I enjoy the gameplay loops of all MegaMan, X and Zero games to one degree or another (though that weird mission system in Zero 1 never did it for me and I'm not too convinced Megaman translates well to a Metroidvania style as long as it's about quick and snappy action) but the narratives for the most part float over my head. When I was a kid I thought Zero was cool (and a girl...) and when you could play him on X3 I thought that was the coolest shit ever and in X4 I preferred the saber playstyle, though not sure if it was because it was fresh or I legitimately prefer it.
Basically, I got suckered by Inafune's OC from a mechanical standpoint, but the story is anime wankery at it's wankeriest. Zero I played through all 4 and was pretty much a mess and after playing Gunvolt 1 (and having zero desire to stick with it since I never got comfortable with how Gunvolt played mechanically) I can only assume that is the apex of Inti creates writing.
I wouldn't mind a new X, or Zero or XYZ or Pi or whatever game with the same ol formula, but I perfectly understand as well why nobody wants to do it and why some characters also fall on "not worth it". I also fail to imagine how much damage the gatcha must have done attracting coomers and retards into the fandom.
