Not to derail this already autistic thread but, I kind of noticed that lots of self-proclaimed ""right leaning/conservative/trad people"" here, but also outside this website have this weird obsession with being self-righteous to the point of being incredibly unbearable and get very personal over other people's (retarded) choices.
I should write a deep thots thread about normalization and social norms.
I have no idea how to format my thoughts so not to sound smug, but almost everyone argues with severe levels of bad faith when it comes to social norms and "censorship", as well as personal freedoms and responsibilities.
It is true that conservatards are often self-righteous and retarded when it comes to this shit, and they rarely, if ever, put in practice what they preach. There are reasons I never said I am trad. Or religious. I'm basically devoutly anti-conservative, but also right wing and reactionary.
This should not be an extraordinary position, it should be common sense.
All societies have rules. There is NO LIBERTY BASED SOCIETY - but the US leans the most towards individual freedom, and it has been rather disastrous lately. Does that mean China or Russia have a better alternative? Or Saudi? NOPE, you nerds, it does not.
It simply means that people need to argue more honestly so we can find better compromises with less hostility, and take whatever works best from the US, from China, from Russia, from Muslims, from everyone, and create a synthesis of their best attributes.
Will it work flawlessly? Hell no, it will likely be a disaster too, but we will learn from mistakes, and further hone our approach.
Why can't you people be honest? I just can't understand why you think that something as serious as social norms is about you and your petty ideology "winning".
Winning what, more exactly?
