Looking at some cutscenes out of curiosity, and I'm baffled why they went with the decision to have the Suicide Squad kill the Justice League in the first place? It seems so unbelievably retarded, they are so overpowered. All the cutscenes have the Squad stand around and belch out reddit banter as each League member just lets them? Like all the scenes with the Flash have him go out of his way to not kill the team even though he can do it very easily; he shows he can kill Lex in a blink of an eye but he doesn't kill any Squad member for no reason. It's the most extreme case of plot armor I've ever seen.

The game would be a lot more interesting if the antagonist was a D-tier character (like each of the Suicide Squad are) and it was played serious. The live-action movie had the exact same problem, too. The only media with the Suicide Squad that was good was that animated movie, and that was because the stakes/villians were more appropriate for a rag-tag, low-tier villians to take on (and almost all of them actually died).

To be fair, the article seems solely focused on the gameplay and not the story. The fact that it's not talking about anything except for the gameplay, however, makes for an incredibly boring article.

Because they hate you and your heroes and they want to kill your heroes to spite you and make the villains win instead. This is peak postmodern writing. Everything good is bad and everything bad is good. Subvert all expectations all the time.

Anyone saying that this type of gameplay is not shit needs to face the wall and be shot. Gaming and especially gameplay is been on the shitter with many people either simplifying certain gameplay aspects or creating shit ones instead of learning from the past. The niggercattle, in typical fashion will always accept shit/mediocre gameplay (and even grind) and will always do until the games' gameplay is stripped by just pressing a button to win (read: Genshin Impact, the Last of Us 2 and every single MMO).

I've been baffled by peoples love of Borderlands for damn near 15 years now.
The original game wasn't bad. The talent tree system was reminiscent of World of Warcraft and it was a heartful attempt to blend MMO properties with shooters. Second game wasn't bad either, but like most sequels the developers start to add too many gimmicks and increase the scale of everything to an extent that I felt overwhelmed by it all. Later I learned they were just adding gay shit to everything and I didn't pursue the franchise anymore.

All this is to say, the comparison to Borderlands doesn't mean that much to me.

My son and I saw a commercial for the game tonight on TV. He asked me about it. When I told him what it was (we played the Arkham games together and he loved them) he was disgusted. Doubly so when I told him about Kevin Conroy.

They used the Brainiac brainwashes Batman plot on Superman the Animated Series:
However, unlike the supercool people who made this videogame they didn't resolve it by murdering him and desecrating his corpse, which seems like a missed opportunity. Wouldn't it have been considered so much better if they had?
I remember that episode, Bruce Wayne under mind control fighting and killing a literal crocodile/alligator and just walking out of the water is a really badass scene.

It is almost like the nu-Rocksteady never saw that Batman Animated Series episode "Lock-Up" which shows how much Batman does care about people, even his rouges gallery, and wants them to get better. However, we are dealing with a generation of writers who have been utterly buck broken by their communist professors and believe anybody that is rich and fights back against mentally ill criminals that kill people are agents of Satan.
They also never read The Killing Joke, one of the darkest Batman stories. After all that Joker's put him through, after shooting Barbara Gordon and crippling her, after putting Jim Gordon through a hell ride, after everything, Batman still reaches out to Joker and asks if he can save him. That is what Batman is. Yes, he is a terrifying demon that haunts the waking nightmares of Gotham's criminal underbelly, but he's also a good man who wants people to get better.

Hell, it's like they never played the actual Arkham games. In Arkham City, after Mr. Freeze betrays him, Batman still saves his wife, and tells Fries to "fix her, and quit this life. You're better than this." And in Arkham Knight, the man literally does it again, and lets Victor and Nora go off on their own, knowing that Fries isn't a villain anymore.
When Poison Ivy dies in Knight, Batman is genuinely saddened by her death, despite her having been a villain for so long.
In City, during the real Deadshot's assassinations, he shows compassion for the political prisoners when Oracle suggests it's not so bad that he's killing prisoners.
Batman is a good man, even if he acts like he's not.

