Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Midnight Castle Succubus
This fucking game is really fucking trash, hilariously so. I like the libraheart succubus games, particularly the Zelda one cause it's easy to play with less glitchy bullshit but with that said, midnight castle succubus is so poorly optimised in comparison to librahearts previous works it's laughable. But since you like weird hentai games like I do I would recommend the crimson keep series and slave princess Sarah, alright games with alright gameplay.

Also I got into the first Battlefront game from 2004, I really like it even if I suck ass and it reminds me a lot of the good parts of unreal tournament 99. Shame the playerbase is dead, can't seem to find servers probably because my copy is the pirated gog one. Still very good game.
@Pissmaster gets mad at games demanding SSDs to this day, a 10-year-old technology.
Me too, if a game is bigger than 10 gb then it has to be worth being that big. If I get better gameplay from the settlers IV than AOE4, I'm going to pick settlers IV. If I have a choice between 10 games with excellent gameplay and 1 game with graphics and content both of the same hardware size, I'm gonna pick the 10 games cause monkey brain want more not less.

How is the Fallout 4 gunplay better than 3/NV? It's the exact same shit but with slightly better animations on the guns and more responsive enemies

It's actually worse than New Vegas with the removal of different ammo types and weapon degradation
Fallout 4 shooting feels nice to me, I remember how nice it felt the first time I've played it. It feels fluid. Fallout 3-NV shooting feels stiff, AI doesn't take cover or does anything, just stands there, shooting. Not to mention the lacking animations, NPC hit boxes and atrocious hit boxes on objects like car wrecks (yes, I know mods have fixed the hit-boxes, but still).
I my opinion 3-NV is RPG-action and 4th is Action-RPG. After all, 3-NV had the classic 0-100 skills and perks, unlike 4th "perks".

Thread tax: Nintendo is more mature now than PS/Xbox now. Think on that.
That's because they "lost" with the WiiU.

There's been a cycle since the PS2, perhaps even the NES depending on how you see it. Console war, the "winner" gets a big head and believes they can dictate terms and starts doing dumb thing, censorship included. Then they get their arse beat, and to save themselves from becoming Sega, open their platform up to any and all content.

The shooting in New Vegas is slow, unresponsive, and delayed. Even mods that try to fix it can only improve it so much. It's almost like controlling a third person character from first person.

One of the reasons why i always stick in melee/unarmed in both FO3 & New Vegas.
Meanwhile, i don't know how Todd butchered melee/unarmed so hard in FO4.

Graphics don't matter if everything is ugly as fuck.

I'd rather look at some anime chick's ass than the brick faced Horizon girl's arm hair at 4k courtesy of my 4090.
As the old saying goes, "Fidelity is temporary, but good art direction is forever.".

On that note, I think Warframe's overall design aesthetic is ugly as fuck and 343i trying to copy it for Halo 4 and 5 was a sin.

You don't have a meaningful opinion. You're just mad that other people, including male nerds, have friends.

The first ever video game is Space War, which was created by MIT students in the 1960s on this computer:

Yeah, total normies there. Look at the normies playing with an exotic research machine on nights and weekends when other students would be out drinking and partying.

Gaming wasn't created by fat, angry women who seethed alone in their dorms because no males wanted to interact with them, and even their female friends had grown tired of their toxic behavior. It was created by male nerds. Guess what, we nerds are friends with other nerds. Nerds get into gaming because we're more interested in things than people, but we eventually bond with other nerds who like the same things we do, and we do nerd shit together and have insane amounts of fun doing it.

You don't post in the threads about computers or operating systems, because you're not interested in them, nor do you have anything interesting to say about them, because you're not actually a nerd. You're not the kind of person gaming was originally created for. You're the kind of person who gets gatekept out of nerd circles. You think gaming was never about nerds hauling their big, beige boxes and 17" CRTs to the dorm game room for an all-night LAN party because nobody ever invited you. Gaming wasn't made with you in mind. It was made by guys like that, for guys like that.

What I will never understand is how there is this insane hatred for the type of people who built this industry. As a nerd I came to gaming and other nerd culture BECAUSE of the same people who claim to be fans of everything yet hate the community, the products and even the product creators. I get that because of the lifestyle it's easy to pick on nerds but over the years it became "cool" to completely bash them and view them as less respectful.

The fun part is that we see what happens when you push said nerds out their hobbies and the captain's chair. It's been said before but most of these companies are struggling because they hire based on these qoutas and clog up their employee numbers with unqualified people. On top of this you have people who spend more time whining to social media timelines than working.
I really can't get into Metroidvanias anymore, that genre is as spent as open world AAA games .

I've been burned out on indie retro styled games as a whole for a long time, if it fits that description doesn't matter how much the devs getting their dicks sucked online, i really don't feel like playing it. i would also sooner replay an old game than pick up a modern "spiritual succesor"
most of the indie game dev scene in general has been played out which is why when i say i play indie games i try to be specific since there is the same problems as the AAA industry with tired concepts and derivative works only with extra layers of snobby creators who think their clones of old nintendo games are deep and convincing because they made it about their depression or the more hackey side of riding off the same nostalgia by just making their version of mario, metroid and zelda games.

