They pretty much admitted to that after researchers started calling them out and then journos picked it up. They put out a blog on how it works, but basically they just fed it text and still images like any other model, then edited responses to make it seem like it could respond to voice prompts and in real-time.

The french company Mistral released the weights for Mixtral, a 7bx8 Mixture of Experts (MoE) Model this is the same type of model GPT4 supposedly is.
I didn't have time to test it a lot but I gave it my typical barrage of programming questions in obscure old languages every llama/Yi/etc. model was completely lost with and it passed them with flying colors. I gave the same barrage of questions to ChatGPT and it struggled more. Most of all Mixtral was successful in fixing errors when pointed out that something didn't work as expected, something that ChatGPT is almost incapable of. I think this model might be smarter than any llama 2 70b, it at least follows instructions *a lot* better and is more accurate. As a 7b MoE that selects two experts per token from a total of eight, it's inference is at the speed of a normal 13b while consuming around 45 GB of RAM at Q8. Maximum context size is 32k tokens.
Also a random odd but funny detail is that it speaks almost perfect german, something even GPT4 struggles with and llama 2 just cannot do, not even when finetuned on german language.

I know some models are simply not suited to this kind of thing, but the confident way it asserted something so obviously wrong in this case was really funny to me.
On another note, some of the models trained for dealing with coding have been fantastic for very minor things I've been meaning to do for a while. Very interested in where this will be in another 12-18 months.

i used ai dungeon for the first time since everyone found out it was flagging any story with words like "girl" and paying indians to sift through thousands of them
griffin isn't the worst model to be using but it stinks even if you give it excellent input, and the company clearly doesnt care about the user experience by making the ui the choppiest shit ever and giving you little customization
for comparison, this is how much customization over the interface novelai gives you:
and this is how much ai dungeon gives you:
also they removed exporting stories and you can't write user actions (do and say) without having the ai generate something
the only advantage over novelai is how it has free generations that refill quickly so you dont have to hop between IPs but it paywalls the fucking generation settings
apparently it can "decline" certain generations even if you have sex mode on, which either means a blacklist on a few words or it asks the ai if each generation is "ethical" or not