Why didn't they just use the Crime Syndicate, especially if they want to do the post game multiverse shit. Hell use part of the plot from Forever Evil event to explain why the Justice League aren't there.
They have to destroy your heroes, crush every mote of hope you have. An alternate version just wouldn't be enough. They need to kill off everything you like so they can replace it with their political dreck, because nobody would care otherwise.

"haha look at this right wing conspiracy theorist talking about this corporation!"
IS LITERALLY IN THE CORPORATION AND PROVING HIM RIGHT WITH HOW THEY ACT.
If only it were Suicide Squad: Kill the WEF, that might actually be popular.

Notice how the entire game takes place en media rez. There was little lead-up to the attack and why the Justice League even became mind-controlled. This is to say that the people who boast their skills at writing didn't even seem to understand how to go about putting together a proper setting and reason for everything. The chief end of all the pieces seems to be to give four misfits the opportunity to kill three beloved heroes just...because.

These people who boast their skills as writers can't even properly build a world for their little postmodern fantasy. It's like they started with "Brainiac controls the JLA" and that was it. Now they can kill the JLA without remorse and blame it on Brainiac.

10 fucking years in development, and they didn't even get their story past its abstract.

They skipped over a huge amount of what happened in between Arkham Knight and this game. Something tells me this game was probably halfway through development before they decided it was supposed to be a sequel.

Just like the Star Wars ST, they just insert this arbitrary gap and inject whatever they please into the screen, a la Korra announcing, "I'm the Avatar, you gotta deal with it."

They don't know how to close the gap or connect events together in any meaningful way, so arbitrary gap is basically their form of history erasure. Something happened between the last iteration of the franchise and the woke sequel. They don't know what, but it was enough to allow them to remake the world in their image.

I feel like this is a get-of-jail free card for the writers. They're being racist, but because they're projecting those sentiment through a black character, they think they're in the clear.
The Green Lantern's are basically DC's "space police". Since the writers of this game are ACAB and BLM supporters they believe that it would be "profound" to have a black man such as fake Deadshot say something about a guy who is essentially a black cop. Sweet Baby Inc. are so fucking out of touch and retarded that they believe all black people hate cops. Never mind the fact that many black people and even black rappers have stated the biggest problem facing the black community is a lack of cops keeping things in order in their neighborhoods and that the community needs more cops.
Batman is a good man, even if he acts like he's not.
Yes but he is also a rich white man who beats up the psychopathic mentally ill. Therefore that makes him a bad man according to my communist professor who buck broke my mind. It has gotten to the point that not only should be checking and see where writers work for like Sweeet baby Inc. but also should check and see what they got a degree in, where at and who taught them. It is the universities that are breeding grounds for this type of writing we are seeing today. It is about time they also be held accountable.

So I've talked with people who unironically side with the villains of superhero comics (probably one of the worst communities I've ever interacted with kill me) and it seems the "nuanced" opinion on the matter, at least from what I've gleaned and put in my own words, is that the idea of "good" or "moral good" is a construct set up by a society driven by the morals of the hierarchy (the progressive stack in layman's terms if we want to go back a few years) and that these ideas are oppressive and ideologically stunting because... I don't know these people are fucking stupid. They have no semblance of any kind of critical thought where they actually have to challenge their own world views. They think that's a new wave viewpoint that's "brave" and "unique" with the big problem being there's no fucking solution to this moral paradox because that's what it fucking is... a paradox.

Moral theory is dictated by society solely on the basis of transactional interactions between humans and, in some cases, nature, depending on who you are, that runs off the question of who gains what and who benefits from it? Saving a person's life from potential death is a moral good because the person saved gained his life and the person benefits from it because he's still alive. It's a transaction where both parties gained something and benefited from it (minimal as that benefit might be). Killing someone is a transaction where the victim in this case doesn't gain anything and the only person who benefits from it is the killer.

This transactional interaction, I'm not fucking joking, doesn't play at all in their philosophy and they almost never think about it because their world view is just "yeah, but, I mean think about poor Harley Quinn. Look how abused she was by society!" It's as narrow minded as it gets and this sort of shallow thinking is really permeating through a lot of millennial works if you can catch on to it.

