Rocksteady teases Suicide Squad game

Yeah I thought they'd kill off some low level members and 1 of the original 7 so that way they could sequel bait. For me it was partly optimism in terms of the studio respecting the source material and partly thinking Rocksteady were going to milk the franchise instead of doing anything "daring". I'm still confused as to why this needed to be in the same universe as Arkham if they weren't planning spin-offs but I should've known better than to expect them to respect any of the original 7, except of course Wonder Woman because muh feminism. In my defense the idea of this particular group of villains killing Superman and Green Lantern seemed farfetched to anyone who has opened a comic or even has cursory knowledge of how OP those characters are.
They could have made the Arkham series work from a certain angle.

Originally I thought what was going to happen was the SS were going to raid the Batcave and come up with a plan of attack based on Batman's contingencies. Maybe Batman came up with plans based on villains he fought in the Arkham games. For instance, Deadshot find one of Mr. Freeze's guns repurposd to defeat the Flash a la Captain Cold.

Other stuff could include a synthetic Yellow Lantern ring for King Shark (since everyone is afraid of sharks), modified Batarangs for Captain Boomerang, and maybe a Kryptonite-lined batsuit originally meant for Batgirl but Harley decides to put on so she can fight Supes.

Their best chance is for Waller to line the bombs in their heads with kryptonite and hit the detonator button when they get close. Don't they have any better criminals they could send?
Or Lex could give them protypes of his power suit. Plenty of creative options from the DC world to pick and choose from.

The whole point of sending these four is the idea that a rag-tag bunch of nobodies is going to save the world in the unlikliest way possible. That's what made the Guardians of the Galaxy so compelling as @PaladinBoo was saying a few pages ago.

But Sweet Baby have zero understanding of that concept.

WB also have zero understanding of what made Guardians work. At the end of the day the Guardians are good people underneath their rugged, rough and jaded exteriors. Especially Rocket Raccoon. None of the Suicide Squad have this. As Amanda Waller has stated; "Shut up. You all killed kids." The only people who like these characters are edgelords, soyboys, troons and furries and as we all know those people are subhuman. The Guardians got popular because of this one thing and it was the biggest reason why the Guardians are now a household name, the Guardians are popular with children. Kids love the Guardians. They want to play as the Guardians and aspire to be just like them. Helps that two of their members are a talking raccoon and a talking tree. Kids love that shit.
The Suicide Squad doesn't have that. They don't have that wholesomeness and pluckiness that kids and parents love. They are suppose to be harden criminals who kill innocents and hate each other. There is nothing about them that is really redeemable. As such they are pretty niche with a fanbase that mostly compromises of Redditors and edgelords. WB's lack of understanding on why the Guardians work and why the Suicide Squad don't really shows that they are a company run by out of touch retards.

I might legit return to streaming stricly to rip the game's cutscenes a new verbal asshole.

"I havent been this upset at cultural assassination since The Last Jedi"
"And this is what Sweet Baby does. All they do is act like the pencil neck activities that they are and ruin it all because they never cared for it in the first place. They are responsible for classics like Goodbye fucking Vulcano High, Insoniac's Spider man 2 and Alan fucking Wake 2 and thats a game I was waiting for YEARS and there, they ruined it too!"
"This game is the reason why I mostly stream games old enough to drink because they were made by people who didnt care about political shit, they got into the habit of making video games to ESCAPE from the harshness of reality. These people wont allow you to escape them because each second not worshipping 'The Message' is an insult to their toxic ideology so this is war."

Worth noting Starfield sat at "mostly positive" until it's cornucopia of flaws became apparent.

A lot about the game (SS that is) was leaked before launch so the gaming community did have an early peek at the whole mess. Not to mention the setup is god damn preposterous and they already confirmed the gameplay would be a game as service sort of deal.

Starfield had the advantage of not having too much negative PR before launch.
It’s ok, in a cutscene before the fight they would have found anti-water bullets so they could shoot aquaman until he dies and then make some kind of marvel quip on his corpse.

"He will talk to fish no more!"

Writer: Im really proud of that joke. XDXDXDXDXD

I hate millennial writing so fucking much.
I think he's lurking on the farms, somewhere

Something else needs to be pointed out. We already have reformed criminal superheroes who decided to become unlikely heroes. Plastic Man, for instance, or Booster Gold.

New VG proposal: Booster Gold Saves the Justice League--a story about how former a criminal ends up saving the JLA from Brainiac's mind control.

