UPDATE 11/28/23

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Taylor has had yet another breakdown by complaining about harassment by allowing herself to be harassed. Apparently her OnlyFans has been suspended and she decided to go on Instagram and air out some laundry.

I know I'm super late but this is the first I'm seeing of this thread, and these details. I was half assed keeping track of this drama for a few months after the incident, but the commenters in the discussion were so fucking irritating and not genuine I couldn't take more than a couple minutes at a time. Somehow I never saw any of this. Gee, I wonder why. It pissed me off when people would say shit like "Ben denied it, clearly he's guilty and just isn't man enough to admit it!". Always lose/lose with these people, and I really feel bad for LPOTL/Ben having to deal with this garbage.

I've been listening to LPOTL and their other shows for a decade. One of those comedy groups that's kinda grating at first, but if you give them a chance they grow on you and honestly they're in my top 3 podcasts. They have changed over the years a lot, for better or worse. Personally I enjoyed them the most when they actively tried to piss off SJW types, especially the Round Table of Gentlemen era. They really did not give a fuck about what they joked about. But as so often happens they got big enough where they depend on this for their livelihood. A huge chunk of the true crime genre community are the perpetual victim neurotic types, and with cancel culture so advanced they had no choice but to cave in to this. This bitch is psycho, and clearly has it out for Ben. I'm sure it's been mentioned in the thread before but reminder that he broke up with her in the first place. But too late... sorry Ben, you were going downhill since COVID but you still helped make the LPN network and imo the show has gotten even worse since you got caught up in a witch hunt.

Also, fuck you to the "fans" that cast him aside right off the bat. So hungry for blood, it's gross. To this day some of them call him a "woman beater" or even a rapist, when he was never even accused of any of that. Scumbag liars. This situation was actually a big motivation for me to start paying more attention to what's actually going on with all this cancelling and censorship being pushed, and wow... I knew a lot of people were full of shit, but this is straight up villainous.

Honestly idk what happened to Markus but he really made the show more and more queer as time went on also gayer too.
If you heard Markus on other podcast shows in 2012, he was always a little queer femboi.

admitting that he experimented with men in his younger days before going full hetero
what year did he stop being "butterfly" to the men in the kink clubs of Long Island City.

@TittlyWinks ;)

I think the problem is that the niche they found were cat women/people/tumblr types, and those people as we know are triggered by ANYTHING. They're the kind of people who think "they can handle an edgy joke" and then when faced with an ACTUAL edgy joke they lose it. It is a shame, because even with the new guy you can tell they really hold back on things.

I still listen to the podcast, but only if they're covering something that sounds interesting. I tried listening to the recent series on the Snowtown Murders and honestly felt it was a waste of time. I didn't even listen to more than half of the third episode because they couldn't stop these little sidetracks/tangents on shit that didn't matter. I couldn't even keep anything straight because they kept making jokes every 5 seconds instead of relaying the information. The last good series was probably about that Uruguayan plane that crashed up in the Andes.

The podcast has certainly changed in tone since Ben was ousted. I don't mind Ed Larson, but I'm not the biggest fan. I gotta commend him for coming in at a really rough time and not in the best circumstances. He's really blossomed, but clearly his best is reserved for The Brighter Side. Henry is just fucking annoying now and without Ben to be his comedic foil, most of his jokes fall flat for me. Marcus has always been a faggot in some form, but his writing and research is pretty decent for what the show is.

Ben has slowly started coming back into the podcast realm since getting out of rehab. Recently, he's been a guest on Death In Entertainment, which is a great podcast I found thanks to his guest appearance on their episode on Aaron Carter. He also guested on their episode about Norm Macdonald and last week's episode on lost media. He sounds happier with each appearance and his humor is spot on. Clearly he's in a better place and while I'm happy for him, it just makes me even angrier at the entire situation.

Isn’t he married to some hot but annoying Latinx type?

She’s got got a rich family and 100% conquistador dna and is whiter than the average Spaniard these days but will lecture you on her struggles as a brown person type bitch?

For sure. I still believe that deep down they want to be as edgy as they used to be, but at the same time dudes are all closing in on or are 40. People's outlook and humor does change over time, especially after they get married to people who are already entrenched in the CA/"Hollywood" scene and culture. They all started in NYC and FL, after all. But they just can't anymore, not if they want to keep getting paid. Certainly doesn't get easier to find new work in the industry past your 30s.