And for the love of god just because that shit film gave her a sword and shield doesn't mean you have to. She used axes for decades and never touched a sword, and the fucking shield. The most famous thing about the character is that she deflects attacks away with her bracers, why would you completely remove that, something unique that shows power and skill, and replace it with hiding behind a shield.
100% agree regarding the shield making the more famous and unique bracelets redundant, but the same goes for the Lasso of Truth as a weapon: like Cap using the shield, an accessory he's heavily associated with to the point of definement, Wondy with her lasso should be able to do all sorts of crazy cinematographic feats with it in combat to where any other lasso-user should invite comparison to her. Instead, for some inexplicable reason, WW's being turned into... not even a Greek hoplite, much less a unique colorful superhero(ine), but a mere barbarian warrior with a generic fighting style who happens to have a vag.

Hell! Wondy with her lasso, Bats with batarangs, Aquaman with his trident, Green Lantern making up all sorts of stuff to use with the power ring - that's four of the seven founders with unique weaponry to differentiate against one another in action scenes with AND you could easily include Supes using his fists, Flash using Ken Masters-style crazy kicks much less whipping up tornados/vortexes to knock down enemies with between running, and Martian Manhunter's shapeshifting to play up how each Leaguer fights in their own style. But noooope....

This is what I've been saying. Most of the "critic" people on YT don't ever go the extra mile and figure out who these people are, where they were taught, who their professors were, etc. Just follow the stench is what I say. Figure out who the cockroaches are and then let your friends know exactly what they're doing and why your movies, games, etc. are shitty right now.

Also, friend of mine shared this recently:

I think the decision was made for shock value, especially when it comes to killing a legend like Batman with a gun; while it could be said that it's to bookend Bruce's parents' deaths, how it was done in the game is pretty shallow. In terms of media, the JL superheroes being heavily maimed or outright killed isn't a novel phenomenon.

I also noticed that the male JL members had piteous deaths, and the only death that was reasonably dignified was Wonder Woman's.

You could also argue that the stilted dialogue and the decision to have the SS kill the JL partially stemmed from Sweet Baby Inc., which is known for putting their dirty mitts all over IPs to force more inclusivity/diversity messaging into games.

I'm gonna say it. The fact that Gotham Knights conceptually sounded like a better continuation of the Arkhamverse than this game is very depressing. And that's saying something.

Somewhat off topic but I had a theory with my friends that Gotham Knights WAS originally meant to be an Arkham continuation before some decision higher up likely turned it into something to advertise the god awful TV show by the same name or whatever.
Think about it, the story is about Gotham without Batman.
Joker is totally absent and nobody mentions him at all which struck me as incredibly odd.
I'm not saying it actually happened and it was probably an early decision if it was the case. But I still feel like the original concept was a sequel to Knight before the higher ups told them they needed to advertise the show.

And even then it still respects the sidekicks better, Tim obviously isn't fucking dead and hell Batman even gets to say goodbye and say that he's proud of his proteges unlike this game. The fact that fucking Gotham Knights treated Batman with more respect is absurd. And they still did him dirty with that speech about muh 1% and the suicide bombing the lazarus pit.

She is supposed to be the most beautiful woman who has ever lived, who sleeps and prays naked because she completely lacks any nudity shame or taboo, yet they have her covered head to toe in what can only barely be called something that looks like a Wonder Woman costume, she has no tits and a mans face.
She doesn't even look like a warrior. She looks like a random lady you would see working a desk job in some office building. Nothing about her screams this is a warrior to me. Nothing particularly striking or remarkable.

The most pathetic people defending this game are the Harley Stan's. "Guys, Harley went through character growth!", "In the Arkham City DLC she kidnaps Batman! Therefore she is strong and can take out Batman!", "You'll just hating on a queer women for killing your pastey ass rich boy hero."
I think even the Harley Stan's know that this game killed, not just Batman, but Harley too. Harley is now going to be as hated and reviled as Abby. Good job WB.

In contrast, at least Injustice has Harleen seeing Joker for who he really is and she ends up siding with Batman. Shame they didn't keep that ball rolling...
