That's true, but the idea of comparing shitty wages and a workforce in delcine to someone getting murdered by a violent criminal the system is refusing to police is very dramatic.
Canada is still a pretty ok place to live for most of us compared to plenty of other places that are, frankly, absolute shitholes. I'd wager that not even the biggest doomer in this thread would say otherwise, or else they would have cashed in their Monopoly tokens and fucked off to some nigger country. What you're not quite understanding is that for basically anyone over the age of 30 who has been living in Canada for more than a decade or so, most of us can't avoid noticing at least one aspect in which general quality of life here is noticeably worse, regardless if they're personally that bad off. Sure it affects chronic fuckups the worst, of course it does, but even if you're in a position where the cost of everything (especially housing) isn't enough to significantly impact you, keep in mind that shit rolls downhill and if this is a downward trend that it's a matter of time before you do indeed notice, and by then the damage will be that much harder to fix.
People who thirty years ago might've been able to access health care and services that allow them to live peacefully in the community and maybe function well enough to hold some kind of low-wage job are instead raving street homeless who cash their welfare checks at the beginning of the month and spend it on fentanyl because what the fuck is the difference. Police are spread pretty thin and are forced to live in fear of some shitstain ruining their life with some bullshit claim of abuse or discrimination for doing their job, and even the dumbest crackhead nutjob out there clues in eventually that it's possible to get away with crime by claiming "ackshually addiction is a disability and also muh mental health, as a disabled person you cannot legally hold me accountable for my actions."
Health care has gone to shit because of unsustainable numbers of refugees and immigration allowing people into the country with all their ailing elderly relatives in tow to burden a system they never paid into, limited funds have skilled HCWs so overworked and underpaid that they leave the field, their performance goes to hell, and any replacement (if there is one) is probably dogshit at their job having been pushed through some diploma mill and wasn't flunked out because the school doesn't want to lose out on the inflated tuition they charge international students.
Actually, quality control is shit almost everywhere and workplaces end up getting stuck with useless retards because of DEI, and everyone and their brother has a claim that makes them some type of "marginalized person" who everyone is too afraid to hold to standards.
Again, if you haven't been personally burned by any of this, you eventually will be. It's not unreasonable for people like us who have noticed a decrease in quality of life (for us or others) to be concerned about shit getting worse or what needs to change to prevent that. And for the record, out of context statistics that are probably cooked as fuck anyway can be presented in such a way to argue literally any old bullshit. Some of the factors at play here are not easily quantifiable at all, let alone measurable in dollars and cents.
