Assassin's Creed thread

Assassins Creed: Odyssey: Greek male protagonist. Greek Female Protagonist. :like:

Assassins Creed: Vahalla: Norse Male Protagonist. Norse Female proagonist.:like:

Assassins Creed: Japan. Black Male protagonist. Japanese female protagonist.:?:

But why though? I don't really care about Assassins Creed (Unironically think its the most mid franchise in existence) but they seemed like they had their shit straight in that regard. I'm all for creative liberties but the fact that an Assassins Creed game, SET IN SENGOKU ERA JAPAN doesn't give me like Hattori Hanzo or Kotaru Fuma to play as is a joke.

Oh, I honestly consider it more likely that the female protagonist will turn out to be a lesbian than have a male love interest, following in the steps of Ellie and Aloy. And just like with every such case before, a major ulterior reason for it will be because of the understanding that the target demographic of male players will find lesbian action to be hot and otherwise uncomfortable with playing as a female character having romance with a male character, hence why lesbian couples are way more prominent than gay male couples in general media. The most likely case of all is that this female protagonist Naoe is completely asexual, but yeah, there's a greater chance of her being lesbo than visibly heterosexual.

I think it's way more likely that she'll get BLACKED than anything else. They'll want to do everything in the book to validate Yasuke as some legendary samurai, so they'll have Naoe recognise him on that several times in the story and they'll probably fall in love or some bullshit so they can say he passed on his seed.

To give fair assessment to Yasuke the historical figure, what is known is that he was hired with a stipend, promoted, given a shortsword, Nobunaga enjoyed his time spent with him, and he fought to some degree in Honnoji. The lack of firm historical accounts tells me that most contemporaries are way too hasty in romanticising Yasuke as some "legendary samurai". If Caesar was only known through a small account that he was given a consulship and fought in a battle without rank being given, I would never assume that he was a general, a member of the Triumvirate or an Emperor by that evidence alone.

There is still a remote chance that Yasuke could've been a legendary samurai, but it has to be recognized that it is pure speculation and little more.

AC completely going retard is pretty hurtful to me. Don't get me wrong, the historical fiction story and characters were fucking idiotic from AC2 onward (the final fight is a fistfight with the pope in full regalia), but until Odyssey the actual historical cities were beautifully realized, in a way that has never been done before or after.

From origins onwards, they put in modern leftist bullshit into every facet of the game. Be it greek schools for girls, black women mercenaries in ancient Greece, Chinese and black vikings, etc.

What started as a historian's dream, with high budget, relatively faithful recreations of medieval Jerusalem, Florence, Venice or Constantinople it became radical feminist/black supremacist propaganda, poisoning masses of ignorants against actual history.
But what do I know, I only have a doctorate, I am sure a fat canadian woman knows better.

The Blacking of White women in media is pervasive but I can't think of an example of an Asian woman getting Blacked. I think it might be the opposite: Yasuke will get YELLOWED.

Why? Because in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rose Tico forced herself on Finn.
And because of the stereotype or the fantasy that "Asian women are quiet, passive and submissive", something that leftists don't like so the devs will intentionally go the opposite way, creating a strong and independent Japanese female ninja that is sexually assertive without waiting for Yasuke do the approaching.

Either that or she'll be a lesbian or asexual.

She's got one hell of a brick jaw and chin. I guess it's possible she gets blacked but my money is on her being a lesbian.

They are still using the Assassin's Creed 2 theme because it's the last time this series was good, holy shit
Personally I feel like the last good classic game was Revelations. AKA, the end of Ezio's story. And everything after that has been pretty meh, except Black Flag, but blah blah, pirate game not Assassin game.

They are definitely aware of it though which makes their current games even more frustrating. They constantly shove AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations and just Ezio content in general down our throats because they know it was the last time they were good. Fuck, they literally put Ezio into For Honor recently as a skin for Peacekeeper.

It's as if they're saying " Yeah, we know the old games were better. But fuck you, we're not going to go back to the old formula. Deal with it chud. "

I agree but while the old games were good for their time they were pretty primitive and have aged very poorly.

I mean the combat is pseudo turn based where enemies just crowd around you and stand there doing nothing until they slowly come at you one by one, perform one attack, and then die instantly.

