Yeah, that's something that bothered me as well from the announcement to the debut etc. All vtubers I watch use a name that goes with the character, the kayfabe. If someone graduates from one persona, they usually adopt an entirely new persona with a new name and a new avatar. I can only think of one vtuber I'm aware of who kept a similar persona between avatars, and that's Rushia/Mikeneko/Nazuna - she outright got the same artist who drew Rushia to make a new model for her as Mikeneko, but that's for another thread.I was randomly thinking about some shit, so I skimmed back a bit and if I missed this already being brought up somehow sorry in advance but for some reason it just really bothers me that his vtuber account just uses his real name instead of like a different username/alias thing. The trend amongst certain youtube/internet guys over the years that started just using their real name on everything after a spike in popularity always gave me weird vibes, but this specific case is even weirder to me, especially given the super elaborate 8 minute long "lore" video.
With Fredrik, he started being Loren the Owl but kept his regular streaming/video demeanor. Obviously I don't know Fred IRL so I cannot say how much of his streaming personality is his real personality, but almost all creators have a video voice and a normal talking voice. The shift from facecam to owl avatar and now to anime catboy hasn't changed his streaming persona, aside from somehow being even more gay and obnoxious than he ever was during streams with Jabroni Mike because he was the foil to Mike's horny, childish antics.
If/when Fred drops his Astraline connection, he'll probably go back to streaming with the owl but he'll still just be Fredrik Knudsen like he's always been.
I can't think of any other streamer (that I watch) who has put not only his real name, but his real face to his content. I don't know about the rest of Astraline because I don't care about them.
