Youtube General thread (formerly Youtube Censorship discussion thread)

I've noticed an influx of fake, botted youtube accounts lately. A lot of them seem to use black people / zoomer vernacular, as in "aint no way in ohio" type shit. I think it's typically referred to as hood irony. Something akin to "ain't no way blud" followed by skull emojis seems to be a recurring comment.

No it could be just a regular guy that is indeed an NPC.

I thought so too at first, but notice that I said account(s). It's the exact same brainrot being posted on multiple different ones. They all make comments, or reply to comments, saying "aint no way" or "naahh im dead". They make absolutely random community posts that no one replies to, etc. They're not real people.

Here is one pretending to be a teenage girl.

I'm noticing far more often lately just how gimped and useless the YouTube search function is. Has anyone else experienced this lately? I search something very specific that I know exists and instead I get bombarded with click bait, shit that is in no way relevant and sometimes even gore. How fucked is the algorithm?
One of the things I like about freetube is I avoid some of that issue. One the normal browser you get like 3-5 videos related to your search, then some collections of trending, then something similar but different, then it comes back to your searches. Repeats every couple of results.

Freetube gets rid of the non-searched videos, but it still gets clogged with spam and the odd out of place video.

Got to think though, the sheer size of the library of videos they have to deal with is ever increasing. Must be a fucking nightmare to trying and figure out a database for the billions upon billions of videos. At least 40 million of those are just Indians saying "good morning sir, bloody bastard" etc.

Cross post from the other YouTube thread:

Ad blocker popup is happening again after not happening for me for months.

I have both AdBlocker Plus and UBlock Origins. This was no problem before for me. It just started back up again this afternoon.

Just want to warn/give a heads up to others.

still never seen it, either they aren't rolling it out in Europe or brave successfully negates it.

It wouldn't surprise me if Google/YouTube becomes so petty as to demand Brave quits cockblocking their ads or else they will somehow block it from accessing YouTube.

We live in an age where corporations have far too much say on anything really

I thought that would happen after Brave released a series of youtube ads promoting their adblocks ability to block youtube ads, pretty ballsy move.

Either they are working on an effective way to do it or they arent but simply because there might be some legality on the way (and legality as an obstacle for corporations is merely a temporary one)

YT is now disabling Invidious from accessing videos by doing some kind of "switcheroo" thing with dud videos or some BS like that.

They really want everyone to watch ads. Or pay them. And they would most likely like if everyone paid them, and watched those ads.

Soon we will reach a tier system of paying for ads to go away.

Tier 1 when you want less ads but still there
Tier 2 when you want actually have them gone entirely

Did YT really announce that?

No, I was just saying that it wouldnt be a stretch to see them coming up for something this greedy and anti consumer in the future for the mere desire to get more money and thats it, doesnt matter how much they hurt the brand and communities. They took away so much lately and some of them were placed behind a pay wall.
I'm waiting for a tier system that incrementally paywalls access to videos by the channel's popularity.

Anything is possible when you are a mega corporations with more politicians in your pocket than employees not hired through DEI practices.
