The US is fucked if it ever comes to an armed conflict with Russia.

As the article points out: Their reliance on high tech gizmos isn’t just negated, it’s a disadvantage.

(I’ve heard from foreigners that when they’re anyway near the frontline on the Russian side, their GPS and cell phone signals just die because of the powerful jamming devices. Good luck using that fancy precision GPS munitions if the signal is jammed within a dozen miles of the target.)

Furthermore, while they’re trying to catch up, it’s not that easy. Militaries are very conservative institutions, and anyone rich in ideas and desire for change either is taught to bend within the Pentagon, or they’re quietly diverted into a career killing path.

While the US army is trying to embrace a whole paradigm change, the Russian army already has troops and officers with years of experience in modern warfare.

They have already introduced and are using drone units on the battalion and company level, while the Pentagon is trying to come up with a drone warfare doctrine.

(And I’ll bet you 100$ that instead of actually doing the work, the Pentagon will go along with whatever MIC snake oil salesman who comes up with an Uber fancy, overpriced “AI drone” with all the bells and whistles at the low, low price of 150.000$ a piece. Only the best for the US army, after all!)

Someone posted an article in A&N recently from a blog that's a thinly veiled Pentagon mouthpiece claiming drones have not changed anything. Nothing will change unless the US is faced with a real threat.

We are in a pre-Pearl Harbor WW2 timeline, and guaranteed an unhinged neocon is out the trying to provoke another 9-11. Not for nothing are we having an unrestrained illegal stampede across the southern border of the US.

It seems I overestimated how much the situation would deteriorate over the course of two weeks. I really thought things would have fallen apart more by now.

I wouldn’t say you were necessarily wrong.

The Russian offensive is ongoing, Ukrainians are slowly falling apart and even the Pravda that is The Hill admits that Ukraine can’t win. With or without American help.

This isn’t a war of blitzkrieg attacks and 80km panzer advances.

Remember it isn't just the Ukraine and Ukrainians. I mean, I posted a video of mercs, one of which is clearly a burger. It's seriously deteriorating, US/NATO are just prolonging the inevitable.

Air, artillery and drones are a real problem for fast advances.

The Russian army has a really impressive cover of S400, radars anti EW devices and their smaller tactical SAM vehicles.
They basically own the airspace over the front.

But as soon as you advance too far ahead of that cover, that’s when you become vulnerable to ATACMs and drones.

Not over extending your lines is critical.

We saw what happened in 2022 when they did with the retreat from Kherson etc.

(Even if the Ukrop army isn’t what it was a year or a year and a half ago.)
