It’s really hard to say. It sounds like he was pretty messed up from an abusive childhood, falling in with a bad crowd, and abusing hormones and psychedelic drugs.

Given Byuu's nerd profile, if I had to pin that behaviour on anything, it would be on "incel" emotions, desiring women and being unable to attain them. I would not default to assume some kind of weird paraphilia. By rights, his one serious relationship appeared to be with a man who sincerely cared for him. I'd reckon they tried many things together. The castration was probably some kind of cope because of the gap between the life he desired and the life he could attain.

It is surely sad. My interest is in plumbing the depths here. Byuu was the kind of edge case for all these concerns that is exceptionally rare. One of the most meaningful outcomes that can be found is for us to thoroughly plumb the depths for that those who might go down the road Byuu did. If we can lay things out so they can see themselves in Byuu, we might save them from the consequences of their actions.

I thought very highly of Byuu throughout his life. I think he would approve of trying to ensure that folks don't fall prey to the traps he did. But we shall see.

I always hated that other people either looked at him as someone to gawk and sneer at, or as someone to virtue signal about how caring and empathetic they were, yet no one ever really seemed to want to actually help him. I do remember the Goemon controversy when it happened and thinking TranslatorTom was mentally weak (as those in the creative space often are) for backing down from the Tranny criticism and deleting his social media. He's still on Twitter as @RetroTranslator.

When Byuu emailed/tried to extort Null, it was around midnight for Null so Null said that he will reply in the morning after consulting his attorney. Since Byuu is a pretty lonely person (even more so after going to Japan) but had some skills, Null will consider making an offer (eg Byuu can help Null with his projects) that would not involve anything with his "bubble" (I assume the emu dev community). Byuu did not wait for a reply and killed himself.

Multiple people had made FOIA requests regarding Byuu's death and one of them received a PDF and sent it to Null in October 2023. Null, just to make sure everything is authentic, sends his own FOIA request as well as the PDF, asking the relevant authorities if what Null received is true and genuine. Null receives no response so he sends a follow up email on January to which they reply they did respond by email. Null did not get the email so he replies to them asking them to send the email again to Hardin (Null's lawyer). But there is still no email or paper copy to Hardin months later.

Then a Kiwi Farms user posts the PDF to the thread about a month ago, which matches closely to the PDF that Null received, prompting Null to make a post on the thread.

Null confirms that Hector Martin's story was correct, that:
1) There was a tranny on the phone with Byuu moments before his suicide, with French Emo Metal music playing in the background.
2) Byuu's ashes in a cookie jar were sent to Byuu's co-worker in Hong Kong, instead of to his ex-husband Patrick.
3) Patrick had been sending emails using very professional blue Comic Sans font to the department of state/USA Government regarding Byuu's remains.

Null is convinced that Byuu is a "fucking asshole" and "dickhead", reasoning that he was constantly involved in drama, and made enemies in the emulation community who hated him, made fun of him on Discord, doxxed and harasses his family/friends, and chased him everywhere (I assume on the upper case I Internet).

Null uses the analogy that Byuu was a person with a revolver with two bullets with nothing to live for, what with having no friends, and being an "alien" and a "pudgy white transvestite" in Japan where he will never be accepted, as a Japanese or otherwise. He had 2 options: Option A: kill himself. Or option B: kill himself and Null/Kiwi Farms at the same time for the sake of a social movement or cause.

The co-worker who was the "point of contact" was in Japan, not Hong Kong, and the ashes were supposedly going to be scattered by the funeral home, not kept in a jar. There's something that's been nagging me about all of this, though. Namely:

Almost always a suicide is a result of a long-term spiral. Steadily worsening mental state with various sources of influence. Basically always a clinical depression. Increasing isolation and disintegration of any normal behavior patterns.

Something still doesn't fit.

Hear me out:

I’d go so far as to say it appears [online life was] his ONLY community, it doesn’t seem like he had much of an offline life or community.

I'm willing to buy into the fact that his online presence meant more to him than his IRL self ever did. Even looking through that lens, from everything we've been able to piece together, byuu didn't follow any of the typical suicidal patterns. He hadn't pre-emptively cut ties with anyone, he (probably) didn't give away his possessions, he wasn't experiencing an euphoria from having made a decision, and he wasn't isolating at the time of death:

1. The infamous unnamed guy who listened to the gay French song for an hour, doing nothing while byuu died, then wrote that retarded Google doc. This was probably marcan, but he denies it. Called at 17:00 and gave them byuu's phone number.

So this means that marcan either knew that his "friend" was dying but sat on his ass for hours before calling, or (if he really wasn't the second person above) never even bothered to call them at all.

We know that byuu was not just terminally online, but also wrote volumes of text about everything all of the time. We can clearly see in the emails to Josh that byuu was composing whole-ass novels even while going all woe-is-me. This is normal behavior for him.

Instead of isolating (as most people would understand it), he made "social" contact in at least 5 different ways on that last day, in his last minutes, 4 of those ways being directly to individuals. This is also normal behavior for him.

There is a piece of the puzzle that we aren't seeing.

On October 4th, 2022 I posted an indepth investigation into a number of stand-out oddities regarding the emails byuu sent Null plus as much Twitter history as I could piece together from archives of byuu's numerous account deletions and rebrandings. Byuu liked to vaguepost, making following the drama virtually impossible.

One of the things I came across was this apparent nod to paranoia:


I didn't have any further context so I couldn't follow that lead.