I've revisited some of the classic games and they feel pretty bad and unfulfilling, would anyone buy an Assassin's Creed game with "classic" mechanics?

I personally think the pseudo Witcher AC games are dogshit too but they generally sell very well, in fact they're Ubislop's top selling games.

Some of you may be confusing what samurai means. I might have this wrong, too, and I understand that in this context they do mean samurai as a fighting man. But samurai is a social class, like "nobility." My understanding is that Yasuke was, like William Adams, an actual samurai by class, but he may have never actually fought. Of course it's a game about stabbing people, not sitting around court being a zoo exhibit.

I honestly don't mind Yasuke that much, yeah it's 100% diversity bait but at least it's tied to a real historical figure who has a legend even if that legend itself is an exaggeration. I'm not going to freak out over it.

But I do think that they missed an opportunity, either as a third character or instead of Yasuke, to use William Adams, the real-life version of the pirate from Shogun. He would have been an opportunity to include naval gameplay and a sort of conventional sword-and-pistol approach alongside the samurai and ninja theming.

I feel like the series always had AIDS, but it was a lot more manageable in the past. The whole thing about heckin heroic Hashashin fighting evil colonizer Templars was ghastly, I can only enjoy it if I pretend that those words have no connection to the real organizations (which is how it ended up shaping up anyways). Connor is straight up retarded (OH MY GOD YOU'RE TELLING ME THE COMMANDER OF CHIEF OF PATRIOT FORCES BURNED TORY VILLAGES?!?!), which makes sense in that the twist of Georgie being ol' Town Destroyer may be shocking to most of the normalfaggots playing the game, but is stupid within context. At some point Ubisoft got obsessed with slavery and started jerking off its Black Assassins a lot (you'd think Adewale was the second coming of Christ). Unity actually plays with Robespierre in a really cool way, but the depiction of villainous deism and the 2edgy4me atheist wankfest final speech puts a foul taste in my mouth.

But worst of all was Syndicate with wholesome Karl Marx and some lame ass cackling Disney villain industrialist instead of them having the stones to use who they clearly wanted to, James Mayer de Rothschild.

Fighting Greek women, no shields (in the era of hoplites) and ship combat being ships blowing each other up* pissed me off with Odyssey to where I never bought it.

In Origins, it was super gay that they didn't depict the Alexandrian Jews.

*It really shouldn't be that hard to do classical naval warfare properly. The retarded stamina bar from Skull and Bones fits perfectly there. It's just peppering each other with artillery/bows to weaken hull integrity/kill crew, ram (being a vidya game this can take multiple rounds, play like a bullfight with a bit of physics), and if you don't want to sink the enemy ship or if you cock it up somehow you get bogged down in a melee battle.

You are wrong, samurai was a formal ordained position like an English knight, you must have been sworn in as a Samurai by the Shogunate in a formal ceremony.

This is why William Adams was a samurai and Youske was not.

I thought that samurai's female family were also considered samurai (but obviously not bushi, warriors).
Was that just some revisionist bullshit?

Guess you weren't a fan of the executions then?
Tbh, I'd prefer if they went back to AC3 or Black Flag combat, I feel like it was the best combat where they streamlined it just enough but didn't fucking ruin it.
I'd prefer being able to instakill enemies if the alternative is fights lasting 2 fucking hours. The old games made you feel like a badass assassin instead of just some dipshit in a hood. I think in the new games they just ragdoll and die? No execution, they just flop. It's like a wet fart in comparison.

It wasn't about being difficult or whatever tbh the appeal was the flashiness and the power fantasy of being a one man army. Nowadays every single guard you fight feels like the one man army. At least fights were over quick in the old games, now every fight just gets more tedious as the game goes on. Straight up I couldn't even watch a video of combat in one of the new games it was so grating. How does anyone get through them?

So everybody now has suddenly become an expert on samurais and feudal customs thanks to a by-the-numbers Ubisoft game?

Back to historical accuracy, can you imagine the man hours it took to perfectly recreate Norte Dame only to have your intended product be unoptimized? Hell, it's the same Ubisoft that wanted Arno to be playable in co-op and didn't back down on having playable female characters against Unity's design.
