Sony hate thread

Once again, it makes sense as the PS5 is a far too expensive console for Japanese youngsters in that age range.

What exactly are they playing on Mobile that they would preffer that shit over the switch?
Are gacha games really that easy to sucker these people into staying around for, or is there actual good shit worth playing on mobile that's hidden behind the milions of garbage games?
Well for starters, everyone including their grandma have a phone these days.
Gacha games are technically free and the majority of players are f2p (or spend very little on them - there is also a hard limit of yen spent if the user is below 18 ). Amongst the most popular mobile games in Japan, Blue Archive is basically a simplified RTS and Uma Musume which is a horse(girl) racing + stat raising sim, both of them with a visual novel too. They also regularly get new content updates every month to keep up people's interest.
Playing on mobile doesn't prevent anyone from playing games on other platforms though.

It's worth to mention however that mobile microtransactions are going through a downward trend in Japan for the third consecutive year.
According to an analysis by The Nikkei, payments toward mobile game microtransactions in Japan showed a downward trend for the third year in a row, dipping to 80% of what they were in 2019. This tells of possible changes in spending power, Japan’s mobile game market and players attitudes towards microtransaction-oriented mobile games.

The report by The Nikkei analyzes credit card usage data for the year 2023 and compares the pre- and post-covid performances of 85 industries. Among them, the mobile game market has shown a steady decline, and interestingly, even during the peak of the covid crisis in 2021 and 2022 (during which Japan’s game industry thrived) the mobile game industry was not able to achieve the profits it did back in 2019.

There are also some ports of Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Layton, Ace Attorney and visual novels from what I've seen in the Japanese Play Store
Nevermind the Suika game which recently received an Android version too.

Dreams is a more recent game by the same company and is already getting gutted, with new creations only being able to be stored locally. Honestly surprised LBP has lasted as long as it has. There are levels from 08 on those servers, so I can't act like I am surprised its happening.
Dreams was a massive mistake.

The entire point of the LBP titles, even if they went downhill after 2, was that it could be as simple as you wanted, or it could be extremely intricate. You could spend hours mindlessly laughing and playing user made levels like bomb survivals with friends, or you could spend hours intricately crafting a project for yourself or the public. All of it wrapped up with solid, weighty mechanics and easy to use tools.

Dream completely fucking abandoned all of that, and unsurprisingly it died. I remember being incredibly excited when I heard about it, but it was so convoluted and excessive while actually accomplishing nothing that I gave up on it.

The only time I ever saw dreams get any sort of press was when someone made a really visually impressive level.....where you did nothing but walk, which is pretty much modern Sony games in a nutshell

Supposedly Sony saw a peak in PS5 console sales in 2023. However their initial years of console sales comparatively were hobbled by the lockdown, scalpers, and chip shortages. Their surge in 2023 was also likely because of hype for Spider-Man 2 (system seller hype) and Xbox tanking its reputation even further among normies with Starfield. With the reception of Spider-Man 2 and disinterest in a lot of their recent 3rd-party exclusives, I wouldn't be surprised if their 2024 console sales will end up much lower than 2023, especially after Sony announced they won't release any 1st party exclusives this year. The only thing people seem to be interested in is Stellar Blade.

As it stands, it seems like anyone with a brain has moved on to PC gaming while the Xbox/PS5 console gaming market has been occupied largely by retards too stupid to use a PC but still want to play normiecore like FIFA, Apex, NBA2k, CoD, or Fortnite. Sony is very lucky that Xbox has all but bowed out of the console market altogether.
With the recent build of my new PC my consoles only serve a handful of uses. However, at least the Xbox X is useful for playing old games that are hard to come by or don't run right on PC.

If it werent for my TC2/Motorfest user save and my good buddy getting the game, I'd have sold my PS5 long ago. I'm completely out of the GT sphere now, as I've been banned from GTP and both subs for poking the retards with troublesome facts and stats, which is why I haven't posted any GT nonsense in this thread in awhile

There's also some GT sperging in the racing games thread, although it's mostly about other, "inferior", racing games.

Speaking of GT nonsense, the newest Ferrari menu added in the new patch, requires a car in the Legendary Car dealership (in which the cars available for sale change daily), one in the Used Car dealership (same thing, I think, but with much more available), and one that requires an invite to purchase, which is one of the dumbest requirements to get a car in GT.

1714107434269.png

First, you have to hope to get the invite, since they're exclusively roulette ticket prizes, then you have to hope it's for the Ferrari one, and then you have to either have enough credits to buy it, enough time to grind to get credits for it, or bust out the credit card, since invites are time-limited and expire.

And the prize is the usual roulette ticket, which gives you garbage, I think.

The update also upped GT7's car total to 500 cars, which seems lacking since the game has been out for 25 months, and pales compared to most racing games, even if the GT Stans love to use the Quality > Quantity argument.

  30. [NSW] Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival (Bandai Namco, 09/22/22) – 1,322 (314,447)
Princess Peach's sales have continued to slip but still remain strong, as it only dropped 25% from 10,736 to 8,012 units. Although the Otome game immediately left the top 30, Princess Peach only climbed from #3 to #2 because Mario Kart 8 continues to haunt the Japanese sales charts even after 7 years. Rise of the Ronin saw a similar decline of only a 19% drop this week from 6,985 to 5,651, keeping its #6 spot. Dragon's Dogma 2 has completely left the top 30 list this week, so no news on that. Considering that the #30 spot sold 1,322 units, the disappearance is rather unsurprising as it only sold 1,816 units last week.

