Imagine if you applied this logic to bathing:
"When you embark on a 'hygiene journey', in hopes of being in a permanently clean body, it's difficult to fully understand what that means. The soap and the washing you are engaging in must continue for the rest of your life if your objective is to 'keep yourself clean'. This often requires that you have a mental preoccupation with your body odor your whole life. Your whole life, fixated."
She's also overleaping the fact that for someone to reach unhealthy dimensions (as opposed to just being a bit overweight and out of shape) they have to be unhealthily fixated on food/alcohol. That fixation is also sometimes for their entire shortened life. So which is better?
(It's also a hallmark of laziness that these people can't conceive of someone pursuing something in a dedicated fashion for life. Musicians, artists, scientists, philosophers... all of them unhealthily fixated.)
