil wants to sucker in more dentheads, and if he fucks up, he wants to have an excuse handy in case someone (like the Sidescrollers podcast) call him out on his idiocy.

His current cope, if some MORON asks, is that unlike all the other girls he does "meaningful" reaction content. A year ago react khantent was the LOWEST form of content creation and you would never catch DSP doing sell out style react content! Then he realized he could get money and not have to play video games so suddenly react content is ok if you have a meaningful connection to the content.

Whats meaningful about a random bunch of adds? Well he will have you know that he *checks notes* was alive while those things existed and *double checks notes* consumes pop culture. Who else on earth has done that?

To no ones shock it turns out "meaningful" is just defined as whatever the fuck phil needs it to mean in the moment that makes it ok for him while somehow making it wrong for everyone else and double wrong for everyone more popular than him.

-Thinks the world isn't fully 3-D (whatever that means) and you are just looking at 2-D objects.
The only sense I can make out of this is that Phil is pointing out humans have true binocular vision out to about five meters, give or take. You can judge distances further than that by seeing objects of approximately known size.
And this is likely why 3D movies make a temporary comeback every 30 years or so. They're cool at first but the bloom wears off real fast. If you try to force the illusion on something that isn't close by, it looks like a model or something much smaller than it's supposed to be.
Used properly, it can be very effective. International Space Station in 3D worked brilliantly because there's not a whole lot of room up there so the camera was very close to the subjects. I'd imagine a 3D IMAX tour of, say, Egyptian tombs would also work for the same reason.

This is way too in depth and I just assume that Dave saw the 2.5D Build Engine games in the 90's where most of the objects are 2D sprites that rotate to face the player and assumed that's how reality works at the time. Then that factoid got buried deep in his brain like his definition of a "rainy day fund".

He has been really ramping up the begging lately.

Tip me NOW.

Phil is starting to sound more and more like Bob Tilton or some other teleevangelist.

“There’s someone sitting out there, and the lord is calling to him to tip! Well do it now friend! All it takes is a few dollars more and we can wear the hat and chill!”

Has there ever been an attempt by someone to try and shift the Whale's attention to someone else? Specifically, something like grabbing OIC or Derek, doesn't matter, and pushing them onto another streamer who will value their support?

I know it's not something easy for multiple reasons, them becoming overbearing on the new streamer, who to even choose to not perpetuate this as a cycle, how to break pignosis by actually having the patience to talk to these retards, etcetera, and slowly killing them off his HR department, but has it been attempted?
