The most bizarre part of this story for me is how I can't imagine this happening to any other administration. Even Dubya wouldn't have tolerated the idea that his Secretary of Defense had to go to the ER and he had to find out about it on the news like everyone else. Heads would've been rolling for it.

I know Biden's an empty suit who's only job is to sign whatever bullshit gets put in front of him. But this tells me he's effectively been frozen out of his own administration. The New England Yankee that fought the South is long dead and gone. If anything, there exists a whole body of literature written from the 1930s to 1980s that exists as a quiet and unread elegy to the people that brought forth Frost and Lowell and were among the founding stock of the nation. I don't know why people would even be at all surprised that the final authority over the President's
actions is Congress. Who the fuck else would it be? Congress writes the laws, and the President enforces them, so in the event that the President is breaking Congress's laws, it should be transparently obvious that the final authority there should not be the branch of government the President runs.
