He's lost about 1% of his subscriber base since the video. Probably the small overlap in the venn diagram of Hbomber fans who didn't realize they were subscribed to a heckin' nazi.

Sorting "new" comments on his latest video and 50-60% of the comments are still about the plagiarism. Is it actually disappointed fans or reddit raiding? I'd guess more the latter. New video is at 5% dislikes where he is usually in the 1-2% range.

That's just gauche faggotry more than anything. The original strain of postmodern art/literature makes sense in context as a sort of aesthetic of the apocalypse inspired by the bombed out husk of postwar Europe, but what's left over now nearly a hundred years later is just a bunch of commie queers mistaking the circumference of their prolapses for intellectual depth.

He's been using that wallpaper background for years and it occasionally gets damaged in stunts for the sake of comedy. His labcoat is just a tongue and cheek continuity thing like a lot of his jokes. If you watch carefully there"s like a dozen blink and you miss it callback jokes that only mean anything if you're a regular watcher.

This is one of the more confusing things about this thread because a lot of people here seem to take his sarcasm and humor as him being 100% serious and malicious. Comedy is subjective so if you still hate it and it pisses you off thats fine, but this is by and large why his videos are so popular despite how long they are; a lot of people think he's funny and entertaining. You can decide what that says about society.

Some guy on Twitter emailed Lucas Reily (the author of the article IH plagiarized from) (Archive) and apparently because shitloads of hbomber fans have been emailing him about it, he's made a brief response.

TL(azy);DR :
  • He finds it "very hurtful" that IH jacked his shit, because he spent a month writing it and did a load of research
  • He knows the first video got taken down, but didn't know it was reuploaded
  • IH did not and has never contacted him directly, and to his knowledge never contacted Mental Floss (the article publisher) either. Apparently Mental Floss's lawyers contacted IH after they saw the video but he doesn't know what was discussed.
Overall, not quite the gotcha that the Harry fan who posted the tweet thinks it is, but it is interesting, I guess.

People on reddit are spamming them as proof that IH is actually a heccin chudderino, and while a pleasant surprise, I'm a bit hesitant to believe them as he's been a more or less completely apolitical person in all his videos and I've never really seen anything that shows him to be anything more than a liberal centrist.

And no, dunking on sjws doesn't make you right wing.

If you watch a lot of video essays, like me for instance, you will never escape Breadtube. This is mainly because the video essay niche is mostly dominated by breadtube, and they're the most popular essayists on the platform. Even if you directly tell youtube not to recommend them, when you watch longer form videos youtube is going to think you actually want to see otherwise.

I remember I got to meet Tommy at a gaming convention (along with a few other G4 hosts) in August 2005 in HS. I was big into G4 (pre-Techtv merge) in 8th-10th grade around the time of Judgement Day and Electronic Playground were around. Sure, Tommy had some really shit opinions about videogames and even as a teen, some of his bizarre claims about himself raised my eyebrow, but he was an overall nice guy on the G4 forums (when he did post) or in person. Once Techtv merged in late 04, his time at G4 was pretty much beginning to end, as for many OG programs and their hosts started to bleed off in 2005-2006 and Xplay became the defacto game review show and for what many after only remember of G4.
Now that he's back into the spotlight due to the Intellivision scam couple years ago and Hbombers video, after an entire generation of this guy being practically forgotten, every single ankle biter that was probably not even born when JD/EP was being aired are now pretentiously acting as if they're informed about the guy and "care" about his crimes because their eceleb shepherd brought the topic up and nothing more. Christ almighty I can't stand seeing those comments.
