Assassin's Creed thread

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
All I’m going to say is that we could have had another Afro Samurai game for the new generation, but instead they‘re trying to subvert a game series that has not been talked about as much since Black Flag was released.

I also say this as someone who has yet to finish the first two games of the series.

I wonder if they’ll continue the habit (since Odyssey, though I believe they ruined Jacob Frye like this too) of faggot protags with Yasuke. You just know half the people beating their chest over this will get real quiet then.

ETA:
The “Japanese expert” they hired is a Japanese fag history professor. :story: You couldn’t make this up with a million years and a crystal ball.
Note the pedos being framed as a good thing.

Literal buck breaking the historic nigger.

Guess you weren't a fan of the executions then?
Tbh, I'd prefer if they went back to AC3 or Black Flag combat, I feel like it was the best combat where they streamlined it just enough but didn't fucking ruin it.
I'd prefer being able to instakill enemies if the alternative is fights lasting 2 fucking hours. The old games made you feel like a badass assassin instead of just some dipshit in a hood. I think in the new games they just ragdoll and die? No execution, they just flop. It's like a wet fart in comparison.

It wasn't about being difficult or whatever tbh the appeal was the flashiness and the power fantasy of being a one man army. Nowadays every single guard you fight feels like the one man army. At least fights were over quick in the old games, now every fight just gets more tedious as the game goes on. Straight up I couldn't even watch a video of combat in one of the new games it was so grating. How does anyone get through them?
I thought AC3 combat was a massive step down from Revelations, but Black Flag's was certainly more bearable. If given the choice I would gladly return to Revelations-style combat, but tbf I would prefer AC3 combat over the RPG numbers slapfight that constitutes the modern games.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that. When I first saw "her" put on the hood in that trailer I thought it was a dude ninja who is a tad feminine.
If you put her next to a bunch of burly white and Hispanic construction workers or something I probably wouldn't have noticed anything off but next to other Asians makes the exaggerated masculine features that much more obvious.

Yeah I immediately clocked her manjaw because she looks really similar to the default male Hide's appearance from Nioh 2.

Ngl, if my boy Nagoriyuki was the lead I'd be down for some black samurai action.

It is hilarious to watch the narrative shift in real time from "Yasuke was totally a samurai" to "Well, Assassain's Creed was never historically accurate in the first place".
All while the Wikipedia page for Yasuke has seen more edits within the past 48 hours than it has in the time since the page was made until the trailer reveal.
I literally had someone in a Discord server actually change his argument on me to "well, who cares because it's all just fiction" literally as I was debating him.
He can't actually prove that Yasuke was a samurai, he couldn't prove that Yasuke was a real person, he couldn't even fucking prove that having a black man as a protagonist made sense.
Even showing him the litany of edits to the Wikipedia page for Yasuke as a result of this fucking game, he remained adamant that "it's just a game, dude. This isn't IRL".
No, he just pivoted right to "well, it's all just fiction and Assassian's Creed always took liberties with history" which is also not true as the game was still grounded in the historical period in a way that made sense.
These people know exactly what they're doing and are completely insidious in their actions. They can only ever argue in bad faith because they just want to push (THE MESSAGE) into every aspect of life.

Assassin’s Creed Does Not Care About Historical Accuracy, And Neither Should You
I was also told, “Get woke, go broke” and that video game journalism is just another excuse for A.I. to replace these journalists for only the minimal amount of cost.

It's getting really annoying that they just constantly keep bringing up historical accuracy as a way to dismiss all criticism. The phrase they are never prepared to discuss is historical authenticity. You have to make the story believable so people don't go "Bullshit." it would be like having a WW2 game that's grounded in reality but then having all the Germans armed with AR15s. Yasuke would be an interesting character as a side character in the game that you do a mission for, or even having his own grindhouse themed game. But as someone who studied that period of history there is no way a black man, especially one who came over as a Jesuit, is ever going to have any position of influence or command the respect of the Japanese populace. And he certainly wouldn't be able to blend in as an assassin. The female character is more believable and even that's a stretch.
