Fascinating, I don't think he's coping or playing to the plebs here. He's 110% trying to play up to the arms manufacturers themselves, giving them the opportunity to vindicate their "you don't need a squad of rifles, just give me ten million dollars a piece and I'll build you a claymore roomba for room clearing". Unfortunately what Ukraine has proven to us so far is that, optimistically, the whole "Advanced arms make up numbers deficits" argument only works if its prepared and trained before you end up in a war, not during one. Pessimistically, either the ability for advanced weapons to overcome numbers in general is severely less than predicted, or the combat effective gap between Russia's shit and what the MIC wants to market as next generation is negligible.

For what its worth, I'm leaning towards a mix of not being as big of a gap as expected, and the requirement to be trained on this shit before you hit war, not after. A lot of this shit is designed for use in highly specialized environments with huge amounts of combat integration and superiority, but its being used by Conscripts who's familiarity with drone warfare is call of duty, and think counter battery is the thing in their TI-83 from high school and merely dream of integrated air superiority.

It turns out that the “prototype” cost 5 million dollars to make (lol!).

It was built on an old T64 chassis, and used cheapo Chinese electronics such as a 1MP webcam for vision.

The electronics were made of plastic and would have been destroyed by the kind of vibrations a vehicle of this class would typically face.

Once all the money had dried up, after being stolen, and the Azov realized it wouldn’t go into production (no shit!), they stole the equipment and buried it.

A story that really says it all about the kind of corruption taking place in Ukraine.

Unlike the hypersonic Khinzal, the X69 is subsonic and flies at an altitude of just 20 meters.