Anyway, like another poster said they're really not what they used to be. I'll still listen occasionally if the topic is good, but it's a totally different show than pre 2020, hell maybe even pre 2016. Just give any episode of roundtable of gentlemen a listen, it's such a far cry from what it is now.

Alas, time marches on. Happens to all good things in media... they lose their charm and originality the more people they need to try to please and the longer it lasts. Good for them for being as successful as they have been, and once again fuck all y'all who threw Ben under the bus within a second of a literal pschizo OF hooker making accusations about a dude who broke up with her. I know at least a few of them will read this, though they'd never dare make a post on KWF.

Some bassist from a nothing little band sent a bomb threat to Ben on Instagram.

The band responded with an apology and claimed he had been kicked out but I can’t find that comment now.

Anyway LPOTL sucks now. As plain as it was that Ben was struggling, the show still benefited from his contributions. The cadence is off now because Ed Larson just can’t play the “straight man” like Ben could. Ed and Henry get lost in the weeds way too frequently and the flow of the podcast suffers for it. I used to be able to throw on an episode of LPOTL while I was gardening or doing housework but now I can’t listen without it requiring way more of my attention because they’re just all over the fuckin map.

I used to listen to this WAY back in the day and will give it another try every now and then but yeah, it resembles nothing of what it once was. Funnily enough I actually really like Ed. Henry's still Henry, never my favorite but he hasn't changed a whole lot. It's Marcus that grates on my nerves more than anything else now. He seems to have gotten insufferably smug over the past several years.

Henry and Ben (and now Ed I suppose) would always cop to not knowing their ass from a hole in the ground but Marcus seems to have grown a shitload of confidence in topics he's just as clueless as Henry about. Maybe he was always like that and I've just gotten older and wiser but Jesus he comes off like an asshole.

So they finally did Armin Meiwes (the cannibal who found a crazy suicidal guy who wanted to be eaten which inspired a Ramstein song about the crime) as a two-part episode. VERY anti-climatic and not even Marcus talking in German/with a german accent multiple times could save this flat, flaccid two-parter.

Also, they said that next week is the start of a four part series on a historical topic (no clue what it will be; they've already done black death and witch hunts. Maybe French Revolution?) and I'm still butt-hurt they aren't doing a 30th anniversary series on the OJ Simpson trial this summer.

BTW anyone know a way to get the Sirius XM exclusive "Last Update On the Left" shows for free online? Podbean, which is where I normally get my copies of Last Podcast, don't have them and I don't want to pay money for them.

Marcus was the fucking worst in the West Memphis Three episode. Spent half the series handwaving away behavior from Damien as just edgy goth kid stuff when he uses that same behavior as examples of sociopathy in other killers,

I didn't think it was that bad. I thought they were average episodes. I don't think they should've dedicated two parts to it though since Meiwes' backstory isn't that interesting.

I think Marcus was just projecting on Damien, given that he was also an edgy goth teen who probably pissed off so many people as a teenage that he probably would have ended up like Damien, rotting in jail for the bulk of his adult life had his adult enemies had a perfect storm come up that they could use to lock him up. The only difference being, that Marcus's parents gave a fuck about him whereas Damien's parents were fucking poor that they basically didn't give a shit about parenting Damien until he was facing a murder rap.

(that also reminds me, when did such a huge backlash against the WM3 being innocent begin? i first saw it on 4chan a couple of years back, which IIRC was also around the time that QAnon was in full swing and one day people talking about the WM3 folk like they were always guilty and Damien in particular was part of the hollywood pedophile death cult shit. did I miss the backlash or something?)

Ironically the backstory part was the only interesting part of the two parter.

That also has me thinking; maybe the next thing is going to be on the Marquis DeSade? He's another big hitter and could fill a four parter, especially if they include stuff about Libertinism, Salo, and French Revolution)

I disagree.

I thought the actual murder was the most interesting part because I didn't know the backstory of the other guy, or that the whole night of the murder was basically just one big, giant, awkward, nerd first date that would've looked like something ripped right out of 90 Day Fiancée if it hadn't ended in a guy getting mutilated, killed, and then eaten.
That also has me thinking; maybe the next thing is going to be on the Marquis DeSade?
The way they were hyping it up makes me believe it's either him, or the French Revolution.

