Continuing on with my AI bullshittery. Through the most unholiest of rituals (begging for port info through DirectML on github) I got a fork of RVC2 going on my AMD system. I have decided to test it out with a "stress load", so I trained a rather big voice model that consisted of cuts from Rekieta's stream.

Everything went rather smoothly. Combing through training output data I found 2 states where I was pleased with the clones. With the first one singing sounded horrible (but incredibly funny) and the second was a later point where he sounded like a proper singer. Of course I picked the first point. In terms of cover choices, "Mandy" track was already covered by a fellow member of the forum, who used a different model, so I chose the most retarted song I had extracted acapellas on standby for. As far as I can recall, 45-60 days is about or just under the total length of time for the negotiations the first time around, since Rekieta first started talking about the possibility of a contract not long after being banned in October 2022 and then started doing the Rumble switchovers sometime around mid-December (likely as a trial run ahead of January to get a handle on it). That includes the period of silence (and snapping at people asking for updates) followed by announcing his walking away from negotiations, in between bragging about how much money he was going to make.

I don't know if this is confirmed, but I have the suspicion that Viva & Barnes (practicing lawyers who did some actual legal work for Rumble) vouched for Nick to get him a pity contract when the YouTube ban happened. Over 2023, those two have repeatedly distanced themselves from Nick as much as possible. I doubt they will put in a good word again.

Rumble is also losing money quite badly on these ultra-expensive content deals, and it's a lot easier to cut Nick and the other small players if you have to cut something than it is to cut Crowder (who, IMO, they overpaid quite a lot to get).

Rumble is starting to become a bit of a meme stock so I'm not completely counting them out, but I do not have high hopes for their long-term solvency. Even with Trump having the presidency and getting the regulators off their back.

I have thought this as well, but I don't know there is evidence to support it. I know Barnes, on stream, was rising up against Nick's ban (although I think Balldoman's ban was justified, per ToS on Youtube). I wouldn't be shocked if they put in a good word for him with Rumble. I don't know if, or how much, they have distanced from Rackets lately. Seems like Barnes doesn't drop into Balldo streams like he used to, and Balldoman doesn't come up as a subject matter in the V-B streams.

We've talked about Rumble's financials before ITT. They aren't great, but they're clearly hoping to buy audience still, and they can go at the current burn rate for several years. It seems like most of the Barstool deal was in stock, so that's a bonus for both parties, at least right now.

The short-selling on the Rumble stock is interesting, but I still see this as a situation where they will glide through SEC under a Republican admin, and be gutted by a Democrat one. In the interim, the Dem admin is trying to discolor the whole op as a MAGA stronghold, just so they can fake news them like they have with any channel or network that isn't sucking off the Biden admin. I think given time, Rumble will reach a point where it can be profitable, especially given their investment in their own cloud. They just really still need to improve their end-user UX, and also not be strangled by an overzealous and politically motivated bureaucracy.