Now for the two surprises of the week. Unicorn Overlord's Switch version saw a colossal 65% drop from 4,361 to 1,515 units, falling from #12 to #25. Either last week was a dead cat bounce of it seeing a surge in sales or ATLUS is still retarded and can't print copies of the game fast enough and physical copies sold out again. On the other end, FF7 Rebirth saw a small surge in sales this week for a 19% increase as it jumped from 2,994 to 3,563 units, bringing it from #18 to #12. Next week's report will mark 2 months since the release of Rebirth and its still ~15k units behind FF16's week 1 sales. Although they're going to miss the 2 month deadline, this surge in sales might be enough to keep them from missing the 3 month deadline if sales hold. Not sure what has caused this uptick in sales for Rebirth but it may have gone on sale.

Next week should show the Stellar Blade sales (3 days of it since it releases on April 26th and the report ends on the 28th) and there doesn't appear to be any major threat to its performance from competitors as Princess Peach as started to slow down over these past 2 weeks. I'm fairly certain at this point that Nintendo is just holding off on releasing Mario Kart 9 so they can make it a console exclusive for the "Switch 2/Super Switch" next year because Mario Kart is just a monster in sales. Animal Crossing: New Horizon was a lockdown phenomenon that sold like crazy but it still only sold 44 million units to Mario Kart 8's 60 million units.

"Quality over Quantity" except nothing is quality but the visual models lol.

There's a few youtubers who have now dedicated themselves to comparing FM vs GT7 car models, and whenever you ask them to compare actual racing game things like AI or telemetry or car classes, tuning, physics etc they start hurling insults and throwing a fit lol. My favorite is leaving the "can't believe GT locked looking at your cars in a showroom behind a $500 peripheral and you can't even open the hood like forza" and watching the fanboy bullshit roll in lol.

In a fair world GT7 would be treated like the meme it is. But this is clown world, and there's a enough soy Europeans, Autists and 3rd worlders around to keep GT7 going.

Also, those "bonus menus" (the Ferrari thing) are absolutely the biggest joke in racing games, yet Greeny, one of the likely paid GT shills, uses it as an example of "the wealth of content that's been added to GT"

Noooo they totally aren't pushing the microtransactions at allllll

Well that didn't last long:

base_vs_day01 patch.jpeg

On disk vs day one patch. If you want the day one bugs fixed you have to play censored.

Soyny couldn't help themselves. This is a straight up 'fuck you' to fans since they can't stop the game or "fix it" outright. The standard MO for western companies dealing with Asian media they can't subvert. You will never convince me stuff like this is anything but an attack, a spitting at the fans. From anime dubs to games.

Someone needs to take civil action in a favorable place. This is straight up bait and switch! Advertise something, then suddenly change it after the fact and lock all the basic fixes behind the removal of things you paid for.

In earnest, Eve looks "barely legal. " Perhaps Asian countries need to subvert sexualization by not having their female representation look so prepubscent.

What kind of "barely legal" girls do you hang around with and where?! (seriously, i'll move there lol) To say nothing of your idea of prepubscent. And "barely legal" is just a mealymouthed way to say "legal" so I fail to see the problem. Or.. maybe.. they can just do their thing and westerners can STFU or something...

I'm biased. Anime generally depicts females as oversexualized with the popularity of loli being a guilty pleasure for some. Of course, Sony is okay with depicting women as out of shape, bully, manly caricatures in the States.

Where are you getting loli from in all this? These characters don't even look like teens. A young adult maybe, but no way loli. lol There's nothing wrong with people enjoying sexy and attractive things.. ESPECIALLY in fiction and particularly with drawings/fictional characters.

People (who know better) shouldn't use terms like "oversexualized" and "sexualized", all they are are mealymouthed ways of saying attractive or sexy. It's all about poisoning the well of discussion by shifting the terms in a biased way.

Pretty much what happened to me my PS5 bricked 3 weeks ago and purely out of spite I got a top of a range PC well top mid. It was a blessing in disguise as I have been more pissed with Sony with their exclusivity grabs but also now shit exclusives. GoW2 was horrifying and Rebirth is one of the worst RPGs I have played in years.

Honestly Xbox if they actually tried could go ham with PC exclusives but they are so poorly run and gassed on ESG and DEI they cannot see the wood from the trees. Their companies are too bulky too and need complete overhauls. Bethesda ffs are still working on a 30 year old engine as are Blizzard. Just either design a new one or use UR5.

He only likes geriatric women so anyone under the age of 70 might as well be a child to him

A little update. It's multiple outfits censored, some since sometime after the demo, others with the day one patch. It seems like soyny is really enforcing their contract clauses requiring silence and active defense/excuse for censorship because the devs are coming out and claiming that this was always the intended designs but there was a little mix up... (same old soyny excuse, different day and dev) so totally not last minute censorship guys. They just advertised the old design all the way to gold, forgetting to update until launch. .........>_>.......

They also claim to be "talking" about it internally, due to the reaction (and refunds going out) so there is some hope. But people can't let up and the other censored outfits need to be pointed out more too. I can't help but feel like this is soyny and the western industry trying to sink smaller Asian devs once again. They force last minute censorship, then make them lie, destroy any good will, and then offer refunds for the game.

This shit, being forced or not though, is really rubbing me the wrong way. Cucking out is one thing, but bullshitting everyone and protecting soyny is...

First major Korean game in the western and global market, lasted exactly one day before folding the same way so many Japanese ones did on this issue. ugh

The petition's already over 35k. 17k just today.

Another:

zN7KkxC.png

pzcvBEV.jpeg

z75gNm5.jpeg

It was censored after the demo and then again in the day one patch.

It should be noted that quite a few other outfits have icons that show they looked very different, in the direction of minimalism, at some point late in development.

Man, the reaching, gaslighting and "No don't notice" on this is getting nuts. These were all just artistic choices... at the last second... all in the direction of more coverage... specific to parts of the body most often targeted in censorship.. hmmmm