Eh... they went out of their way to downplay the murder and make Armin and his victim seem like losers and pathetic, which made the violence and their description of it awkward as fuck. Maybe if Ben was the third man he could have spiced it up by feigning horror and outrage and all, but Ed seems to be way too mellow in reacting the description whereas Ben would have sold how fucked up the shit was.

Resurrecting this because Henry spoke about voting for Kamala today on Side Stories. He mentioned he either usually doesn't vote at all or hasn't voted before but he made it a point to say he voted for her before a long tangent about Donald in relation to sovereign citizens and basically said all Trump voters are fucking retards and Nazis. Ed stayed surprisingly neutral and started the show off with a story about a cab driver in NZ asking if Ed was going to vote for the orange man or the bitch. Henry went in so heavy on Trump voters that it seems like they feel completely sure absolutely no one who listens would ever vote for him, or perhaps they're willing to lose the remaining right-leaning fans they have.

I'm not even sure I can recall another time I've heard anyone on the show be political outside of Ben and his politics were kind of moderate too, like he had settled into a level of "reporting" and "commentating" politics versus a hard line stance on anything. They have certainly changed content in order to appease their leftist fans but in the actual true crime podcast community, even though they're a "top" podcast, most of the women hate the show and have always hated the show because they joke about murderers. Maybe this is really crazy of me but I think there might be a cross over in the audience who laughs at jokes about murder and people who might vote for Donald Trump.

I'm not even American and I was kind of put off by the really hateful rhetoric Henry said about millions of people. I know their recording schedule usually has them recording the actual podcast episodes after Side Stories and the stream for patreon/YouTube so the next episode might be his full reaction to the results of the election because Side Stories was recorded on Tuesday.

As a side note: I fucking hate all of their wives podcasts including Brighter Side with Ed. I don't know who actually listens to it or watches it on their YouTube as the views are always in the low 100s. I also really, really hate Jackie Zebrowski. She is the most try hard bitch I've had to watch across their whole network. I would rather that other guy everyone hates for being annoying and disgusting over Jackie. These guys need real hobbies or something rather than shitting out every idea in their head into stupid YouTube podcasts.

I haven't listened to the episode yet but I still frequently listen the oldies as well. Henrys wife with her goofy ass haircut makes me MATI and her podcast is such a nepobaby droning whining fucking borefest. Henry and Marcus have just become complete parrots of their wives opinions and hell I'm a woman and the wives make my skin crawl. Obnoxious with zero personality and they are not funny nor do they have any charisma. I wish they'd stfu about politics and just do the damn murder/creepy/funny shit.

The parasocial relationships the fans have towards them is wild. Everything but the main podcast is garbage and they need to stop thinking anyone gives a shit about that weird retarded fantasy series with Jackie and Natalie, stop trying to make it happen. Completely alienating their core fanbase for these chicks (I have no real opinion on Carolina because I don't listen to No Dogs in Space but throwing her in there because I find Jackie a little chuckly betimes) who I'm pretty sure are only with them because of said podcast network owned by their husbands.

Gud Pud is the worst podcast ever conceived that woman thinks talking loud and fast combined with playing dress up is the same thing as having charisma. Are they losing subs? Will this network crash and burn?

but I think there might be a cross over in the audience who laughs at jokes about murder and people who might vote for Donald Trump.
Not as much as you'd think, people forget this podcast is a spin off of New York City Crime Report, and a decade ago they were more moderate while joking about murder. Hell the only reason I know of the pod is the giant being on Fox News, and that guys views on women are hardcore right wing.
Are they losing subs? Will this network crash and burn?
No? In general people will sub and if they have the income stick around forever. Literally look at cable and Lindsey Ellis. Chapo trap House has gone from 5 hosts down to like 2 who are black pilled and hate talking politics yet no one is dropping subscribers.

In general these shows plateau and can coast forever. Same way AOL was making a billion off of dial up in the 2010s

Henry has gotten progressively more obnoxious about politics over the years and it doesn’t surprise me at all that he’d include a Trump tantrum in an episode. Ben was seriously the glue that held LPOTL together and kept it relatable for people not in the LA bughive. When he started spiraling and when he eventually was booted, all quality remaining left with him.
