The S&W Model 41 is one of the finest .22lr pistols you can buy, especially if you can get a vintage one. I'd love a 50s or 60s model back when S&W had its old high gloss bluing recipe that it sadly lost in the 70s. You can get a vintage one in excellent condition for about the same price as a new one, or a touch more.

Just got a CZ Scorpion 3+ micro and couldn’t be happier. With any luck I’ll take it to the range this weekend pew pew
Looks dope dude! I was between that and an FM9, and chose the latter as it fit my needs a little better.

You got an optic in mind? I run a 510c on my FM9 and it works wonders for that application.

Shot a rental one (Mk IV 22/45) at a range. Either it wasn't maintained well or the ammo was dogshit, because it kept jamming every 2 or 3 shots. Plus I couldn't pull back the bolt whenever I took out the magazine to clear the jam unless that's a feature of the Mark IV 22/45 series, for some reason. Needless to say it was a frustrating experience.

As for good 22lr pistols, I'd suggest a revolver for reliable ignition but you can't suppress them as easily, so those are probably off the table.
I can say I've never had anything like that happen with my MK IV, can barely remember a time it's jammed. All of the Ruger MK series are great 22lr pistols, but the MK IV is the only one that is actually easy to take apart with one button. Had a MK II before and even knowing all of the assembly/disassembly tricks it took a while to get it apart for cleaning.

One upgrade I would say the MK IV needs though is the Volquartsen trigger. I put one in mine and it's night and day compared to the factory trigger.

The Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 has been leaked (It's a Shield in .380)
The site doesn't want me uploading the image so here is an archived link to a forum discussing it

FN is suing Ruger because FN says that having 3 of the same letters (S, A and R) in the name of a gun constitutes infringement (SFAR as compared to SCAR)

I have a new perspective on why fudds disparage them "tactical gizmos" because back in their day dudes were paying $70 for a foregrip (assuming this product went on sale in 1990 as kind of sort of indicated in the advertisement)

Versatility or Indecision? (Whatever the cause someone put some effort in because that is a completely custom mounting solution). Also is this a rifle with an attached grenade launcher or a grenade launcher with an attached rifle?

Dev Middleton Made has released the Grandma's Apple Pie AR lower, which I believe is the first 3D Printed lower to incorporate an Ambidextrous Bolt release. (Ignore the title)

ec9 sight picture.jpg

Ruger EC9 FDE sight picture. the EC9 is the economy version of the LC9 (this the EC designation). it has fixed non-adjustable sights milled out of the frame. they are not good for precision shooting but for up close they do the job. the gun has a surprisingly good trigger for what it is. the LC9 was discontinued in 2014 but the EC9 lives on. there are better pocket guns out there but i kinda just like it. don't know why but its pretty fun to play around with.

I was going to use my vortex spark that is on my DD AR on the scorpion once I get an eotech to put on my DD. But hell yeah dude the FM9 and AR9's are badass!

Advice that I can't agree with enough and applies to a great many things (knives, watches, audio equipment, etc.).
Correct. Plan out your purchases and set a budget and you'll be a ok

That's what I did with my two most recent gun purchases and both were gotten for hundreds less than MSRP with no tax 😎🤠

Old style bluing has ended as it was ridiculously toxic and it took a while and needed some skill....

All three factors killed it off.

Well, this man needs a strap to keep his fish and aquariums safe

Also, the Bodyguard in .380 being a SHIELD.... Wtf Smith, keep it the same size and just MAKE IT .32 ACP.

it absolutely can still be done to the same quality just not at the price most people want. turnbull and other high end/luxury brands still put out great bluing. here is a Springfield they worked over:

Probably worth doing considering it's the only Hi-Power worth buying these days at all.
after swapping the extractor for an original one

Tim La France, years ago, proved that the M14 would be perfectly controllable with a moderator/brake
That's basically what the BM59 does, they figured a gun like that with a classic dropped stock would be too much so they put a brake on it. Seems like the kind of thing which would have been mandatory considering the Pipedream Extreme that was the M14 being intended to replace the Garand, Carbine, Greasegun, and BAR.
Consider how easy the Greasegun is to control in full-auto.

the M15 SAW, which was actually adopted but never was pursued in favor of the Colt model 606 in both A and B variations
It's for the better that neither of them panned out. Putting a heavy barrel and a bipod on a battle rifle didn't make for a particularly great support weapon when people did it to the FAL (they're kinda too light for it), and it's worse with an M16 because you're quickly heating up the bolt and thin gas tube. The less said about the L86, the better.

The RPK and RPK74 (as well as the Yugo imitations) are the only examples I can think of where that worked out well, and probably because A), intermediate cartridge, B) piston, and C), they beef up the receivers and trunnions for those guns, which is in addition to having longer and heavier barrels with bipods.

Let's just run out to the middle of nowhere, guys
Custer's Revenge is kind of authentic in that sense.

and his ammo (apparently an issue with the trap door it self) swelled upin a hot chamber required a trooper to use a knife to dig the brass out and load another round.
I vaguely recall a claim that Custer, and at least some of the other people there, had been using copper cased cartridges, which tended to cause problems with extraction. Can't place that claim so don't take my word for it, but it stuck in my mind from somewhere.