I had a YouTube recommendation of a cutscene from the game and I initially thought "why would another DC animated film look like a game" only with the dawning realization that it is a game about the forced meme that is SS. Then I come here to see what's it about and my only reaction is :cryblood:
Because Warner Brothers suck at doing SS unless it’s in the DCAU.

They’re trying to make the Suicide Squad these world-saving criminals when they never were and never should be. In the David Ayer film, it made no sense why they exist because if Superman went crazy, Batman, the Flash and the rest of the gang could be sent to stop them. Nevermind that the person who nearly had the city destroyed was Amanda Waller’s carelessness.

If you're not going to make a game where a multiracial polycule of pansexual otherkin piss on the heroes' corpses, you might as well not make the Justice League the villains in the first place.

Part of the problem is that they're not the villains. If it were Booster Gold or Plastic Man, for instance, they would be focused on destroying Brainiac first or discovering some way to reverse the mind control. But the SS don't even care.
Now that's odd, isn't it? How the game's title just straight-up announces what it is. Like we've had Batman v. Superman, Justice League vs. Teen Titans, but those titles implied the two sides with fight each other but not necessarily to the death. And so, in this game, the real villain should be Brainiac and Brainiac alone. Right?
But that isn't the case. The game was written intentionally for you to roleplay very evil people. The title begs the question why it's even worth your time buying it. Unless, of course, you just like roleplaying the villains.

Someone else brought up this point too:
Why was the brainwashing even there? They are villains, why not have them do villain stuff and win?
This is great point. Why was the brainwashing ever a factor? Seems to me the game was leading you on into thinking that it could be reversed. Except the title of the game indicates otherwise. So, the reality is, killing the JLA was always inevitable.

Naturally, people would have imagined that killing the JLA, if inevitable, would mean your characters would have their backs against the wall and left without a choice. But no, the SS is actually malicious. Nobody present before Batman's death even tries to think of a way to reverse it. Not even, "Let's leave him tied up and under a rock somewhere until we kill Brainiac. Batman is sure to owe us later."

It's so stupid.

Steam reviews seem to be positive

Steam is a bit weird about this and I think it's because not everyone who uses it is necessarily up to snuff on the political drama surrounding products like this. Hopefully a few days playing and discovering its broken aspects will lead to more negative reviews.
Steam also requires you to play the game before being able to write a review.
Some of them got a review copy, others got access to the beta.

That even has two ways you could spin that. You could make Booster the clown who accidentally created the evil timeline in his bid for glory and watch him bumble around the timestream trying to fix things. Or you can make him the secret hero trying to unfuck things from the true villain where he plays up being a fool whenever he's around a hero.

He'll, why not make it the Justice Lords instead? Say they've switched places with their earth prime counterparts, are plotting to take over the world, and need to be put down hard before they can pull it off. That way you can have the exact same plot beats except against people who it's comparatively ok to kill.

And remember, at the very end, once he solves the central problem, everyone will immediately have their memories erased due some time stream nonsense. The JLA and the world will be saved, but nobody will remember any of what happened...

...except for Booster, of course. And that's all that really matters.

Which makes them PG-13'ing their movies all the more laughable.
This was DC's hard R flick on par with Marvel Knights. They blew it.

This is giving me serious nu-Saints Row vibes. We're repeating the same song and dance: The awful previews, the backlash from the fans, the coping from shills and devs, videos and social media piling on the game. What we're yet to see is the studio going under and the game going on life support before they pull the plug to complete the picture, except that this is a live service game so it being abandoned shortly after launch could be likened more to Anthem.

What a disaster, I'm becoming aware more and more that I am having way more fun seeing these companies and new shitty games going under than actually playing them. Every single dev deserves it too, absolutely none of them deserve to stick around at this point when they make this crap

It just keeps getting worse for this game.

Even the critics are not defending this game. You would think they would considering the devs and writers went out of their to pander to them but not even the journoscum is coming to the games defense. I can only imagine what the User score is going to be. I think it will be at a 2 or 3.

i don't understand by what metric it can be a 7. What are your standards? What is your rating scale? What does a 7 mean to you? If you asked most people, a 6/7 would mean above average/good.

What's the point of even giving a game a rating if everything below an 8 is just bad and not worth playing.
I would imagine a 6 or 7 game is a game that is at least playable even though you'd rather play another game.
