I can't really speak to the rest of it but there was a good trend of wealthy Europeans commissioning religious paintings in the renaissance and they would very often have themselves painted into the piece at the foot of god or Jesus or something similar. Vanity is certainly a part of it but not the whole of it, art and monuments can be effected to God but they are certainly not necessary or even something he would command of us.

"Works without faith is dead." In the bible works essentially means good deeds or spreading the word and the faith. An art made to spread the spirit or word of God could be considered a Work. An ugly or meager church would be considered a greater soldier or agent of God if it was enacting works than a pretty or fantastical one who wasn't.

Works without faith is dead. If it is not empowering god or enacting his will through good then it is simply being vain and is a monument to pride instead. Or at least that's how I feel.

And I don't think anyone is arguing over that point.
Rather, against the tired attack against the western world that their churches- some of the real heights of human civilization, direct expressions of individual and civilizational devotion to God- are actually somehow bad because Jesus said gold and silver is evil, or something.
I don't mind the ugly shipping container churches as being what they are, but when people try to weaponize them into somehow being more righteous and fitting a place to worship because ... God hates beauty? it makes my blood boil
Obviously God does not need anything from us, ever. But the temple isn't for his benefit, it's for ours- Jesus himself referred to it as his father's house, the specific place of gathering to praise God, worship, perform rites and sacraments, etc.- and it stands as a token of our faith to especially imbue it with beauty befitting the 'house of god'. Like trumpets and crowns, they are tangible reminders of the eternal glory greater than what we could ever capture, but nonetheless the mastery, beauty, work, put into them reinforce in ourselves the faith we build them to glorify.

I don't disagree at all with building grand and beautiful architecture and art, I'm just not a fan of the motives being misrepresented. My mind currently goes to the American megachurch pastors who know damn well that Jesus wants those donations to feed, clothe and house poor children, not to buy said pastor a Rolex collection. Veneration can occur in earnest, but let's not pretend that the English church becoming monetarily corrupt, owning the most land only after the king, commissioning noteworthy buildings and jewish influence was all a big coincidence. Great and beautiful buildings are absolute treasures that we should cherish, but to attribute them to a selfless cause that doesn't really need them to begin with leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Don't clean up your room in your parents' house and pretend you don't live there. The dishonesty and grand ironies propping it up isn't in good taste, is all I meant.

IME/FWIK, there's a really widespread fixation on Italian leather and French whale vomit perfumes, among other things like expensive wines that even the country folk place a lot of importance on. Obviously my experience is limited, so take that with a grain of salt. In Bongland, they don't seem nearly as attached to that mentality. Americans and Britbongs may spend more money, but not all money is spent the same. I'm not saying that Americans spend it better, otherwise whites wouldn't be rentoids at the rates we are. I think everyone would have bigger houses if they didn't prioritize spending on fast food, veblen goods and taxes for importing cheap labor. My point was that compared to white Americans, I've seen and keep indirectly seeing white Europeans disproportionately spending their money on trying to look rich, while white Americans love thrift stores.

There's a some controversy around the world about India being of the middle east or of Asia. I lump them in with the middle east based on a list of reasons, the first of which being the similarities of the human inhabitants in genetic appearance. Then there's pajeet behavior, which has been becoming more and more noticeable. Considering Bongland's strong ties with the designated shitting streets, I wouldn't be surprised if they generally agree that they don't want it to be thought of as the same demographic as the goatfucking pedophiles. Not the nicest association, is it?

Detached from anything else, do you think Pajeet looks more like Mohammad or more like Chang? Food for thought, even if you're not interested in being convinced, because it's no skin off my bones.

Have a cookie, a nap and a few documentaries or books on the monetary trends that were taking place among the churches, especially the monasteries. They were putting gold leaf into their food and depicting themselves as/with Saints while being greasy merchants with the wool and grains produced by their tenants, who had to wait months for their tiny cut. This really isn't worth getting so upset over, even if you disagree. Anyone descended from those who built those wonders should look at their ancestors with some measured pride, but calm down and speak from more than just volatility.

The Middle East itself is still geographically within the continent of Asia, with the exception of Egypt. I get that there's the clear cultural difference which is why most people don't refer to Russians as Asian outside of some specific ethnic groups, but when South Asia is going to be the forefront British exposure they're just going to get the name first the way they did not in America. Even here in America, Indians fill out Asian on the census because there's not a category specifically for them. This sort of association name game isn't some deliberate plot to denigrate the image of East Asians but rather what happens when you lump everyone from the largest land mass on the planet under one title. It's something like 4.5 billion people out there, of course a lot of those are going to be radically different from one another.

My wife left her laptop on at a party at a friend's house. One of her friends, apparently, booted up Skyrim and he discovered that my wife has installed quite a few NSFW mods on it.
This includes non-human enemies, such as wolves, attempting to non-consensually mate with the player.
The police seized her laptop two days ago, and this morning, she has just received a request to attend an interview at the station. They have advised that her laptop will likely not be returned until mid-2025, but if she complies with the investigation it may expedite the process.
Should she attend this interview? Is it okay for me to go with her to offer support?
My wife has quite a few rather unusual fetishes, but these arise from childhood trauma, so I usually just let her do her thing.
Additionally, the "friend" who found the Skyrim wolf stuff has been posting about it on Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, and emailing my wife's employer (who he doesn't seem to realise is actually another relative who doesn't give a shit.) Is there any action that can be taken against this individual?

There is still a level of absurdity to it though. Most of what I've seen is fantasy monsters like werewolves and green ogres. The wolves are the part which concerns me the most.

There is also a mechanic where she can be "enslaved" upon defeat. That also has me worried. Not sure what the law is around that.

Something to consider for the reddit segment, a hobo goes to /r/vagabond to complain about farmland. Even his fellow hobos aren't having anything anything to do with his shit philosophy which boils down to "I want all the benefits of modern society with none of the inconveniences that come with it"

In the 350+ years we've been a country what the frick has happened. I am 24 and I've seen enough. There is no freedom in this country because everything has been consumed by the beast. In my opinion AmeriKKKans act as a form of cancer to everything they touch just look at all the “free” land in the photos I have posted. Doesn't matter where you go in this corporate country there is no where to go besides the shelter of your own home from the disasters that lurk outside your window. As a vagabond who loves nature and the planet 🌎 this is truly disappointing how we have destroyed this paradise of a country. The same thing goes for the world. We as humans must be the cancer that is destroying our planet. I'm still gaining perspective on how this country has gone to shit but just look at the pictures and tell me what you think. Maybe their is too many mouths to feed but in the future their will be no more land to feed this amount of people because we are destroying everything we tough with greed.

it all comes down to environment, and parents are part of a youth's environment for good or bad. there are a lot of uncomfortable realities people would have to confront and deeply disturbing questions that would have to be answered if they couldn't easily resort to saying "oh you just need a few pills" to flush it all out of mind.
