It's so crazy to watch the Trapped documentary then the first few seconds of the YourFavoriteSon doc. Cobes now is so far from what he was. It's like the pics of pretty girls in high school who get brainwashed in college. Jarring.

If you compare the speed at which Josh talks in the trapped documentary with a current video you can literally see the brain damage in real time. It's like two entirely different people.

Oh and because I know this might come up Josh is not talking faster because of ADHD stimulants in the trapped documentary. He immediately stopped taking all his prescribed medications when he moved out of Clint's. I believe he was on either Ritalin or Strattera but he dumped all his meds upon moving out.

I absolutely hate documentarians who insist on forcing themselves into their films. The purpose of a documentary is to observe and document. It's why the Trapped documentary is so fucking good. You never see the people behind the camera they just let the people of Casper speak without stepping into to tell you what to think or feel. When you are making yourself the star of it it just feels egotistical like you said. Like "Okay I'm documenting this thing BUT WHAT ABOUT ME!" Reminds me of the 2000s pop documentaries like Supersizeme or Micheal Moore's later stuff which were basically just thinly veiled propaganda pieces.

yeah I get why this guy was in the documentary it was sort of about him, as in these were people he knew when he was young or whatever but the focus here is on this family and the cycle of horrors that repeated itself with this guy and had been happening 50 years with every generation of them, and this shit hole small town and how the poverty, drug abuse, sexual abuse and ignorance of the whole place causes it.

While we’re on the subject of the Gothic King Cobra documentary, I feel like I have to recommend trapped’s other documentary Hampow93: My Brother, Which I Care For

It’s about these two fire truck horn autists slowly revealing their life story as they go about their day. I won’t spoil anything, but there is this huge revelation at the end of the documentary that hits like a freight train and completely recontextualizes them. While it has similar editing, cinematography, and mucic, it’s much more of a character study than Gothic King Cobra. It’s even more underrated than Gothic King Cobra and hasn’t even reached 100k views.

Hampow93 actually has some crossover with the Cobraverse. He’s gone back and forth with Josh and has actually talked to him before.

He’s still occasionally talks about him on his channel.

Thank you so much for reminding of this documentary! I cannot recommended "My brother, Which I care for" enough. If you haven't watched it go watch it now. Just be forewarned it's much darker in tone then the kingcobrajfs one. Like you will be upset by the end and not laughing.

any time i watch an old cobra video or watch the trapped documentary i am just amazed at how much worse he has gotten. but the trapped documentary has this weird unintentional foreshadowing about it especially now.

in the beginning he comes off as just a weird dude who has ended up making friends with various homeless people and other misfits but he was still making the best out of life that someone like him could. but as time has gone on its almost as if cobes was looking in a mirror at his future self.

without clints help i have no doubt he would have ended up just like the homeless people he used to hang out with. it would be interesting to see another trapped style documentary on cobes but i dont think he does enough anymore for there to be one.

Yeah I don't really think you could do another trapped style documentary on him now. For as shitty as the YourFatSon documentary was it did give us a peak into what Josh gets up to on a daily basis and it seems like he mostly sits around screaming texts into his phone and watching YouTube videos.

The one on the left is an Ethiopian welo opal, they're inexpensive. It'll turn piss yellow after a while; they're hydrophane opals meaning they suck up moisture. You gotta try an acetone soak to save it. Avoid them.

Eta: the etsy listing is a simulated stone, which means it's stable and won't discolor. Shoulda gone with the fake tbh.
