Many of those things are legit there for backwards compatibility with early Win32 programs. It doesn't cost much if anything to leave them in. Last thing they need is to give users more excuses not to upgrade. They got enough of those already.backwards compatibility
Also I take issue with his comments on MMC. The Microsoft Management Console "just works" and doesn't need to be updated or replaced. They got it right the first time. You'll never get the flexibility or information density in a new UI designed with current "waste space everywhere" trends. Familiarity with the interface goes a long way in terms of working efficiently and not wasting time. I know how all of those snap=ins work. They're largely the same since Windows 2000. No need to Bing it because I can't find what I need because they fucking changed it.
The desktop being dogshit slow though... No excuse. There is literally no excuse for why the desktop performs as shitty as it does in Win11.
