i like the gist of what you're saying, but it sounds like yo have some kind of social service job at some government agency or some NGO that's basically entirely funded by the government. at this point it's hard for me to distinguish between leeches on society and the codependent narcissist rackets that keep enabling them

maybe you should save your righteous indignation until you’re not suckling off the teat of the government just as much as the loser millennials/gen x you service

Should’ve considered the importance of keeping on the straight-and-narrow when there are multiple well-funded groups who (for decades) have been trying to take you down, and looked for even the smallest fuck-up to weaponize. The fact that they weren’t cognizant of this goes to show how little they cared about gun rights to begin with.

NRA is a fucking dumb organization at this point. If you actually care about gun rights, support Firearms Policy Coalition. I send them $100 on my birthday each year, and kick more their way when I can. They put all of their donations and sweat into legal action, instead of throwing pennies at lawsuits (where others do all the heavy lifting- and claim undeserved victory if it results in a pro-2A ruling). All that the members were paying for in the last ten years were more houses, jets, vacations, Rolexes, and suits for Wayne, Ollie, and Co. The NRA fully dissolving won’t kill the zeal and energy of the membership body, or those who are pro-gun- that will endure. Instead, they’ll search for something less corrupt to fill the vacuum, and build that up. Just think about the impact FPC would have if they received anywhere near the funding NRA does (they’ve accomplished quite a bit already with their comparatively meager budget). Hopefully, more people realize just how much more resourceful FPC and others can be, and throw their support where it can really make a difference.

Gun rights and the associated movement have existed on our soil since 1776, and they don’t live or die by whether the NRA exists or not- they survive by the constitution. The NRA made its mark, laid critical groundwork, and served its purpose before collapsing under its own hubris. Now, assuming the sheboon’s efforts result in the organization ceasing to exist, others will pick up the torch and build off of that groundwork. I could see some deal being struck where Wayne & Co. are thrown under the bus in exchange for the organization continuing to exist…but if the doors actually close, the resolve of the people to maintain their civil rights will remain unchanged and won‘t disappear. Hell, it’ll probably just get stronger.

In 2023, how relevant is the NRA, truly? Think about it in this context: What has done more to birth and influence the new generation of 2A enjoyers?

or…
B.) Call of Duty?

I think you guys know the answer to that one.

I love the TIME article so much because it is a perfect example of these people having exactly zero imagination and critical thinking. They literally cannot understand the implications unless they are spelled out explicitly, they will read that entire thing and just accept it as normal because TV Man and Twitter Verified said it was ok. They are utterly incapable of self reflection and going "what if things were reversed" because of their operating in Movie Bob Morality and Calvinball rules of conduct.

My concern is they're doing it because they've moved on from the "get as many supporters as you can" stage and are now "convince your supporters X thing is an existential threat to them and amp them up to think they're in a final battle" stage. They're 100% hoping that even if Trump wins they can get the people they have left to view his administration as an evil force that will justify the use of any means to stop it.

Not Gehenna, but IMO it comes across as the Plan B since the economy isn't a winning plank for the Biden admin given how disastrous the actual numbers as. The problem they desperately attempt ignoring is that this sort of culture war issue only works when the economy is doing well; people are worried about finding a single sustainable job which can put food on the table and a roof over their heads - ignoring that and lambasting your opponent as "muh fascist dictator" isn't going to fly far when Trump has a whole term of economic success to point to alongside a peaceful transfer of power.

Yet left to play this card the Dems are because they have nothing else to run on; their diverse minorities hate them for Israel, their (private) union base fears for their future prospects, and the average independent can see what glorious Bidenomics is doing to their pocketbook and children's opportunities. If it wasn't for election fortification, establishment lockstep in with media, and the efforts at keeping Trump off the ballot. this election year would already be over.
