He mentioned scrapping an entire novel because they thought it was bad - his publisher obviously wouldn't because they want the money.

I think Pat saw a similar interview and decided that "beta readers" would make him sound more like a real author. He was openly asking for them on Xitter so I don't think he's going to get real feedback.