Approximately two months after my post above, there were logs leaked regarding drama with someone named Dan AKA andientart. (His Twitter is currently protected but someone archived the landing page at around the same time.)

Crossposting new information gotten from retarded furry drama where zoophiles accuse each other of killing Byuu.

We finally have the logs of the original pre-suicide messages with timestamps and confirmation that the last message has been sent to altright diaper-loving babyfur Blumier, just as was described in his telegraph post [archive].

Another (mildly) interesting point is that the furry accused of Byuucide is a pro-Kiwi ex-friend of Byuu who got into a slapfight with Blumier based on Kiwi info, which in turn put stress on Byuu. This is as autistic as it sounds and I genuinely do not recommend reading too much into it if you value your brain cells.

I believe the logs were from telegram though I'm not familiar enough to say for certain. Annoyingly, the logs were exported without pictures so I don't have the full context.

Regardless, it seems there is someone in byuu's circle that is firmly convinced Dan/adientart was the person that put the final nail in the coffin.


I find this interesting because Andient Art Exposed appears to have a strong distaste for Kiwi Farms.

This bucks the usual trend of "hating Kiwi Farms and blaming KF for byuu's death" and so it gives me pause.

Given the social circles that Andient Art Exposed must be running in to have this kind of knowledge -thin-skinned furries with boundary issues- I can't help but place some credance on his opinion.

If Dan was attacking Blum, and Blum was among the last people byuu spoke to, this drama may well be the missing piece of the puzzle that simply got overshadowed in the vast sea of tranny malding post-byuuicide.

I'm way too tired and it is way too autistic to fully explore right now though... it's giving me a headache trying to wade through their ceaseless caterwauling. God damn these people just have endless layers of drama in every facet of life, don't they?


It's worth noting that, sans verification of the FOIA documents, I still hold some skepticism towards the veracity of byuu's death... or at least the author of the emails sent to Null:

Notably, Screwtape took the domains and Kawa took his discord server. I don't think MerryMage would have the near_koukai account info unless MM was LARPing under the byuu_san handle for many months. Screwtape having domain control could mean him using byuu@byuu.org in an "authenticated" manner. Byuu wasn't using that domain anymore though. He had moved to near.sh (https://archive.ph/BGZex). While I'm unable to find a "near@near.sh" address, I also can't find any evidence he was using the old byuu@byuu.org address, especially important in light of completely abandoning the domain almost exactly a year prior.

It's likely the emails the above people had were not on byuu.org because he had previously abandoned the domain when moving to near.sh. Regardless of if he had access to the byuu.org email it also seems even more unlikely that he would email Null for hours and then delete a server he ostensibly no longer had control over, instead of those 4 that he did. Plus, again, Screwtape owns byuu.org - which byuu reiterates on 2020-11-26.

TL;DR: byuu may not have been the one sending the emails to Null on that last day. I don't put a lot of stock in that theory but it also can't be readily ruled out because everything is just so fucking autistic.

Truth be told, given the rapidfire, hyperactive conversations byuu was simultaneously holding with virtually every facet of the internet that day -but at all times remaining hyper-focused on Kiwi Farms- I sort of wonder if he was alone.

I still believe byuu was never a true furry or a true NB or troon. I firmly believe he was the kind of asshole Null believes him to be. The kind of guy who would pretend to be a furry or to be a troon just so he can get at what those types will often have; An autistically pristine vidya collection he can "borrow" for his emulator and then sell off behind their back. I know that sounds strange when you look at today's furries and troons, but early 00's furries and troons? Much more programmers with money than neets living off tard bucks.

He burned every bridge in every community until he had a very tiny circle of internet friends. No IRL associates, probably because the ones he did have in the US he stole games from all for an emulator nobody gives a shit about. No IRL associates in Japan because he doesn't speak the language at a conversational level, just enough to not be a nuisance, which makes moving to Japan even stranger.

. But of course this means that games made by autist gamedevs who wrote their own programs for the GPU can't be played that way. Recreating the hardware features of a console is called Low Level Emulation or LLE. And this second one is what Byuu did.

Well, there is a bit more to that, since Nintenshit 64 was a horrifyingly misengeered piece of a fucking shit, and HLe-ing its' GPU meant graphical glitches, fucked up text, low compatibility with not just only obscure autismo games (custom microcode or some shit had to be written so the game looks better than mayro 64 and runs at more than 5 fps) and the rest of crap that still buck breaks N64 emulators, especially on low-end mobile devices. The same applies to pretty much all late 90s systems, although PS1 thankfully is the least fucked up.

As for why exactly Byuu offed himself - he had some severe psychiatric problems. He was constantly depressed, he once mentioned he never could smile, so I think the only thing that gave him any kind of pleasure was BSNES development, and even then it quickly wore off and became a chore. He got into furfaggotry because other spergs in his circle talked him into this shit, and he thought maybe this will give him any endorphin burst. Same with HRT, both didnt work. Then, he rewrote BSNES into multi console emulator, but years of autismally RE-ing 25 year old technolgy paid a toll on his brain. He was nearing 40, with his gay husband on the other side of the planet and not with him, barely any IRL friend, in country with fucked up culture with even worse language he didnt understand fully, and mental problems he didn't treat. He had money, but whatever he would buy wouldn;t change shit because anhedonia. His mental state deteriorated, he started to bother Null, it didnt go anywhere, so his anhedonia won and he necked hims-ACK
