It's not politics, it's just telling a story grounded in its own world. Even FF7 needs to be a multiverse story because god forbid a straightforward good gun and villain narrative. Everything is either cynical or exaggerated.

So it's coming out that the "day 1 patch" is marked as "mandatory" by Sony when they said 4 years ago that would never be the case for games playable offline.

("mandatory" means you cannot launch without installing the patch. this means if you have an uncensored disk, you will be forced to uninstall and reinstall if the console is EVER connected to the internet after installation)

This is Sony.
ShiftUP doesn't have that kind of authority over consoles.

Yes, yes people did. How do you not remember that? People were concerned that the rating system would be used as a cudgel to force companies to censor "inappropriate" images and themes. "Inappropriate" in this case could be anything from nudity to depictions of the cross, blood, alcohol, to dialogue the moral busybodies of the day didn't like.

I feel like you have to be on drugs to post a comment like this over a videogame. I mean this guy doesn't even work for Sony or ShiftUp. Area Sales Manager for a Portland Brewery? All those videogame courses he took are going to waste. (Well, I can imagine what kind of videogames he'd make so maybe he's better off working in a place he can get discounts on beer.)

You know I think it was hubris from Shift Up. I tried looking up comparison videos of Nikke and that was censored a shit ton. I could only find some videos from no name commentators that found a comparison of only one character being censored. Nikke was niche when character trailers were being released but I remember the pre release trailers having really provocative designs. Skirts got longer if they even had a skirt to begin with and tops covered more but nobody cared because Stellar Blade was still being developed and eyes were still not on the company just yet. Nikke came out and no one complained about censorship because eyes were still not on them fully. They thought they could get away with it a second time and they couldn't.

Don't even get me started on those games I thought I was the only one. Learning fighting games and getting into frame data was one of the best and now worst things I've done. Because I now understand the dynamics of block and punish the different ways to measure moves speed, hit detection, recovery and damage. The differences between invincibility frames or having armor vs super armor. I can't view any of those games from a casual perspective anymore I'm seeing frame data instead and it's all fucked in those games. Excluding the things I mentioned just like you said the hit boxes are all fucked in those games.

10 years ago, people to the left of stalin were saying "lol calm down" to a woman who blew it out of proportion and asserted that the institutionally racist and sexist united states needed third wave feminism to enact change.
Today, all-black clad "anti fascist" and "anti racist" gangs roam around freely, hitting people with bike locks and protesting law enforcement while almost the entirety of mainstream media defends these criminals. Children who will become voters are taught to hate themselves and their parents for perceived wrongs such as supporting freedom of speech and gun ownership.

It is a different world now. Things don't just stay the same forever. What was true at one time quickly fades and becomes outdated, and you don't live in a bubble. It is entirely reasonable to assume that a person in 2024 calling for the death of someone they just don't like is completely legitimate and unironic, because that is the world people like Anita Sarkeesian have helped to create.

Dear Sneeder is in a internet slap fight on X, the platform originally known as Twitter, over Stellar Blade. The Dark Lord of the Internet is telling the zoomers and anime avatars that corporations like Sony don't care about their petitions and whining. They only respond to threats and force. So instead of doing gay mail in letter campaigns, you should crowd fund a lawsuit instead.