It's for the better that neither of them panned out.
they did pan out. the Heavy Assault Rifle (606A and later 606B) gave way to the improved Colt 750 and Colt LMG in the early 80's with BRL and WAK, which in partnership with Diemaco turned into the Colt LSW in the mid 80's. if you're in Europe it was the LOAW and iirc is still in use. it's an open-bolt capable "super HBAR" variant with a special high temperature gas tube assembly used in a light support role and hydraulic buffer. it is true that the original 606 didn't meet the requirements of sustained fire though since it placed more emphasis on parts commonality and mobility than firepower. by this point in time the SAW program was largely concluded, but a 20+ lb LMG was in some cases still too heavy compared to a sub 20lb (often around 17lb loaded) Colt LSW. the L86 was similar in concept... maybe not so much in execution since from what i recall it was the L85 equivalent of the Colt 606.

the Colt LSW
Best I know, only Denmark and the Netherlands adopted the thing, with the Danish army opting to ditch the LSW and pawning it off on their home guard after finding it particularly inadequate at being a support weapon. If you ask Danes who served with it, you'll find they have a lot of complaints about it, particularly from those who were accustomed to their MG3s.
Supposedly the LSW was meant to replace the MG3, I don't know if that was meant as in across the board or just in certain roles, but it didn't cut it, these days the FN Minimi has replaced the Colt LSW, and the M60E6 replaced the MG3.

The Danish one is also a closed bolt weapon, as they observed during trials that the weapon had problems with the trigger pin ovaling out its holes from wear and they requested that change to address it. This might have made it worse regarding heat, but I feel the other problem is kind of telling of how underdeveloped this concept is overall.

it used to be a thing to convert sporterized mosins to .45-70
I've also seen Lee Enfields converted to .45-70, as well as Siamese Mausers.

here is a Springfield they worked over:
The glossy deep blue on the controls is unreasonably beautiful.

Best I know, only Denmark and the Netherlands adopted the thing
Brazil, Denmark, Netherlands, Malaysia, Brunei, Canada, the UK (in limited issue), Australia, Vietnam, USA, Ireland (limited use), and tiny batches in around 20 other countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran (of all places, suspected they bought them from Brunei when they transitioned to the Ultimax), and a few other places that eventually purchased Chinese copies for demo and decided against the model, or simply had better options (the CQ series from Norinco had a poorly selling variation with a two lug quick-detach barrel which was pretty innovative actually, this turned up in Paraguay). official adoption for serial production was pretty much just Netherlands, Denmark, Canada, Malaysia, and Brunei though.

the doctrine that focused on point targets and the "automatic rifleman" that moved organically with a squad didn't encounter heating issues, but did have too little volume of fire for support elements where the SAW would excel; further the modifications needed to bring it in-line with actually useful volumes of fire negated a lot of the benefit of parts commonality and lightweight. instead of the "American RPD" you had something that worked, but in a limited and not future-forward way - not with how doctrine was shaping around the mechanized unit as the standard going forward. so a modified FN Minimi was chosen going forward. the last vestige of the Colt 750 that's seen is little bits of it in other weapons and the Stoner 63 was too complex and high maintenance from extensive field testing of an otherwise great weapon and of course we couldn't keep stealing RPD's and cutting them down forever probably. about the only thing that worked was the RPK and later variants.

Hey guys, anyone here have any experience with Huxwrx Flow suppressors? I've saved enough money to buy a new can and I like what I'm hearing about them but they are not cheap. Primarily what I'm asking is are they worth their price tag given how many good options exist currently? I know I'm asking opinion so please feel free to give yours.

demo'd one a year back. expensive, very durable, very annoying to clean and cannot run wet at all, don't even try. it's a waste of money on their smaller models since the tech seemed to really only work well on rifle cartridges and was basically a gimmick on a .22LR, but on 5.56 it runs very well and keeps blow back very low for such a short can.

I'm looking at their Flow cans, specifically the 762 TI. I don't mind paying for quality if what I get matches the price. I'm hesitant because those are even more expensive than the Thunderbeast Ultra 9 I worked a lot of overtime to get. If I pull the trigger on one (see what I did there? I'm hilarious) I'll post about its functionality after I send some rounds through it.

Did you know... Eugene Stoner and Mikhail Kalashnikov actually met each other in 1990? Their meeting was taped, in it they discussed their inventions and even did a little target shooting. Its rather amusing seeing Soviet Citizen Kalashnikov in an NRA hat in part 4.

It has been done once before, but differently (an extended muzzle device acts as a mounting surface)

I can't say I've even handled one in person. But since you asked aside my 308 gemtec all my cans are from : https://tioninc.com
Know the in person and have demoed their stuff so I'm pretty damn bias but it's definitely quality and easy to adapt and clean.

Even if I wasn't buddy buddy I'd shop thru them.
