You ever seen the start of something being astroturfed in realtime?
This retard appeared on my youtube front page apropos of nothing and I immediately clocked his avatar.

1 singular video and a barren channel. Is this really front page material?
It's like when you occasionally see 12-second-old song uploads on the side when you're listening to music.

I put on a "sleep to rain noises video" once. Only once. When my spouse had a killer headache last week. Now our YouTube recommendations on the TV are entirely 12 hour sleep sound videos and literally nothing else. None of our subscriptions even show up in the recommended results on home.


This is not an exaggeration. It's like the algorithm took that one video and completely erased the previous nine years of account viewing data that preceded it. Removing it from watch history did nothing to revert to showing us things we might actually want to see.


It is exceedingly frustrating. Fuck this fucking platform, Google is the shittiest fucking service to ever exist and I miss old YouTube more every day

They seriously can't figure out how to make anything good.

Remember when you could sort subscriptions into lists? That worked great. I could subscribe to hundreds of channels and still have a short list of 10-15 important ones. Really helped me sort out what I actually wanted to watch. In fact it worked so good that they removed the feature.

Try deleting the video from your watch history. If that doesn't work, try "Don't recommend this channel" every time the algorithm suggests this kind of video.

The resolution is messed up for lots of people (me included) when watching a video. This has been going on for 6 hours now. Resetting didn't work so it must be on YouTube's end. The worst part of this is that it happens on UblockOrigin and only goes back to normal when turned off. This is either another attempt from Youtube to stop adblockers or YouTube fucked up the code without checking

This is exactly why I stopped bothering with adblockers on YouTube.

Sometimes it seems like Youtube will recommend the most random thing ever from a tiny channel. Maybe it has to do with the video discovery algorithm.

Every time, regardless of what content I may be watching, the third video from the top of the 'suggested' list is always some random absolute nobody with <15 views on a vaguely related subject.

I assume you have flushed your uBlock cache etc, the typical troubleshooting steps? I have not been able to get this to happen on my setup today so you may have been unluckily selected for A/B testing punishment.

My solution was slowly and annoyingly copy and paste the URL of each youtube tab and paste it onto a new window's tabs. I did that on Brave so idk if that will work on everyone.
 
I love NewPipe so much. It turns YouTube from algorithm and advertising hell into simply a place to find and watch videos that you actually want to see. No ads, no pozzed "recommendations", fast loading, easy downloading.

They've been going back and reviewing videos on my channel from 10+ years ago for some reason, age-gating practically everything they've reviewed. It's all just let's plays. In fact they just decided to delete one of them this morning for "hate speech." It was one segment of an innocuous multipart co-op Saints Row The Third playthrough series. Now there's a warning on my account and they want me to watch a "training course" to have the warning expire 90 days later.

Needless to say I won't be doing that. I haven't uploaded anything in over a year anyway, but I think I'm done posting there at all now.

ETA: Appeal rejected. They have a gestapo-like quiz you can click through to have the warning eventually expire (in 90 days):

It reminds me of the similarly gestapo-ish thing Twitter does where after they suspend you for some offensive post, instead of just deleting it themselves and restoring your account after X days, they make you delete it yourself as part of your "penance."

These people are legitimately fucked in the head. How they can do stuff like this and not realize how genuinely fascist it is continues to astonish me.

Don't remember if I mentioned it in a different thread - near the end of last year my recommendations were severely limited, like it was like 3 "pages" of scrolls before it ended, and 99% of most of what was there was their garbage "mixes" derived from songs I listened to once at most. It lasted literal weeks and was shit AF.

I use brave + ublock origin + tampermonkey because fuck their anti-adblock policy.
And I doubt this is a code issue, honestly.
