As promised, here’s a quick breakdown of what transpired with the shaman I visited.
Ruth of
RARARA Integrative Shamanic Bodywork was very professional and cordial. I asked her about her traditional path, and she informed me that she studied under a Q’ero (Peruvian) shaman. She used to do journey work, now she focuses solely on energetic healing. She asked me about what brought me there today, and I informed her that I was there at the behest of another shaman. Furthermore, an aura reader had told me that I had a potential attachment.
Ruth went about examining my energetic field, and then used sound via a drum, a rattle, and a singing bowl to break up blockages. I basically lay on a massage table for a little over an hour as she did her work. It was a humbling experience, as it reminded me that I still have a long way to go in my own tradition before I can take up such work. I also believe that someone came, as I received one of my usual bird omens during the session. (Apparently they nest outside the studio window.)
I was told that I have to connect more with my male ancestral line. I was recommended to make an offering (in my tradition, this is called a
blót ) to my ancestors. I was also given a tincture of plant essences.
Consulting with my Cousin Dan, who is very knowledgeable about my biological father’s side of the family, I think I know what to do now. I will incorporate this
blót in with my ritual for the Summer Solstice.
