I saw an exchange online where somebody took umbrage at a PS2 game being called "old" then it was pointed out that there was more time between PS2 game and then than there was between SMB1 and the PS2 game
I watched this video and I'm genuinely stunned that a good portion of this year will probably be remakes

Talking about school shootings and realizing you're the only one that remembers Columbine.
When I was a classroom mom, there was a drill, turn off the lights, close the curtains/windows, and get under your desk.
Cheeselets' class had a sub that day, and she had no idea what I meant when I made a joke about Russia dropping the bomb.

I had no idea it was a school shooting drill, the only drills we had in my schools were fire drills and civil defense drills. I explained that to the sub, and she said she vaguely remembered her grandmother talking about them.
Sucks getting old.

Oh man I felt old yesterday, I was doing Mythic+ runs in World of Warcraft with some friends and through the course of our bantering I pointed out that I have save files on my PlayStation memory cards that are older than they are. I crumbled myself into dust. Especially when I got asked what a memory card looked like, as if it were some unknown relic.

Hearing someone who stumbles over their words that don't enunciate, instead just sortofslippingouttogetherlikethis, thinking it's a kid, and realizing it's someone in their fucking twenties.

Getting in real shape and thinking "I should have done this years ago".

Watching a partner in her 30s deteriorate in near real time because telling people to get active is somehow "fat shaming."

Yep.

SWGLegends just celebrated its 8th year as a Star Wars Galaxies Emulation server. Star Wars Galaxies shut down my first year in College in 2010. I had been playing Star Wars Galaxies since I was 12. Which effectively means the best Star Wars game I ever played, that I still come back to time and time again, I have been relatively active on for twenty years.

Most of the bands I grew up listening to (like KISS, Bob Seger, Ozzy, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Ted Nugent) are on their farewell tours.
All of those dudes should have quit a long time ago. There's nothing more cringey to me than a watch a Mick Jagger strut around on stage like a chicken, trying to pretend he's cool and not embarrassing. Rock music as a whole has become totally irrelevant and is aging out, all these grandpa acts need to hand up the guitar

so I'm not a car guy but I've always tried to learn enough that i could do some repairs or replacements on my own/know that an issue would be over my head & would need a mechanic. It feels like the list of things I can do on my own is getting smaller and smaller any time i've bought a new set of wheels.

IIRC, there was this one guy who was either in high school or college, who was practically boasting to others with him that he was playing Zelda games "since the old school days" (or something like that)... and then brought up Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

I have save files in vidya on N64 to GBA that were started before a number of "Zoomers" who are now old enough to drink were born.
N64? I have save games from mario world and drawings in mario paint that still work from december 1992 when I got my SNES, half a decade before zoomers started being born

Plus nothing makes you realize you're getting old like suddenly realizing that if she were alive today your first dog would be 40 this year and second dog 32

Speaking of things that are 32 years old, theres mcdonalds pizza that was a thing way back then and the arch deluxe shitshow is coming up on 28 years ago already

and remember back in the 90s when the media made such a big deal over star treks 25th anniversary? Every series since then except enterprise and the recent shit already passed that milestone. and in a couple years austin powers will be as old from the day the first movie was made as the amount of time he spent frozen in the first place, and that was 1967

That said, seeing how everything is essentially made to be idiot proof really shows how things have changed. Give a zoomer a copy of castlevania 2 and there is no way they would be able to get through it without rage quitting. Especially when realizing back in the day there was no way to look shit up online to figure out what to do, you either had to get lucky with an article from some subscription magazine or call a number at a few dollars a minute. On that note just show modern zoomer fans of the metal gear franchise what the original NES game was like and watch them go nuts trying to get through it, or troll them with that uninvited game that has so many ways to instantly get a game over its not even funny. Even the supposed fans of retro games wouldn't be too happy about that I suspect. Hell show them a 90s era mmo where if you get killed you lose everything in your inventory and enough stats that it can take days or more to build them back up and they'll blow a gasket