Graphics were cooler in the PS2 era anyway. I still enjoy playing games from that era I've never played before, and somehow, an explosion of colored particles or a reflective surface will jump out at me because there's not already so much going on that one more colored light makes no real difference.

I'm just going to get this off my chest because I hear the same stupid fucking line and it makes me wanna ventilate my back cap with a 12 gauge:
"Fallout 4 might be a bad Fallout game, but still still a good game on it's own merits."
NO IT FUCKING IS NOT.
The combat is largely bullet sponges and farming a handful of guns that can actually do any damage.
The story is finding out which faction you hate the least because they're either useless, retarded, or retardedly useless.
The role playing is non-existence with dialogue "options" that were designed from the ground up for fucking console controllers.
Literally the only things that were an "improvement" are: the gunplay, was largely the result of id Software and even then it only rises to the level of "it actually exists"; and the Power Armor, that the game fucking hands you about 10 minutes after leaving the vault, which requires power cores that become a feast-or-famine situation.
If it didn't have the Fallout name on the cover, it would be sitting in the fucking $20 bin at Walmart.
I mean, it still is in the discount bin.

The indie gaming scene somehow manages to be shittier than the mainstream scene. There are a small handful of indie games I’ve enjoyed over the last 15 years but most of them are simply awful. I think the sheen has long since worn off, though. I don’t see much hype and it almost seems like more effort is being expended towards mods these days. I don’t miss the days of endless hype for yet another twinstick zombie shooter.

Hard to think of a spiritual successor that came anywhere near close to the originals and that doesn’t count the debacles like injecting feminism into a game like Mighty No. 9. A lot of creative types will get mad about this but most ideas people need someone else or others to keep the creatives in check. That was anathema for Kickstarter games but we see what happens when the idea guy gets a bunch of money with no real accountability.

In my case, it's because I think about how back then such a thing was actually kind of a nice feat.

I was playing a game on the PS1 recently, and being surprised at how good the reflective water effect in one spot looked.

The games they are trying to take inspiration from might be dated but were AAA games with top tier talent working on design back in their day, i'd be very presumptous to think a few trannies with programming socks can make a kickstarter and make something better. Or course anything they make is doomed to be a shallow copy.

I respect games like darkest dungeon or Hades that can make their own thing with gameplay and art direction adjusted to their budget without having to rely on the retro crutch or milking nostalgia. Overall i agree the indie scene is a big letdown and not the "ultimate savior of the video game race" like its usually talked about, i used to believe more in it but not anymore.

I think the peak of fart huffing for indie games was the walking simulators like Gone Home. When those went away, so did a lot of hype for indie titles. Or at least an assumption that indie titles were worth paying attention to. Plenty of “homages” to Mario and whatnot but those no longer get any attention, fortunately. I still liked Jamestown, that might still be my favorite indie game.

You say that but it and skyrim are still some of the most played games on steam. I don't like these games but we just have to accept theyre not made for me or you.

Gamers really need to stop defending game devs. I'm tired clicking hour long video shitting on some predatory AAA game and the first 20 minutes being dedicaed to "please don't take this as me bullying the small bean developers uwu, I love them so much uwu"

Newsflash, those devs hate your fucking guts. Every single thing that ever pissed anyone off about a game was physically put there by a developer. They are the jackboot enforcers that happily follow the marching orders of those greedy execs everyone scapegoats. I genuinely thought that after having to sit in the money man seat during the Kickstart fad and seeing how devs burn through that money with nothing to show for it over and over again, people would finally realize "oh, these people who applied for and accepted a job to rape my wallet might not be the victims..."
Every time i get to that point in any video i click off because to me it is a waste of time. You're barking but you don't wanna actually bite you're just making noise and being a nuisance which is why the industry is steadily going down the road of caring less about the customers that make the industry stay alive. I used to work in Q & A and what you said is so true they pretty much hated us and hated the people that will buy the game and have a voice that can be heard more. It was worse because in Q&A you get to directly tell them they did something wrong while they are making the game it's basically getting paid to be the guy who goes "you missed a spot" to the retail employee who is mopping up something.

Digressing back on topic i do not understand shill culture and this need to defend these companies. It's this logic that people have "dehumanized" developers for so long when for years these are the same peolpe who have been absolutely willing to fuck the end customer with a smile on their face. So you have this sect that goes "respect the game devs! they are doing the best they can you should be grateful" which is funny since thanks to social media you see most of these peolpe whining about having to actually work or purposefully doing things to the game to piss people off.

Manchild nerds have no status and no accomplishments to feel pride in, so they invest their sense of self in the corporations and corporate product they most identify with and defend it like it's their job.

That's really all there is to it.

The recent debate of driving physics between GTA IV and V is subjective at best. I don't see what that's even a discussion to determine the games' quality. If I can adjust to it accordingly with logic, it's fine.
